It's a dead slop.
It's a dead slop.
And yet the vast majority of games still run just fine on 10 year old cards, you just lower the settings, let alone newer cards with 8GB of VRAM which barely have to lower anything.Vram is an obsolescence tool. They will never put more than the bare minimum so you have a reason to upgrade. If they do they will charge you for the next card as well.

Not everything is a conspiracy theory, it's a rather expensive component and products generally are offered in a range of prices. GPU makers can't determine what/when something is obsolete as the market dictates what the makers of games choose to support, and they have no interest in forcing you to upgrade an expensive component so that you have less money to pay for games.
Beyond that, they offer cards with more VRAM so "they will never put more than the bare minimum" is just flat out wrong.
This headline is misleading. There are a lot of games that don't run well on 8GB with any settings. This is not one of them. You just have to match your texture settings to how much memory you have. Are we getting dumber?
Fair enough. Still isn't the video card manufacturers who determine when something is obsolete, and games still look great at 1080p in motion to me.VRAM wasn't very expensive for nvidia in 2020, 2022 and Q1 2025 and yet - they still gave the lowest possible amounts for xx50, xx60, xx60Ti and xx70 cards.
It was like that since 20xx series. Right now you can't even play at 1080 without lowering the settings in many games, and 5060TI is not a slow GPU. Fuck me:

It's close to 3080 and 7800XT. 8GB version is fucking crippled and can perform worse than 3060 in some games. 5060 with 12GB of memory would be fucking amazing low-mid range option.
"Buy new GPU, lower textures to low-medium settings and turn off RT, 8GB is enough!" - while your buddy that bought 16GB version can play with everything maxed out.
Do people not expect to lower settings when they buy an entry level GPU anymore? I wouldn't worry about the 8GB Ti owners. Surely they've got a mouth watering list of prescription medications to even end up with such a device.Turn off RT, lower texture quality, enable lower tier of DLSS and play the game with ~50% GPU utilization - fucking hilarious for all those "happy" 4060TI/5080TI 8GB owners.
Game is playable on 8GB GPUs, of course - but you have to sacrifice a lot to get there, in general it has lower performance with this amount of memory, even on lower settings.
As it should be. 8GB is from 2016. Play at sub 1080p and lower settings if it's a problem.

GPU itself - 5060TI is not exactly entry level, in PT it mops the floor with the biggest GPUs in 3000 series, in raster it's comparable.
I doubt many 5060Ti owners were conscious of the decision they have made, nvidia did everything in their power to hide the reviews of 8GB cards:
AMD putting 16GB on the 6800xt in 2020 is crazy
Even 6800, and 6700XT had 12GB.
Nvidia was crazy as well with 3060 12GB, hahaha.
i dont use it ,perhapsThat is some wizardry happening on Linux.
I'm happily on Bazzite right now. Is Cachy worth the switch?

Because they knew that Youtubers would make Rage Bait videos like the one OP posted.
Buy new 5060ti 8GB for 380$ and play at low/medium settings?
No, you're supposed to pony up for the higher VRAM models. That doesn't get the clicks tho.
Even 6800, and 6700XT had 12GB.

No they didn't. If you couldn't afford 16GB, that's "I can't afford it" problem.Nvidia fucked 8GB card owners, those GPUs shoudn't exist in 2025/2026.
More FUD from AMDUB. Oh well.
Lets wait for more objective reviewers.

Failed products. Ampere aged much better lol.Even 6800, and 6700XT had 12GB.
Complete nonsense. No, 8GB cards should't be a thing outside of xx50 series, they are obsolete in modern games since 2023 (and nvidia knows this).

Please VRAM FUD is a thing for 2023. Memory now is no longer cheap. You don't get to do 8GB GPUs should be 150$ BS in 2026.
You get 100fps in 1080p High + RT Here. And you can probably lower VRAM intensive settings like textures to get usage under 8GB.
and yet RTX 3070 outsold like 3/4th RDNA2 lineup. Has a multi attention Transformer Upscaler and will probably get FG soon.3070 aged like a fine wine:

I came here to say exactly this. Nowadays is not the game's fault but the owner's.As it should be. 8GB is from 2016. Play at sub 1080p and lower settings if it's a problem.
You can also just lower VRAM intensive settings you know?
Do you want x50 cards to be $400+?
This game runs great on 8GB. And if a game requires more than 8GB, the game is DOA on PC. At least given current PC shipment and cumulative share dynamics.Until you can't (engine just requite x amount even on low settings) or reach the stage when game looks like poop.
You mean the one card that's 549$ and the other card that's only in stock because AIBs can't manage to sell it?Oh and 16GB variants of the cards can run everything maxed out (at least in 1080p), users don't have to calculate stuff and test every setting to reach playable results...
Then don't give your opinion about how much VRAM they should have.I don't give a fuck about those cards, they are mostly useless anyway.
I've quotedI came here to say exactly this. Nowadays is not the game's fault but the owner's.
The game literally gets 50fps average with 4K Extreme settings (High texture/geometry) on an RTX 4060.8GB is just fine. All it takes is high textures and high geometry and extreme preset runs very well.
You mean the one card that's 549$ and the other card that's only in stock because AIBs can't manage to sell it?
Those cards could have had 10-12GB and it wouldn't have made a difference functionally.
Ray Tracing On?The game literally gets 50fps average with 4K Extreme settings (High texture/geometry) on an RTX 4060.
Imagine complaining about 8GB VRAM in such a game…..
Nope. 4K Extreme / High Textures.Ray Tracing On?
Ray Tracing On?
AMD cards also seem to perform much better than the Nvidia equivalents in Forza...
Those RDNA2/3 AMD cards can't raytrace and can barely upscale. Whether they have 8GB or 16GB is irrelevant.RT requires memory, are you nuts?! You can't use it on nvidia cards (supposedly so good at RT) but you can on AMD GPUs with enough memory.
The best solution to 8GB owners is to set everything to very low and not complain that nvidia screwed them.
So throwing away Nvidia's advantages then. With Indiana Jones wanting so much memory, maybe AMD's VRAM maxing strategy worked out. Can RDNA 2 and 3 ray trace well at 30fps?Nope. 4K Extreme / High Textures.
On another note. They should start testing with Xbox Mode FFS.
You can run probably run 1080p Ultra with High textures / RT at over 60fps with DLSS 4.5.So throwing away Nvidia's advantages then
