All these new systems are nice but what I want to see at E3 is Persona 5. Please?

There will be beautiful tears of sadness and despair when P5 is finally announced for handhelds. If the mainline SMT series ends up on 3DS, it's spinoffs are logically going to come out on handhelds as well.

Yessss me too man

There are arguments for it going either way.

Don't forget Persona is much more popular than mainline SMT these days

It's not going to be handheld. There is no reason to think it would be, but there are lots of reasons to think it isn't.

Much more popular? No, not at all. More accessible? Yes.

Wut.

This is completely wrong. Persona is vastly more popular.

TGS is a dying event.

Getting Famitsu is bigger than TGS now. Don't know why people seem confident it and KH and every other magical Japan IP will show up there, new gen or not.

Uh, where are you getting this from? Persona sells more than the main series, but not nearly enough to the point where it's "vastly more popular." Hell, SMT IV is selling on par with the last few Persona entries in Japan.

Don't worry about it, there are always plenty of people to remind me that.

I don't really see how popularity automatically means that the next game will be on consoles; they'll go with the platform that costs less to develop. Monster Hunter is crazy popular and it didn't get HD console releases outside of ports afaik.

TGS believe

though that Hatsune game was a shocker.
Hatsune shows exactly what to expect for Japanese, non-Nintendo/Sony/AAA titles: localization announcements. Something like Persona COULD show up, but unless it's at a system unveiling (and likely just a name on an upcoming list, look at Etrian Odyssey) you're better off hoping for TGS or a random issue of Famitsu, and I suspect that is the most likely way to announce it.

Common sense?

No, SMT4 is selling on par with The Golden. Which is a re-release. For a dying platform. Next to to a new release. On the most popular platform in the country.

Not to mention things like the live shows, the anime series, the movie, the remix CDs, the drama CDs, the figures, the art books... They make an absolute killing from Persona merchandise.

Also it probably sells much better in the West too. Atlus knows its a bigger franchise now.

Yeah, and SMT IV is also selling on par with every other Persona game in the series of the last few years, including the original Persona 4. Not just The Golden.

And SMT IV could sell 5 times more than Persona, and Persona would still be more successful when it comes to drama CDs, figures, animes, etc. That's called accessibility and marketability. You can't market a giant vagina monster and a penis on a stick. Just because Persona is more marketable, it doesn't make the actual games (which is what we're talking about here) "vastly more popular" when the mainline series is selling just as well as the Persona series.

Way too much negativity in this thread. Persona 5 will be revealed at E3.

Nope, it'll be revealed in Famitsu or at TGS.

Persona is a niche title and debuting at E3 would just get it drowned the hell out. Besides, Atlus is more concerned with the home audience knowing about it.

Persona 4 sold 300,000 in Japan and 110,000 in the US. Ignoring the fact that it is very unlikely that SMT4 will ever hit 410,000, that was back in 2008 and the series is much more popular now.

Persona 5 will absolutely crush SMT4 in terms of sales, and I don't know how you could think otherwise.

I wish we'd finally see it at E3 but I doubt it. TGS is where I expect it to get shown.
That said, pllllleeeeease I need this game yesterday.

I agree with the crowd. It'll be a PS3 exclusive, and it'll be at TGS and not E3.

I'd be cool with it being a Vita exclusive as well.
