iOS Gaming July 2013: Filled with unethical beverages, like Lipton Brisk Iced Tea

That's their piracy prevention method. It unfairly affects people who buy the game on jailbroken devices, but hey what can you do...

Wow. First time I've heard of that as a preventative measure.

Annoying still how sparsely implemented iCloud saves are on games still. I'm sick of hearing it's "hard" as well. Every iCloud supported game I have hasn't ever cocked up.

Wish Apple got a bit more console like in their standards. iCloud games should have a badge like the + for universal titles. Hell... iCloud saves should be a pre-requisite for "universal" games. If Gaffers doing the spotlight pics can see this fact, why can't apple?

Yeah yeah, I know it's the rich mans dilemma, but I'm sick of choosing what "Style" of game suits iPad vs iPhone. What if my wife steals my iPad to go watch netflix on and I wanna play dammit?

It seems good but I only really like those games in single player. Need to add some DLC or something because I'd throw a couple of bucks at it (call me stupid if I just missed it).

Just wanted to address this again; we've been talking about this since your reply and are thinking about adding some kind of single player mode to Swords & Arrows in the future.
It was originally only planned as multiplayer game, but we realize there are people who prefer to play alone for various reasons, so we'll look into it! We're a small team with limited time and resources though, so it probably won't be included in the first DLC pack, but we'll do what we can. :)

I've started adding games in the Update section that I feel deserve highlighting, poke me if there are others you guys spot. :)

Well, I did already mention Groove Coaster Zero =p I think the latest songpack update is definitely worth it finally getting a spot in one of these threads:

With Swords & Arrows, I'm a little confused on what I can or cannot capture and when. I go over things like gold mines, but then don't seem to be able to capture sometimes? Is it a specific unit that can, or do they need enough "energy" or something?

Yeah, you can only capture buildings with the swordsman. The HP of the unit doesn't matter as long as it's alive. Also, if you start capturing and then move your swordsman away from the building, you'll lose your "capture progress" and have to start from scratch, so to speak.

BTW, we're adding a new tutorial with the next patch that should make things a lot easier to understand, it should be available in a few days. :)

1) Joe Danger @ 0.99 - Worth getting?

2) Found this cool physics puzzle game Bezier.
Here's the Appshopper link and there's a lite version too

3) I asked this about Tiny Thief on Toucharcade but no one knows, so I'm asking here:
Is this game more of a stealth game or a puzzle game? Is there ony right way to beat levels (right interactions in the correct order at the right time) or is there more freedom to experiment?

Dumb question but ive started that iesabel game and I can't figure out how to open the wooden door in the first arena?

Edit. Lol found the gate key. Ignore.

Why is this question still a thing?! It's NINETY-NINE CENTS. Just buy it! Don't like it? That's one less coffee refill tomorrow, or one less bag of chips, it won't kill you.
Only have $6 to spend, want to save space and $ for Breach & Clear and Tiny Thief

Get on iOS 7 and fix the crash to homescreen bug when initiating combat so I can participate! Pweeeeeaaseeeee
Ah! Sorry I didn't reply earlier! You can resolve the problem in iOS 7 by going to the options menu and turning off the Everyplay feature. Goddamned third-party SDKs aren't iOS 7-proof. :)

Also, mucho gracias for putting the info for Mercs up in the OP!

Well, SE really wants to go the iOS route with their games they are going to get treated like I treat all iOS games. It is too expensive, I will buy it on sale.

Some of their games are good value for money even at full price. Others, not so much. Are you talking about any game in particular?

Ooh, Swords & Arrows! Great to see more people flying the turn-based strategy flag high. :D

Speaking of TBS games... Ravenmark: Mercenaries has hit the App Store worldwide! EDIT: I see bonesquad beat me to the punch, heh

Go grab a Commander name of your choice while we're still in the early days. Would love to get into some head-to-head battles with other Gaffers!

In line with the health benefits of extremely unethical beverages, Mercenaries is free to play with IAPs. But... please trust me when I say that we've done our best to balance the game and steer it far away from paywall or pay-to-win shenanigans. You don't have to spend a cent to enjoy the game and defeat other players as long as you have the tactical wit to overcome them.

If you decide to spend money, it'll be to pick up new brigades to change up your style of play - much along the lines of League of Legends. (You can also grind within the game to earn silver and grab the same brigades.) We're not very interested in heckling you to give us money if you don't want to.

For the Game of Thrones fans, you'll have a rad time customizing a banner to outshine the high lords of Westeros. Heh.

Quoting this for prosperity!!

HYYYYPE.

Anybody interested in playing against me, please add me. my GC nick should be smiley1790 for those that don't have me already. A lot of boardgame-gaf should have me on their lists already... :p

League of Evil 3 is really stupidly hard. It might be one of the hardest platformers Ive played considering its basically that hard from the beginning.

Ahoy! We're using our own servers instead of Game Center for our match-making, but feel free to grab the same Commander name in Mercenaries and you're good to go.

I realized that once I was ingame lol. I grabbed my GAF-nick (Smiley90) for easier use.

Normally I'd feel the same way you do, but I'll tell why that is a fair question: not everyone has a credit card linked to iTunes, sometimes you just have a few $ left on your account and there are plenty of people who have their main account linked to an AppStore region which prevents them to acquire new iTunes $ cards in a matter of minutes. So it's more a matter of "don't wanna waste my last few $ buying this when I could buy that... which one is better? Is cheap game X worth it?".

To the original poster: Joe Danger is a fine, cute game with plenty of content, it doesn't compare to the main games (much more simplistic) but it's still good. A REDLYNX TRIALS game is coming this year, we'll SE how they'll go about the digital input "problem" which has plagued the other games in the genre.

Exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself

Like I said above, only about $6.50 and 1GB left.
So Joe Danger looks cool and got tons of praise but Breach & Clear and Tiny Thief are coming soon, Sprinkle Island just came out, Foursaken's Monster Adventures is coming out later this summer.

I might not get B&C cause I just got Frozen Synapse on PC, but the others I definitely want.

Wish Plants vs Zombies 2 was not a F2P game. Getting to the pirates section was a pain of replaying a bunch of levels over and over again to collect enough stars to get there. Or pay $5 to get through. Plants that were free in the original game now cost extra too. All of this just bogs down what is an otherwise great game. Do I expect them to make truckloads of money this way? Yes. Do I have to like it? No.

Do you need to still have ep5 on the TWD app to get your save working with 400 days?
Also, after having played 400 will I be able to delete the app till Season 2 comes around? Are there cloud saves? Or something I could back up via iFunBox?

Just a small skirmish mode against AI would be very helpful.

Not sure about iCloud but can at least of ingame and delete the downloaded IAP episodes to conserve space.

No problem about the OP. :)

But I can't reach an options screen to turn off Everyplay. You don't have an options screen on the main login menu (design flaw) and if I log in, I'm put into combat phase automatically as my commander and game is fetched and then the game crashes. Halp!
