Good horse riding animations/mechanics

There were stables and a horse racing track. Missed opportunity.


I remember crashing a plane into the horse track and then looking at the massive empty area they had designed and has no part to play in the story.
I get the feeling maybe horses were supposed to be in it at some point but cut late.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I'd love to see mo-cap for any future in-game horses, but it must have been difficult to do.

The fundamental problem is it's pretty much impossible to get a horse up to full gallop and then stop again safely in the size of even the largest mocap studios.

We worked with Weta to relocate and set up their equipment in a barn in the country, tagged up a horse and rider with markers, opened the barn at both ends, then ran the horse through the middle.

Horse animations bug me alot (I been riding since I was a child)

Horse have a mind of their own they buck, kick, roll, double barrel kick, and it's rarely shown in games (Red dead redemption did it ok). They can also refuse to jump as well.

The gallop requires alot of room and to get the down transition to another gate takes a good amount of space as well.
