This brings back so many memories. Perhaps Nintendo will be able to do what Sony did and eventually right the ship...

This is gut-bustingly heartbreaking.

I certainly wish NPD would be more detailed in the software breakdown, but Nintendo's gotta put on an hour and a half Wii U blowout direct if they want to change things around for Christmas.
No one gives a shit about Nintendo Direct except for the people who are already huge fans. Those things are really useless when you talk about effective advertising.

Hmm, just noticed the "best November hardware ever" bit.

I have November 2008 at around 5.45M (if others have other numbers please add or correct).

So far we have XB1, 3DS and 360 at a combined 2.32M.

So the remaining hardware has to make up at least 3.1M or so?

Maybe the Wii U did okay? (Okay as in 300K and not terribad 150K)

I think they mean revenue wise. Selling a lot of consoles at $400-500 will do that for you.

Well, looks like the Wii U isn't the only Nintendo platform with disappointing sales.

Need numbers though.

I'd celebrate if I shifted 750k units in 30 days.

Lol. Getting some serious deja vu from this. Please tell me this is a reference to that PSP fanatic from way back when and not actually serious.

I wouldn't bet a penny on that you know.......

And 3DS performance is seriously disappointing.

Eh I'll check again when creamsugar is here since the thread is starting to take a turn for the worse. For now, I think everything seems in line with gaf expectations except 3DS which sales are underwhelming, It's surprising since for the last few months it has been performing slightly higher than expectations.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
...Wouldn't that mean 2DS isn't counted, then?

I really want to know too! I was joking when I said the report said 3DS only and did not include 2DS but I'm seriously doubting the legitimacy of the report as 2DS is not mentioned hahaha!

Need....numbers.....

Gotta say, for a console that:

1) Was apparently $100 too expensive

2) Has yield issues that will affect hardware production

3) Has a camera no one wants

4) Has a broken OS

The One seems to have sold pretty well.

No one ever said it would not sell well at launch, and if they did they were delusional. The price factor and camera will come into play after the holidays and we will see then if they are a detriment.

I personally think they will.

MS's statement is factually incorrect then. To do a valid comparison you would have to also take a 9 day period for the PS4. Even if we assume that the PS4 sold 0 units for the 8 days after launch, they could still say they sold 1 million in those 9 days, which means they still sold "faster" than the Xbox One based on MS's metric of "average sales per day".

If we aren't going to compare with the same period of time, then Sony could also just use their launch day and state, "Over the 1 day period, we sold an average of 1 million units!"

Exactly right, Microsoft WTF?

Callahan called attach rates of software to hardware “strong,” with PS4 attach rates “exceeding those of the launch months of both the PS3 and the PS2.”

He added that PS4 “led U.S. hardware sales for the month, and marked the highest first month sales of a hardware platform on record.”

“when looking at sales on an average per-week basis, Xbox One led PS4. Keep in mind, however, that supply typically becomes constrained in the second week after launch.” He added that Xbox One was the “second highest selling platform for the month, which marked the largest launch for a Microsoft console.”

PS4 sold between 909k and 1.6 million...

Wii U and Vita below 909k...

Who is Creamsugar? Does he have direct access to the data and just posts it in the thread?

I think cpp_is_king might be an NPD plant looking for leaks. His questions are too pointed and worded strangely for a casual questioner. If he was as dedicated to finding the information as his posts would seem to indicate, he would've just searched the threads himself. It's like he's trying to get us to out any potential leakers of data.

Could be wrong. :p

Edit:
Based on later posts, leaning toward me being wrong. Good. Keeping any plants out is a good thing. :)

Does "predictions" mean Pachter's ridiculous prediction?

:lol

probably. I'm not aware of any other high profile predictions worth commenting on.

150k is a REALLY low bar anyway, it would almost have to beat that. Vita coming in less than that isn't really a shock, it's dead here.

Were there really that many people besides the people who claimed consoles were all dead that thought the One would do badly during launch?

Not sure.

I'm just saying, that in the lead up, these are the things "insiders" were all "leaking". Pretty decent job for a console that had a disastrous PR campaign.

Nintendo employees have already gotten their memos detailing Plan Upsilon: if any journalists or investors ask about the Wii U, just look at them with a confused expression and ask what a "Wii U" is. When they continue to press the issue, tell them that they've gotten a dream or hallucination confused with reality, as Nintendo has never released any such console.

If all else fails, show them newspaper clippings and online articles of the highly successful "Wii 2" sales from 2010; other articles listed the on fake sites and papers will convince them that they've entered an alternate timeline via a vortex or are the only person to retain their memories of the old timeline after a time traveler stomped on a butterfly.

Pokemon dropped out of the top ten that quickly? The lack of ALBTW is also weird

I think the next-gen boom + no major sales on Nintendo titles in November may have caused that. I'm curious to see how close Zelda and Mario are to the top 10 (I suspect Zelda is close.....not sure on Mario).
