Media Create Sales: Week 50, 2013 (Dec 09 - Dec 15)

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
3DS very strong, but the heavenly days (of the market, I-d say) are behind
Good to see Wi U alive, at least there is still some interest in the console, if price is justifiable (during holidays) and with some software (mario and dq last week)
vita changed pace compared to last year, similar to teh wiiu. more stable during the year, less peak during the holidays
ps3 is saturated, lets see the ps4 how will be received

software wise, incredible debut for PDZ, very good pace for attack on titan, great performance for various 3ds old games, good legs for mario

God Eater 2 off the chart, literally.
The first one had a LTD of around 800k right?

For a full fledged sequel released on 2 platforms, with an already established fan base, I'm pretty sure Bandai Namco is disappointed.

I know it was launch, but we're taking about a 42% drop when the Wii U finally has its killer game in an ootherwise empty home console market.

Expectations should be higher than this.

That is a hell of an opening right there.

Its pretty weird how the Sony line of hardware isn't seeing a similar bump from the holidays as Nintendo is.

Consider the people who are most interested in the Vita or PS3. Are they more likely to have been bought the system by family members, or are they more likely to buy it themselves? Family appeal has its advantages.

I play it daily and I haven't paid a penny. I very rarely run out of stamina, and if I do I've always got magic stones to hand anyway. Stamina replenishes in full when you level up too which always seems to happen just when I want it to. I've played much, much worse as far as IAP goes.

I don't know if I'm getting lucky because I log in every day (which gets you bonuses), but I've never felt the need to open my wallet.

Yet the PS4 broke all kinds of records on the back of... Killzone?

Everything sell at launch. Not saying the PS4 will not continue to sell as well as it has, because it will. But the PS4 mostly sell as well as it does now because of next gen hype and the fact that Sony has done everything right with the PS4 since February.

Pffffft I admit defeat.

Also nice Vita numbers.

Don't worry we are used to it.

You are one of the posters here who when they predict something the oppostite happens.

edit: on a second thought you were less than 35% off. I take it back, you are good at predictions.

Puzzle & Dragons is weak as a puzzle game and its RPG elements are weak too. I don't see why it sells so well , everything it does is done poorly.

It's an addictive simple to play phone game with "collect them all/get the strongest monsters" as the theme. It's not hard to understand why it's successful when you think about it in the mobile space vs console/portable gaming. But I'm not sure how well the game translated over to the 3DS vs just riding off the success of the mobile game.

I'm awaiting Kandisky's next prediction so I can have something to laugh at.

So about that Vita TV. Are we looking at three digits in sales by mid January?

PSP and Vita sales combined its not too bad.

Besides they are planning a re-release which could end up selling just as much if not more.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
So I think Nintendo is fully realizing that Japanese 3rd party support is not coming, so they are just hiring 3rd parties and letting them use their characters- Zelda musou baby.

DAMN! Go Wii U!

Nintendo saved.

Yes indeed. I dont want to jinks the Wii U or anything but it does look like the console has been saved. I am really interested in seeing how monster hunter frontier performs on the Wii U when it is finally released. Hopefully that title pushes the console sales even further.

Glad to see the rise for Wii U and Nintendo as a whole. Here's hoping the Wii U rise can be sustained but I don't it.

I really do hope Puzzle and Dragons Z comes to the North America. I'd really like to play that.

A 3ds rerelease yuck, yuck yuck.... (I'm joking btw).

Honestly the wii u is actually in pretty good stead in comparison to the ps4 in Japan at least (lol at the rest of the world). Considering how devoid they both are of Japanese support next year but with the wii u at least having some big guns to push it.

Holiday bump means little for long-term prospects especially with a (in progress) weak forecasted release calendar.

MHF is a bad game that will bomb badly.

It sounds awfully similar to what they did during the Cube days.

I am not impressed by the Holiday bump the Wii U have got. 75k in its biggest bump is nothing to be happy about. I really predict a heavy fall during the new year.

I really hope I am wrong, but as it stands, The Wii U...

Donkey Kong 2/13. Bet we see Mario Kart end of March.

Week 51 is the big, not 50.

I think it's about the best they can do at this point. Even if they were able to lure third parties onto the system, the likelihood of them actually succeeding their would be minimal at best.

lol, my prediction on Vita being 35k at most is right, never thought that will happened
Good number though, but even moreso on Wii U. Keep going Wii U so I FEU even more feasible for U!

Its nothing to shout about, or as some foolishly think is a turn around, but it definitely surpassed expectations. That has rarely happened WiiU (at least in a positive manner).

Looking at GCN:

It stayed at 66k for weeks 50,51, and 52 before dropping to 13k.

WiiU may follow something like this.

GT6 isn't even going to make 400k LTD.

Also, repeating form last week, but it seems the 3DS has peaked. 2012 seems to of been its peak, weird considering this year it got MH4 and Pokemon this year.

35k for Vita isn't good at all. Why do people keep saying it is? It's mediocre at best.

3DS might not hit 5m YTD...well I guess it depends largely on next week, but this week is slightly lower than I'd have expected.

I had only this thread open and reloaded to see the new posts and giggled at your obviously joke suggestion.

Then I opened the Gaming page...

At first I thought good numbers.

Then I saw Last Year's numbers for this week...Everyone is down save the Vita.

Not liking that YoY negative trend.
