40 ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Rumors That Turned Out to Be Completely False

http://screencrush.com/captain-america-civil-war-false-rumors/

The months and years leading up to a major superhero franchise are marked by an endless parade of rumors, spoilers, and scoops, a few of them accurate, most of them wildly and sometimes comically false. Previously, I’ve compiled dozens of phony rumors about Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today, it’s all about Captain America: Civil War.

Get ready for 40 different false rumors about Marvel’s latest mega-blockbuster, many of which were printed (and reprinted and reprinted) online along with some variation of the phrase “take this news with a grain of salt.” If this trend continues, the movie journalism industry will be singlehandedly responsible for a worldwide salt shortage.

4. “Hawkeye’s wife totally gets killed by Crossbones.” — Movie Pilot

Agent 13, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) a.k.a. The Falcon.” — Point of Geeks

Sharon Carter was in a promotional art once wearing a suit. Whatever happened to that. I think this was before the spiderman was confirmed for civil war.

The only one of these I've even heard of is Latino Review.

Whoops, wrong movie.

Also the phrase is "bookend" not "book mark" lol

These soutces will just change their name?

They got an inferior product in an aggressive marketplace?

There seems to be some weird marketing hold up with Scarlet Witch, so I think Sharon was used as a Team Cap placeholder in a lot of that art. I assume it's something to do with the shared rights.

Someone told me Captain America dies, and I was like "Great, I could have done without knowing that," so I was glad when it turned out to be false.

I do wonder if some of these things were considered or "true" at an early stage of production, but were changed.

Or they just were completely wrong.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I feel like once they get confirmation that a character is in the movie, they rush to post a story rumor based off arcs from the comic. That's the only way some of these could possibly be so off. Less rumor based off an inside source and more speculation based off the direction the comics went in. Which is stupid.

They'll still get away with it. People don't remember all the times you were wrong two years ago. They will remember that one outlandish "rumor" that you got right. These places will still throw shit at a wall to see what sticks, and people will still post it while the films are in production.

I was actually surprised that Peter didn't lay the "great power" line. Tony gave him a great opening when he asked why he did it.

Can't speak for everyone else, but I was actually shocked that #2 didn't happen. I thought it was a certainty and that the would resurrect at the end of Infinity War 1.

#12 is totally happening in Infinity Wars. They didn't set that up in AoU to not have a payoff later.

It was a bit of a surprise to me as well since Evans doesn't seem to care much for the character.

I remember people saying Red Hulk was going to show up, and I would've been fine with that if regular Hulk was still around.

I was actually really happy Zemo turned out to have nothing to do with Hydra and that he didn't have some huge world-ending plan. He's probably my favorite MCU villian to date (not counting the Netflix shows, because that's just not fair).

I thought he loves playing the character, it's the press junkets he hates.

Evans made some comments about how he wants to do some directing and it sort of got pushed around as Evans hates his role and hates acting and wants out. That basically sparked the whole Sebastian Stan has been optioned for upto 9 movies so obviously Cap is being killed thing.

Evans clarified as you said that he loves being Cap and is not pushing to be removed or anything and is quite happy to keep playing Cap. If anything it will simply mean Evans will do less Non-Marvel roles while he pursues directing

I really wish there was some more accountability in media journalism. Like, I get that sure it sholdn't be taken too seriously considering these are just comic book movies, but letting websites just mouth off whatever they want with no consequence is grating.

The funny thing about people being so sensitive to spoilers is that half the time they turn out to be false, either because they are completely bogus like these ones, or just the result of trolling.

So really even if you read a "spoiler" it's not really a spoiler until you see for yourself whether or not it's true

#14 was kind of true. Tony created his actual suit and gave him the web shooters he'll use going forward.

The shooters were the one thing that Tony was impressed by, and more than likely the one thing on the suit he didn't replace.

Edit: And then I remembered the after-credit sequence. Nevermind.

this thread needs a SPOILER moniker to avoid having people accidentally drift in, get spoiled due to the lack of SPOILER warning on the thread title

Wouldnt be surprised if the whole foundation for that rumour was that he moved it a little in Avengers 2.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Its not just those sites. There are many on this forum who have their personal theories too which they pass off as a sure thing. I have read about Zemo being the big bad who will unite Stark and Steve in the 3rd act, from those people who defended Doomsday reveal in the BvS 2nd trailer thread.

Also funny how people claim there's a Marvel formula in these Marvel movies, yet they are so horribly wrong with their 'rumors', its not funny.

I love when bullshit rumour sites get called out online. Someone needs to do it more with video games rumours.

Plus someone really needs to call Pachter out on his 'predictions'.
