IP owned by Sony and on multiple platforms? PC I'd understand to get rid of the don't move sections. Remake? Why lose actual starpower? It looks great still.

If you own it on PS4, play it and let's party like pornstars.

Cause it runs like shit.
Its a slow paced game, i had no problems with performance on my base PS4. Game has unlocked framerate so already runs at 60fps on a PS5. This rumor is BS. If anything it must be a PC port and maybe PS5 upgrade.

Said it in the other UD thread, so just repeating it here:

A remake wouldn't make sense. I could understand a next-gen upgrade, although I fail to see the reason for it.

Also the tweet mentioning consoleS instead of just PS5 smells like BS.

Why would they remake this QTE game? It was fun on PS4, and it still looks good. Probably runs well on PS5 since it was unlocked.

This was great but I don't see why it needs a remaster so soon. Unless it was a free upgrade, but we know that's not happening.

There's much older games people have been asking for remakes of.

Probably coincide with the pc port. I thought the issues they had though were inherent to the engine (performance). Be interesting to see if they are fixed

I think as a general rule if we should ever see Sony do a remaster/remake going forward there are a couple questions to ask ourselves:

1. Are they doing this for an eventual PC port?
2. Are they doing this to add PSVR2 support?
3. Are they doing this because they have a TV show/movie coming and want to present a more modern version of an older game for folks to experience?
4. Are they doing this to test the waters for a dormant IP to gauge interest for possible new future entries?

I think that'll cover the vast majority of reasons for a remaster/remake to exist.

As I mentioned above, if this Until Dawn remake is happening then number 1 and 2 are the likely reasons. Although #3 could possibly be something that happens with a Halloween-adjacent release date I suppose.

Doesn't make sense, it didn't sell that well, did it? It doesn't need a remake or a remaster.
And this:
AccountNGT states current-gen console(s) but that wouldn't be possible as Sony owns the IP for Until Dawn and Publishing rights. So take this with a grain of salt unless they meant just PS5.

Original game looks as good as new releases

Probably a PC port or PS5 upgrade (maybe both)

They should make a sequel already. Those Dark Pictures games doesnt scratch the same itch.

It doesn't make sense at all and I bet it's totally wrong. Until Dawn is a PS4 game that runs on PS5, so doesn't make sense to remake it unless it's for PSVR2.

If something they could make a 'director's cut'/'remaster' for PS5 and PC adding the typical next gen improvements, tweaks and addittions plus some extra content for a $10 upgrade. Or maybe (something I wouldn't like to see) Supermassive could buy the IP from Sony and release it on Series X too.

Or even better, something that would make more sense: they could do a sequel with Sony or (something I wouldn't like to see) a multiplatform spiritual successor published without Sony.

Hermen, listen: I loved Unttil Dawn and saw a huge potential there for future games, give it a next gen tweak plus a sequel, acquire these Supermassive folks and help them grow.

Supermassive folks, listen: I think you improved a lot with Until Dawn but you got stuck with Dark Pictures, I think going with Sony would help you to grow and improve reaching the next level plus potentially bringing some of your games to the cinema or tv shows.

Sounds completely pointless and literally nobody asked for it, so I can only assume the rumor is true.

Sony has a goldmine of old titles from PS1/2 to remake and they still choose shit like TLOU and now this..
I’m guessing because of less effort required. Those games already look good while PS1/2 gsmes would take a lot more work to look modernized. Yeah I rather see some older games as well because they definitely could use it more. I rather get an Until Dawn sequel instead.

That would just be stupid.

Until dawn is a really detailed ps4 game already.

I could understand why they’d do this though as their dark picture games are neither as good or as good looking as until dawn.

I really enjoyed until dawn but couldn’t get through more than a couple hours of man of medan.

Just partner with Sony and borrow a Sony dev’s engine again and make an original movie game not this remake…

The rumour of Supermassive working on new projects for Sony is probably true, but I dunno if they'll come back to Until Dawn.

I can’t see the point in a TLOU remake, so don’t even get me started on this.
This is the silliest thing I ever seen.

Why do companies makes videos games again? Oh.. yes money. TLoU1 Remake will sell 3 million copies easily.
I can see them making a Until dawn Remake VR and PC release. It was suppose to originally be a Move game.

Yeah, this is probably a remaster and not a remake. It's still a fantastic game nonetheless.

PC + PS5. I highly doubt it'll come to Xbox since Sony own the IP.

Unless..

Sony is feeling dangerous and wants the $$$

Surprised there are still people who are pushing this narrative.

The LOU2 plays SO much better than LOU1, so unifying the playing experience gives LOU1 significantly better replayability compared to where it is today. It probably should never have been a PS3 game, really pushing the system to its limits.

It was remastered, but we're still talking about a game with original assets that were 720p and 30 fps. So what is the value of that on PS5, especially as you try to reinvigorate sales of last of us 2?

4K60? 4K120? The game is seriously dated and those assets aren't going to look good just because they're bumped up to 4K. And the game design is seriously dated as well.

Not to mention that when you port it to PC you give PC users the chance to play a unified experience across both games, rather than a 10-year-old game. It's a relatively quick and easy thing to remake into a more modern game and will almost certainly save LOU2 from being a complete commercial flop.

3 Million? Dude, it'll probably release on PS4, PS5, and PC. I can see collectively selling 10+ million copies easily and maybe as much as 15 million.

It'll also get more people to play TLOU2, which will probably bring its sales total from its current 4-6 million to something closer to 10-12 million. So, ultimately, a pretty big deal overall for TLOU2 engine. Look at conservatively an extra 14 million units for that engine. We're talking about at least 700 million dollars in revenue but potentially over a billion dollars.

If the show does well, I can only imagine that the skies the limit for both games, especially on PC.

LOL if true.

I can't wait for Sony to start funding remakes of games a few years apart. "Play the new remake of Horizon: Forbidden West for PS5!".
