Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 |OT| Back to black

The gun that desperately needs a nerf in Blackout is the SDM. It fires insanely fast, has very little recoil, has a ridiculously large ammo capacity, and can kill in a couple shots. You're dead before you can even react to someone spraying it at you. A lot of people are abusing the hell out of it now.

They need to make it fire slower, have more recoil, and maybe do less damage.

Just going by what I've had success with but yea cordite and spitfire are the best guns in blackout in my opinion and i rarely use smgs in traditional multiplayer.

I’ll have to test it out. I do find that the guns handle differently for some arbitrary reason between the two modes. Like the auto shotgun is awesome in MP. I agree it’s poo in BO. I wonder why that is.

Yesterday my entire squad was wiped out by one dude laying prone with an SDM. I had no chance.

normal multiplayer is such baby garbage, i'm getting first place with the default pistol and knife operator almost every game

The new patch added animations for getting into vehicles and you can´t start driving until it completes. Makes bait vehicles more consistent and drive-bys a little riskier. You also can´t escape a gunfight with an atv as easily anymore since you´ll basically have to stand in one place for a bit while the other guy drills you. Minor change but I like it a lot.

Blackout makes me so freaking jittery and paranoid especially with surround sound headsets..

I just got this on PC (have it on Xbox too) and the KB/M controls are kicking my a$$ ...anyone else transition from strictly controller to KB/M?

It’s been a common rhetoric online that survival is more difficult on pc with mouse players. I guess it’s possible the direct input overrides a guns weight properties facilitating ADS aim of eg. an LMG no different to an smg or pistol.

This happened to me playing PUBG on pc after playing FPS games on consoles for years. I hate to say it but does take awhile to adjust.

I just really want to learn them . When things are going according to plan it fun win or lose for me ..but when I get surprised or am nervous I start smashing buttons(normally the wrong ones) and end up doing something wrong ..gotta work on that muscle memory edit: I even grenade myself when not nervous!!

The sensor dart only lasting like 10 seconds felt really confusing at first, but it's probably a really smart change.

I unlocked Seraph and Nomad in one session. That was nice. They changed Nomad's requirements so you only have to kill 2 people without taking damage (instead of having to kill 3 people with specialist skins which was the worst requirement).

I'm about to prestige for the first time in the near future, and I'm not really sure what to spend my second unlock token on. Should I go for the VKM, the SAUG, or the Swordfish? So far, I've only use the VKM, and it's pretty fun. Unless the SAUG feels better than the spitfire, I'm leaning towards the VKM? Which is your favorite and why?

I chose the Swordfish as my first perm unlock. It's the latest gun you unlock and it's quite powerful. But I like burst rifles in general, so that was a no brainer. They also slightly buffed the Swordfish recently and with its operator mod, it can be a real beast. I haven't even used the saug yet, so I can't comment on that. Same for the VKM.

Treyarch has shared on social media what to expect this week in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

It all begins on Tuesday, Nov. 20 with the release of Nuketown on Xbox One and PC. The fan favorite map returns to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in MP and is available for free for everyone. The map launched on PS4 last week.

In addition, starting November 21 and ending on November 26, Quad Feed will be live — which is 2XP in MP and Zombies, 2X Merits in Blackout, 2X Tier Boost in MP and Blackout for Black Market Tiers, and Double Nebulium Plasma in Zombies. This will be the first Quad Feed weekend celebration for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Treyarch has also confirmed that Zombies will be live in Nuketown Island in Blackout on Xbox One and PC starting Nov. 20 to celebrate the release of Nuketown on those platforms. PS4 players had this since Nov. 13, since all new content is first on PS4 for seven days.

Nice, double XP for Blackout and tiers. I'm still not max level yet on either of those and we've been killing it in Duos lately.

Gah I already die instantly in regular MP in this game... nuketown is absolutely insane. If you live longer than 2 or 3 seconds you're lucky. People actually find this to be fun?

Like any other map, you just need to know the spawns and the lines of sight. Killcams help greatly with that. If you have full understanding of each map layout, a general idea of where your enemy will be coming from, and you're playing to your weapon's strengths, it helps a lot. I still go negative sometimes, but I definitely have my 2.0 and 3.0 K/D games as well.

Just do what this guy does:

I'm in a love hate relationship with this game.

When I get a sub 25ms ping, the teams are more or less even and I play on one of the good maps without the ultra tryhards, it's great fun.
When I get 40ms or higher ping, get thrown into matches where the score is already 32:64 (obvisously me being on the 32 points side) and get spawntrapped/jumpshot constantly, I serisously think about trading in that game.

I also firmly believe that the inclusion of features playlists and the removal of the percentage indication on how much players are in each playlist compared to the total number of player, feeds the tryhards that turn this game more often then not into a sweatfest.

If I could SEE that the TDM Playercount is low because everybody is flocking over to the flavor of the week playlist, I could avoid playing traditional TDM. But noooo, not even that is there anymore. I wonder why there is always 2 steps forward 1 step back in each cod. You would think by now they nailed the basics, but somehow ... not. Do they really program each game from scratch?

After getting the chance to use all three, I did indeed go with the Swordfish. The recent recoil buff made that gun even better. Thanks.

In other news, Firing Range Night and Seaside Sunset will likely be coming to Black Ops 4 some time in the future as free updates. Here's leaked footage of both, which might be pulled down later:

I´ve been horsing around with the bowie knife in blackout and have come to the conclusion that it is the best secondary weapon in the game, at least for my playstyle. If I´m healed and armored up I´m running into any building with no fear, if there´s some guy camping in the bathroom or at the top of a staircase he might get a couple rounds off before I get into stabby stab range and then its donezolio at that point. Think MW2 knife-build, it feels about as strong. Even if they have a sensor dart or they hear me coming a mile away its not gonna save em and god forbid I get a level 3 armor its gonna be hell on earth in there.

My go to drop spot is the building next to the zombie diner with the jukebox and I find a knife there almost every game. I recommend giving it a whirl. Just don´t run around with it in the middle of the woods or anything. Better to chase people into cramped houses and watch them panic.

The two new map variations posted about above are now in the game, along with the Safeguard game mode, which returns from Black Ops 3. In Safeguard, players take turns escorting a robot across the map. Here's an overview, along with some tips and tricks:

Question to BR experienced gamers..do the typically add new a new map any point? Or expand to new areas on the existing one? Or is this it?

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
Bought this on Friday and been having a blast.

I pretty much just play Kill Confirmed and Domination. Control is a brilliant game mode but you really need voice communication for your team to coordinate. Thats why I avoid it as a solo player.

For any PS4 users, does it take a ridiculous amount of time to transition from game to dashboard when saving a video clip? Like, nearly 2 minutes? By the time I get back into the game I'm dead half the time.

They'll change the map occasionally to keep things fresh. There won't be any full additional maps though.

Guess I got my official answer ..and sooner than I expected.

"The new video showcases a blimp on the radar between Nuketown Island and Construction Site in Blackout, suggesting the possibility that the recently teased Hijackedcould be the newest addition to the Blackout map. It makes perfect sense for the boat to be placed in that area, as there’s a lot of open space between those two locations. "

love the support this game is getting.

Me too. Operation Zero kicks off this Tuesday, 12/11/18.

https://www.treyarch.com/blog/2018-12/black-ops-4-s-new-operation-arrives-december-11-on-ps4

Here are the highlights: Biggest game update yet, with a new specialist for anyone who completes tier 1 of the new black market Contraband stream. The new specialist is called Zero, and she is a tech expert / hacker. Tiers numbers are being lowered from 200 to 100. Also available in the new contraband stream will be two new ranged weapons and one new melee weapon. A special version of Gun Game will be available to try the new weapons before you unlock them. An armor repair system is coming to Blackout, so aggressive players will no longer be punished by not having full armor at the end game. And the classic map Hijacked is being added to Blackout, as is a new armored vehicle with a turret-mounted machine gun.

Also coming to Blackout in the near future: "Custom Games, Weapon Camos, Stash interface updates on consoles, holiday map decorations, throwable Snowballs, new seasonal Special Event Tiers, in-game promos, gameplay improvements, and more."

Some Zombies updates are also coming, most notably daily tier skips and a website that tracks your Zombies stats.

For the full details, here's the blog post:

Black Ops 4’s launch is just barely behind us, and the response from the community has been incredible. Here at Treyarch, we’ve aggressively tracked daily community feedback, and we’re proud to say that many new features and content included in this update have been inspired by player input.

As you’ve seen with some of the information that we’ve already begun to share, we’re dropping our biggest game update yet next week with Operation Absolute Zero, a massive new series of content and the next phase in our commitment to making Black Ops 4 the most frequently-updated and best-supported game in our studio’s history.

Operation Absolute Zero: Multiplayer
Operation Absolute Zero introduces our first new post-launch Specialist: Zero, a versatile and deadly hacker available in both Multiplayer and Blackout. In Multiplayer, Zero can disrupt and distract her enemies using the powerful hacking tools at her disposal, bringing new counteractive measures to the table in Black Ops 4. Players can unlock Zero by completing Tier 1 in the newly revamped Black Market and immediately start testing out her wonderful new toys.

Three new earnable Multiplayer weapons make their debut in Operation Absolute Zero via Contraband tiers in the Black Market – the Daemon 3XB SMG, SWAT RFT assault rifle, and Secret Santa melee weapon – along with new Weapon Camos, Reactive Camos, and Reticles to unlock along the way. Players can also immediately get their hands on these new weapons in Blackjack’s Gun Game, one of our Featured Multiplayer playlists starting next week on PS4, and through Blackout weapon drops.

Watch for more Featured MP playlists throughout the rest of the year, as well as our new Holiday Event starting Dec. 13 on PS4 with new seasonal items to unlock. Also, read on below for details on the evolution of the new Black Market with this update, and all the ways we’ve improved how players will unlock exciting new content for Multiplayer and Blackout through gameplay in all three modes.

Operation Absolute Zero: Blackout
Next up: Blackout. Everything changes next week with Operation Absolute Zero.
On December 10, we’re setting the stage with several hotly-anticipated updates to the core Blackout experience for all platforms, including our new Armor repair system, audio improvements, SDM and Spitfire weapon balancing, and seasonal changes across the entire map.

Players will immediately notice the map’s new visual updates as soon as they jump out of the helicopter, from seasonal changes in foliage and softer winter lighting, to new smoke trails to better indicate where everyone is dropping. Subtle environmental improvements are also coming to Nuketown Island, Hydro Dam, and Factory – see if you can spot what’s new on Monday, and watch for our patch notes with more details on these updates next week.

Then, we turn things up a notch on December 11 when Hijacked debuts on PS4 as our newest Blackout destination, located on the peaceful waters of the map’s northwest quadrant. Inspired by the classic Treyarch Multiplayer map, our favorite luxury yacht becomes everyone’s new favorite hot drop in Blackout.

Once you make it to dry land, hop into the new ARAV armored vehicle with a friend and light up your foes with its turret-mounted machine gun. Players can also drop in as Zero after unlocking her, or as one of the four zombie-killing gladiators from IX after finding and completing the brand-new set of Blackout Zombies Character Missions.

We’re also amping up our collection of personalization items that can be used in Blackout in the new and improved Black Market, including new unlockable Blackout characters, new Epic Specialist Outfits, shared Warpaints, and more personalization items to use in the world of Blackout. Players will also find new weapons throughout Blackout starting December 11 on PS4 – try dropping into Firing Range next week to get your hands on the new hardware before anyone else does.

On top of the free content kicking off next week, there’s even more coming to Blackout soon with the addition of Custom Games, Weapon Camos, Stash interface updates on consoles, holiday map decorations, throwable Snowballs, new seasonal Special Event Tiers, in-game promos, gameplay improvements, and more.

Operation Absolute Zero: Zombies
For our Zombies players, the team has been fiercely dedicated to making our biggest day-one collection of Zombies experiences even better with each new update. We’ve made continuous gameplay and stability improvements since launch across all four maps, and next week, we’re proud to introduce three new free features for Zombies players on all platforms: Daily Callings, the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system, and Daily Tier Skips for Zombies.

Daily Callings provide new gameplay challenges that reward Zombies players with bonus XP and Nebulium Plasma upon completion. Be sure to check the Zombies Barracks for each day’s new challenge to maximize your earnings, level up faster, and concoct even more Elixirs and Talismans for your next record-breaking run.

Want to prove your zombie-slaying prowess to the world? For the first time in Zombies history, the new Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system gives players the ability to verify and share the results of their game online with a personalized code generated at the end of each match. The Black Ops Authenticity Stamp website tracks a variety of stats, including:
  • Number of kills, deaths, downs, revives, headshots, and rounds survived
  • Map selection, game type, numbers of players, and difficulty attempted
  • Special Weapons, Equipment, and Talismans used
  • Perks and Elixirs equipped
  • Number of Elixirs consumed
  • Match duration, score spent, final score, and more
We’ve also heard the community’s requests for a path to earn Black Market Tier progression by playing Zombies, and we’re happy to announce the addition of the Daily Tier Skip for Zombies! Starting next week, simply complete 15 rounds in one game of Classic Zombies each day for your daily bonus Black Market Tier.

With an unprecedented amount of Zombies experiences released by the end of this year, we’ve never been more committed to delivering new and exciting content for our Zombies community. Next week’s launches of Daily Callings, Black Ops Authenticity Stamp, and Daily Tier Skip in Zombies are just the beginning, as we’re also kicking off our limited-time Winter Calling event in Zombies with new seasonal personalization rewards to unlock starting December 13 on PS4.

We’ll continue to roll out more new features and gameplay content in 2019, including Factions, new seasonal Event Callings, Phase 2 of the Black Ops Authenticity Stamp system featuring deeper player stats, and additional gameplay improvements, free for all players. More details to come!

Evolution of the Black Market

The Black Market has been newly revamped for the launch of Operation Absolute Zero to streamline the system, make Tier progression simpler and more rewarding, and add new types of content that have been commonly requested from the community. Players have also asked for the ability to mix and match Warpaints with different outfits, and gain access to Warpaints without having to own a corresponding outfit. Starting December 11, we’re bringing all of this... and then some.
The new Contraband stream kicks off with 100 Tiers designed to deliver a more diverse and exciting collection of items to earn, with themes built around every 25 Tiers and more opportunities to use personalization items in new ways. Here’s what to expect on day one:
  • 100 Clearly Defined Tiers: We’ve streamlined the progression experience by reducing the initial Tier showcase from 200 to 100. Every reward for the first 100 Tiers can be previewed in the Black Market right off the bat, so you can always track your progress toward your next favorite new item.
  • New Earnable Weapons: We’re introducing our first batch of new earnable weapons in the Operation Contraband stream to deploy in your Multiplayer loadouts, including the Daemon 3XB SMG, SWAT RFT assault rifle, and Secret Santa melee weapon.
  • New Specialist Unlock: Operation Absolute Zero begins in the Black Market with our new Specialist, Zero, unlockable at Tier 1 for use in Multiplayer and Blackout.
  • New Item Categories and More Diverse Content: Weapon Camos, Reactive Camos, Reticles, shared Warpaints and new Mastercraft cosmetic weapon variants have been added to the Black Market by popular demand! Each Reactive Camo unlocked in the Black Market is uniquely designed for its designated weapon, while new Weapon Camos can be equipped across multiple weapons.
  • New Mastercrafts: Players can now earn new Mastercraft weapon variants in the Black Market, including new ABR 223 Mastercraft for tactical rifle fans.
  • New Blackout characters: Our Ultimis Zombies heroes are coming to Blackout in the Black Market! Keep an eye out for old-school Nikolai, unlockable at Tier 45.
  • New Shared Warpaints: To give players more freedom to personalize their Black Ops 4 experience, Warpaints can now be equipped with outfits across different Themes on the same Specialist.
  • Reserves Now Start at Tier 101: Players will earn cosmetic Reserve content after unlocking the first 100 Tiers of Black Market content, including all-new personalization items and a new Mastercraft. And if you haven’t completed the collection of Reserve items from Operation First Strike, don’t worry – they’re still included in Reserves for Operation Absolute Zero.
  • Content Changes: While we’re also introducing new Gestures, Calling Cards, and additional personalization items along with the new content mentioned above, we aren’t adding any new Decals for Specialist Outfits to the loot pool to ensure every item earned can be immediately equipped and enjoyed in the game. As with the rest of the game, we’ll continue to refine the Black Market experience as the Operation continues.
  • Daily Tier Skip for Zombies: As we mentioned above, all Zombies players can earn a bonus Daily Tier Skip in the Black Market by completing 15 rounds in a game of Classic Zombies each day.

"new ranged weapon" as in a completely new weapon or just a cosmetic redo of an existing gun?

Black Ops 3 saw loads of "free" weapons added to the game, which were available as random loot crate rewards. They all had different stats, models, and sound effects. They were not just re-skins. Though I am noticing the wording on here isn't concrete, and it would be possible for them to include those weapons ONLY as random rewards for making it to tier 101 and onward. Let's hope they don't do that, or a lot of people are going to be mad.

Do the game modes on pc still have a decent amount of players?
Im mostly a controller player so have the option of 1X or Pro if the game is lacking pc players.

I just watched a video from one of the biggest COD YouTubers that expressed the same thoughts:

Not sure, but I've mostly heard good things about the PC version, so I would imagine so. For me, it would all come down to where my friends were, and if I'd rather use and play against keyboard and mouse users, or controller users.

New trailer for the Operation Zero update:

Also, some leaked video of the new paid multiplayer maps, which apparently are now available in Australia:
