Hang out with Steve.
First car: 1971 Buick Electra 225, purchased in 1982. Had a 455 V8. Mine was gold with a white vinyl top.
buickelectra.jpg

1980 Plymouth Horizon, purchased in 1983. Mine was deep, deep blue.
plymouthhorizon.JPG

1986 Honda CRX SI, purchased in 1986. My first new car. Mine was white like this, had more Porsche-like wheels and the letters "CRX" in large print on the doors. No red stripe.
hondacrx.jpg

1988 Mazda MX-6 GT, purchased in 1988. Needed more room. Mine was white and was a GT (this one's an LX). Had the turbo, rear spoiler, etc.
mazdamx6.jpg

1990 Ford Explorer Sport, purchased in 1989. Got stuck in the snow one too many times in the MX-6. Plus, I was doing a LOT of outdoor activities, camping, hiking, caving, etc. and wanted something with some off-road capabilities. It was EXACTLY like this one:
fordexplorersport.jpg

In 1992 I got married, and my wife had a 1984 VW Rabbit similar to this one, although it was white:
vwrabbit.jpg

1993 Ford Explorer Sport, purchased in 1993. The '90 had developed some issues, so we traded it in on another Sport. This one was blue, but otherwise pretty much the same as the first one.

1994 Mazda MX-3, purchased in 1994. The Rabbit gave up the ghost, so my wife needed a new car. It was exactly like this one:
mazdamx3.jpg

About this time my wife started working with horses extensively. She managed a couple barns for people, took care of horses when people went on vacation, that sort of thing. It was her full-time job. So we traded cars -- she got the Explorer, and I got the Mazda. Which led to:

1996 Plymouth Neon, purchased in 1996. I wasn't a huge fan of the MX-3, it was a bit too small for me. So I traded it in & got the Neon instead. It was exactly like this, and was my first car with ABS:
plymouthneon.jpg

1996 Ford Explorer V8. My wife had two horses, and wanted to get a trailer. Trailering with the short wheelbase manual transmission V6 Explorer Sport wasn't really an option, so we got the Explorer V8. It was black, but essentially like this:
fordexplorerv8.jpg

1998 Volkswagen New Beetle Sport, purchased in 1998. And then it began. I bought my first NB right away after the introduction. It had the 2.0l gas engine, automatic (long commute in those days), and was black.
darthvw1.jpg

2000 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS, purchased in 2000. We were in a money-saving period of our lives, and the Explorer was eating gas and had high car payments. My wife's trailering needs had pretty much ended, and she had been working full time as a computer game artist for a couple years, so we decided to trade in the Explorer & get another Beetle. She inherited the 1998, and the new one was mine, a limited edition "Reflex Yellow" NB with the 1.8l turbo engine, leather, 5 speed.
Image-46C59D30B0B411D7.jpg

2001 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS, purchased 2001. My wife deserved a new car, and the '98 had developed some issues. So we bought the 2001 with the 1.9l TDI diesel engine. Fantastic gas mileage. In 2002 we put in a chip upgrade which made it almost as fast as the Turbo bug, while still getting 40-50MPG. We'll get rid of that car when it falls apart -- hopefully after another couple hundred thousand miles (it's already got almost 75k miles on it).
Image-46C5B644B0B411D7.jpg

2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible GLS, purchased in 2004. This is my mid-life crisis car. The lease on the 2000 had expired, so I gave it back to the bank & got the 'vert. It has the 1.8t turbocharged engine, manual transmission, sport leather seats, xenon headlights, etc. etc. It's loaded and I'm loving it :)
ovaltine.jpg

And that's it! So what's your "fleet" looked like over the years?

I had a Horizon, MX-6 and the Neon is still my current car!

The Buick is sweet. Reminds me of a 1982 Chevy Impala I had for a summer

First car: 1982 Ford Fairmont. AWFUL but my parents gave it to me so it was better then nothing. Started driving in 1995.

82_fairmont.jpg

First car I bought: 1988 Chevy Berrata GT. I got it in 1996 used it to deliver pizzas in. It was very unreliable and I had a lot of work done to it, but it's hard to say if it was GMs fault or mine, since I beat the living fuck out of it.

Ray2.jpg

1993 Forg Probe GT, my first car that cost me any substancial ammount of money. I bought it in 1998 and drove it through college. It would do 135, but didn't have as much power as it should.

Frontpageprobe7.jpg

My wife brought a 1997 Grand Am SE into the mix. I now drive this to work every day. It's been relatively low maintainence, but it also sucks to drive.

803948.jpg

And the last car I've purchased (2002), a 1999 Olds Intrigue. My wife uses this to tote the kids around, and I'll likely inherit it as a daily driver when we by something new. I don't want to put my comute miles on the newest car we own.

My first car:

1978 Dodge Diplomat Wagon. It was a hand-me down. Same exact color with wood paneling and a hoss of a V8.

139568.jpg

My second car:

1987 Pontiac Safari. It was also a hand-me down. Mine was white with wood paneling. Sat 8 and 2 kegs of beer. Don't hate. Appreciate. This boat was party central for spring break.

139569.jpg

My third car:

1997 Honda Accord, silver EX. Bought her new and paid cash for her. Much love...I still miss her.

139570.jpg

My current ride:

2001.5 VW Passat GLX 4motion. Love this car. Love it.

139571.jpg

My next car will probably be a W8 Passat Variant or a chipped 1.8t or TDI.

VWs fuhevah....

DaCocoBrova

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.

Oh sh!t! My car exactly. My old one. Got stolen. I had 18" alloys, fog lamps and 20% tints though...

Not been in the driving game long. Living in Brighton I managed without a car for a long time, until I got promoted and the job required a car.

1st car, 1998
1995 Fiat Punto 90 ELX. Wanted a simple car with good visibility for my first car after learning to drive. Wasn't fantastic, but a reasonable engine and OK comfort.
510311.JPG

2nd car, 2000
2000 Ford Puma. OK, so I can drive - now I want a little fun :). Loved this car. Great direct steering, responsive engine and handling. Seems similar to how people describe the new mini as being, but I haven't driven one of those.
Pic74_001.jpg

3rd car, 2001
1998 BMW 323iSE. Got a new job which required lots of driving (75 mile round trip to work every day), and had our first child, so needed to be practical :/ Wife liked BMs, so bought a 100k miler for cheap. Turned out it hadn't done 102k miles, it had only done 2k (ex-lease and guy had died apparantly). So I got a brand new condition car for about £10k. Great drive and more practical. Kept this until
97_bmw_328is_front.JPG

Wife's car
1996 Renault Clio automatic. She wanted a small car, but had to be auto as she wasn't confident with a manual. Small auto cars are very hard to find in the UK.
Clio.jpg

latest car, 2003
2003 Subaru Impreza WRX. Relocated so no long drive every day, so persuaded the wife to give up the precious BM (I'll get another some day) and picked this up. Went for black (all my cars have been black), and most Imprezas are blue. Since buying it I've upgraded a few things, including front lip, rear spoiler and backbox, wheels etc. Loving this car - its got the fun of the puma and then some, plus practicality for two baby seats (2nd child came 2 months ago) and plenty of boot space. Going to keep this as long as possible.

The last pic is the only one thats actually of my car, the others are just googled.

I started with a beat up old Dodge Colt. Actually killed it off before I was 16 driving it in friends field.

Then I had a Ford Grandma wagon. Can't remeber what it actually was. Standard four door square box.

Then I bought a Pontiac Lemans. A total peace of shit. Bought it with a girl I was living with only to break up and get stuck with this complete peace of shit.

I then moved on to a 72 VW van. Loved it still miss it. A complete blast to own had so much fun in it.

I then Bought a 2000 Jetta. Only to have to sell it because I went to Japan.

Returned from Japan and bought a new Jetta TDI on the way home from the Airport.

My Wife had a Mazda 323. Another absolute peace of shit, hated this car. But it did run forever with no problems. We traded it on a Mazda MVP for the family.

Still have the Jetta but I bought a Smart car will sell the Jetta when my Smart car gets here hopefully in September.

I've had a few company work truck and vans thrown in there but thats about it.

1987 Honda Accord: it was a hand-me-down, but a great car nonetheless. It had a nice standard transmission and great handling. Mine was also a kickass shade of BROWN.
68_JIktcTGQgz.jpg

2002 Honda Accord V-6: Finally, my own car! I took this bad boy to college a couple of years ago, and I love it! It's black like the one in the pic with dark tinted windows. I actually like the body style of this one more than the new (2003>) model, although the interiors of the new ones are much nicer.

Please tell me the only reason you got rid of the Buick was that the engine fell out or something. That baby is FINE.

Well unfortunately that's not a picture of the actual car, which was gold with white vinyl, had a good amount of rust, and serious engine problems. I paid $450 for it (in the summer of '82), and sold it for $150 a little over a year later.

Only the Beetles are pics of the actual cars I owned, by the way.

1990 Hyundai Excel - light brown. Called it "Lil Bandit". Drove it into the ground. I mean, literally. Automatic tranny eventually died two years after I got it. My dad picked it out for $1200 in 1997. A fucking complete waste of time and money. Why I'll never have my family ever do any car shopping for me. But it got me through my co-op, and this little badboy terrorized the mountains neat Hunter and Ski Wyndham for a full year. :)

661462_9_full.jpg

1995 Toyota Corolla - white...duh. Never gave her a name. Again, drove her into the ground. Dragged my butt down the coast twice, and it too has been to the mountains many times. Got that dent in the passenger door when I tried to blast through a snow bank that was blocking my driveway. I forgot about the ice, and ended up slamming one side in there heavy. Only washed her 5 times since buying her in 1999, and my dad was responsible for it 3 of the 5 times. :( This pic is after about 6 months unwashed now. Clutch is gone, and all sorts of potential failures waiting to happen. Only got it b/c the Hyundai died one day, and I had to find another car in about a week that was cheap. This was what I got. Not bad. It was certified pre-owned, so it ran without problems, and only has problems now due to neglect. I really didn't want this car either.

661462_2_full.jpg

My new toy. 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder. The first car I've wanted and loved to death. Gonna baby it to no end, but also gonna trick it out and take it to the track on a regular basis. Planning on its first autox this weekend, and a host of handling mods on the way now. Braces and sways. :) Faster than anything else I've gotten, and fun carving up traffic. Already washed and detailed it this weekend after debadging. Got a new head uit on the way, and dropped in a short-shifter this weekend. Fucking best car ever. Oh, and I've spun it twice already, and it can get around FAST. PEACE.

1980 Ponitac Grand Prix....talk about a tank. The color was ugly(olive gree and brown) but you could hit that with concrete a concrete pole (or in my case the other way) and a slight dent, the odmeter and speedometer didn't work I gave it to my dad when I went to college in 95
s466.jpg

1990 VW Fox...I FUCKNG HATED this car, manual, no power steering, it was loud and so freaking small. It actually looked just like this. I spent so much money fixing things as they broke. a week after getting it I got a new muffler, that night a Korean guy slamed into the side of it while I was taking a right turn by the GWB, and almost flipped the car. It took me over a year to find a replacement door, every junk yard or parts place I went to always said one of 2 things..."A VW fox...whats that?" or "Wow those are really hard parts to come by" I traded my dad this for my Stepmoms Subaru Legacy, 6 months later on the west side highway the hood came fling off after stalling in the middle of the GWB.

I used to love driving place caus eof this car I hate driving.
AK90Fox-1.jpg

1990 Subaru Lgacy (not the wagon...the only picture I could find). I thought that the Pontiac as a tank. I got this car it was already beaten up :(. there's a huge dent in the passenger side door, only 2 other people owed it and neither know where it came from.

From what little info I got formt he 2 either the transmission or engine was replaced at 70,000 miles...it's now at 167,000 miles. Everything was great with the car untill I got into an accident...I rear ended a Volvo SUV who rear ended another SUV (which the driver said she saw it coming) no a scratch on either car but my fron end was pushed in, the hood had folded and I later found out I had a concusion.

My dad and I pulle dout the front end and fixed the hood the best we could...suprisingly all the damage was cosmetic, now the window switches are going...:(

Sometimes I think I should go out and buy a new hood, lights and grill and fix it up but my luck a cruise ship will fall out of the sky crushing the car as soon as I have the new hood on.
