[Blue Lou]

The CONCACAF Gold Cup (also known as the Copa Oro) is a twelve nation international football/soccer competition scheduled to take place 7-26 July 2015.

With the exception of Canada, Mexico and USA, all teams have qualified via regional international tournaments to qualify for the Gold Cup.

United States have been the host for every version of the competition since it's inception in 1991. The competition takes place every two years. The reason being it's the most lucrative for CONCACAF. Mexico have hosted some games in the past, this time around, Canada will host two Group B games in Toronto.

USA are the 2013 champions, they will play the winner of the 2015 edition to determine who will play in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Should USA win the 2015 edition of the CONCACAF Gold cup, they'll automatically qualify.

The final will take place in Philadelphia at the Lincoln Financial Field. At the press conferences to announce it earlier this year, Philadelphia Eagles President Don Smolenski admitted he didn't know which way up the trophy was supposed to be and confessed he had had it upside down on his shelf until Jurgen Klinsmann clarified the situation.

We'd be such a better squad if the defected players could play for the national team.

It's totally understandable too. The Cuban league is still semi-pro, if that.

I read on La Prensa Grafica (Salvadorian newspaper) that they expect this Gold Cup to have a hidden prize of two slots to next year's (hopefully not cancelled) Copa America. If USA, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Jamaica were to take 4 of the 6 CONCACAF slots there'd be two more up for grabs based off this tournament.

Again, that all comes to nothing if the tournament is cancelled due to corruption investigations.

DALLAS (July 6, 2015) – CONCACAF today announced that all tickets have been sold for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup kickoff doubleheader in Dallas tomorrow, Tuesday, July 7 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX. Group A begins its Gold Cup run in Dallas with Panama facing Haiti at 6:00 p.m. CT, followed by USA versus Honduras at 8:30 p.m. CT.

Organizers encourage fans with tickets to arrive early and enjoy Futbol Fiesta, the fan interactive zone located in the Gold Lot starting at 4:00 p.m. Parking lots will open at 3:00 p.m., and stadium gates will open at 5:00 p.m. All times local. The Gold Cup will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, UniMás, UDN, and can be heard on the Fútbol de Primera radio network.

I was disappointed they got rid of Pinto, but I'm not really passionate enough to get up in arms about it or blame every single of the team's shortcomings on that alone like some people. It did feel sleazy, though.

And yeah, they haven't been playing badly, they just can't win for the life of them. Maybe we're doomed to become CONCACAF's Spain.

El Salvador has recently played valiantly against Chile, Spain, and Argentina despite how bad they look on paper. Yes, we did poorly against St. Kitts and Nevis, but I still think we can surprise some people.

Meanwhile, Canada is riding a winning streak but against weak opposition.

I wouldn't be surprised by any results from Group B.

More than likely Mexico will not be on Costa Rica's side of the bracket. Honduras and Panama could give them trouble.

Mexico tends to perform better when we are the underdogs. It costs us a lot against countries who bunker up, like Cuba or the US.
