Doctor Who TV reports the third episode “Boom” saw the program only bring in 2.04 million viewers in the United Kingdom when it aired on May 18th. The episode broke the previous most least viewed episode set by the series second episode “The Devil’s Chord,” which brought in just 2.4 million viewers.

The writing has almost always been shit, even for a family show, but had some bright sparks and was pretty fun and silly.

But they've been sniffing their own farts far too much and now think they can lecture us with their woke and DEI nonsense.

I just want a fun, silly, mindless show, with maybe a tad of moral lessons for the kids.

Time for a hiatus again.

It's particularly sad, given I'll give RTD credit for having some genuine natural talents when it comes to creating a livelier atmosphere and style than the absolutely dreadful seasons of Jodie Whitaker's Doctor Nurse.

But instead of letting show live on its own terms and letting it try to be universal / apolitical, he's using it a predictable vehicle for his current cultural & sexual obsessions. Frankly, he openly hates the typical views of the common person of Britain, and wants to offend them... and that enough makes him a vile man to take over the franchise, an absolute monster more than the villains in his flimsy writing.

I tried to watch the special with David Tennant But never made it to the end. If memory serves I stopped at the bit where the disabled specialist fired rockets out of her wheelchair .............. Not seen any of the Ncuti Gatwa episodes, it was made very clear by the actors and production crew that my viewership was not wanted so I didn't watch it.

I stopped watching when this grandpa became Dr. Who. But I've never been the biggest Dr. Who fan.

21st-century Who's peak was the Matt Smith seasons.

Go back and watch his Christmas specials, particularly A Christmas Carol. Watching it now, it's like an alternative universe--the episode is endearing, filled with traditional nods (obviously Dickens, but even on a moral level, not just a surface one), it has a beautiful girl and a normal healthy romance story in the middle, the alien planet even sings thoroughly Christian carols at the peak and no one seems to be wringing their hands in nervousness about it. The whole thing is openly made to appeal to the best and most universal sentiments of the average viewers, without even a hint of trying to offend or include hot political & social elements.

When the only thing I ever watched on the BBC was The Sky at Night, once a month, on BBC 4, I thought fuck this, I'm not paying the licence fee anymore.

..and I've still watched The Sky at Night, thank you very much.

Viewership numbers falling isn't outsight the realm of normal for a tv show. 400k is a good amount though, and my understanding is that the season's opening numbers weren't that great to begin with.

In any event I'm glad I'm not a Doctor Who fan. My friends tried getting me into it for years, but I just wasn't interested. Glad I didn't, or this would've been another case of my favorite franchises going down in flames, and I've had my fill of that.

Matt’s era was the chance to take the show to a new level… and they fucked it.

Yes, yes. Replace the charismatic, energetic, likeable young man, with a surly, unpleasant, unlikeable, 60 something cunt. That’ll really appeal to all your new fans!

That’s when it started to go wrong. Jodie Whitaker and Ncuti Gatwa are just the continuation of terrible casting decisions.

I'll come back to watch the original 2005 Eccleston , David Tennant , Matt Smith Dr Who. Maybe. Drop in a little Peter Capaldi in there.. outside of that, fuck it. Lost their way. Not worth my time.

And they wonder why nobody is watching this new season, lmao.

MetroUk X account still there. I dont have an X account, but going to their X account I can get in and see some random articles (instead of a pop up box to sign up).

The problem with a lot of progressives isn't entirely the content itself (which can already be a turn off since they try to change norms into their own wild west creation), but the combative attitudes that go along with it. And they wonder why people dont like their views.

I watched a few episodes of Dr. Who in the 2000's or early 2010's?

My take is I came across the franchise too late in my life. No doubt I would have watched it in my teens and early twenties.

Ironically, for that Charlies Angels reboot, straight white males were the biggest audience. It's the women that didn't turn up to watch a girlboss movie.
No different than sports. The vast majority of women's league matches get hardly any viewers. They'd rather watch the pro men's league. The games are better and women want to watch sweaty hunky guys, not chicks.

On the plus side, women's WNBA and hockey leagues will exist for a while as the NBA and NHL subsidize them for years. They both would had already gone bankrupt by now.

Who knows. But you probably got a ton of dudes watching it. lol

Women in general just dont care about watching sports as guy (in person or TV). In fact, more men watch women's pro sports than women themselves according to these surveys. Sounds weird, since you'd think genders would disproportionately support each other, but nope.

I only mention beach volleyball due to the high probability of men watching them for one reason.

One thing I watch is K-Dramas with my wife. They all have the romance plot. I don't mind the romance but if not for my wife I would not watch as many as I do. No doubt the percentage of guys who watch romance dramas without their wife pales in comparison to those who watch with.

WTF is this???

I havent watched Who since Tom Baker.

Wtf are they doing with this???

Bolstering their social credit scores for the upcoming (allegedly) upheaval of the entire financial sector by the World Economic Forum.

Or realizing that the money they get from DEI actually incentivizes failure and promotion wise, the more people you piss off in the social media age, the more engagement and eyes on the product you get as a result. Entertainment industry is literally a machine that's been taught success comes from galvanizing your demographic and intentionally making all of your favorites works into fucking Old Navy commercials.

I love that we are in mid 2024 and companies are still confused why a tried and true product begins to fail when they start virtue signaling.
It's because those very people running and working for all those companies are the type of people that virtue signal. It's not that they're just trying to appeal to a minority of loud and obnoxious Twitter people but they actually are the minority.

It's like when people get mad at Sweet Baby Incorporated, they should realize those developers chose to work with SBI. They are as much the problem as the consultancy they hire.
