Looks like Xbox’s potential market (who are more open to western games) are pretty much topped out. Recent fallout with Square probably didn’t help, but if it didn’t offer any serious reason to buy it over PS5/4 - it was meant to tank without any meaningful support from smaller JP devs who tend to have loyal fans.

One interesting similarly between this year and last year is that PlayStation-focused third party releases tended to favour the first half of the year, while Nintendo focused third party releases tended to favour the second half.

In 2023 so far, the biggest third party SKU is Hogwarts Legacy at 166,580. For total sales, the biggest third party game is Resident Evil 4 at 241,856
