RGG has been the stand out performer in terms of PS software these last few months.

And the performance from Shiren this week has been pretty good too!

Yakuza sales look decent, assuming + 40-50% digital sales too.

PS5 has got a very good H1 coming, FF7 Rebirth, Rise of Ronin, DD2, Stellar Blade and a few others.
Its Japan so probably more like 30%
But still, sega doing well is good enough for me
its nice to finally see some PS games chart for a change. i wonder how long they stay up.
Great as always Luminoth-4545 Luminoth-4545
They'll probably drop fairly quickly, but quite a bit of good stuff is in the pipeline for playstation and Nintendo switch is in wind down mode so expect less nintendomination for a few months... though don't expect that stupid momotaro game to go anywhere for a while

Like a Dragon had a 81 COMG pre-order score so it was projected to sell around 162,000 week one. So this is good. 9 of the top 10 top COMG scores are PS4 or PS5 games. Nintendo has one game Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash that has a 7 COMG score.

At the moment......

- FF7: Rebirth.....COMG pre-order score is a 59 right now (projected to sell around 120,000 first week) with a month to go.
- Persona 3 COMG score is an 80 (projected to sell 160,000) with 2 days to go.
- Granblue Fantasy: Relink COMG score is a 27 (projected to sell 54,000 first week) Last day.

Welp, SEGA just announced that the new Yakuza's sold 1 million copies (sell-in or sell-through wasn't specified, guess it doesn't really matter). I think we can work out some likely platform splits thanks to the Famitsu numbers.

The game physically sold 180,074 copies in Japan across PS5 and PS4. The digital for sales in Japan is lower than other places, I think it's around 30%, so assuming that held up here then altogether IW sold ~ 234,096 copies in Japan physical & digital across PS5 & PS4. I would have to assume that globally aside Japan, PS at least accounted for 50% of total remaining sales, so out of 765,903 remaining copies, 382,951 are probably split between PS5 & PS4, predominantly PS5.

Leaving the remaining between PC (Steam) and Xbox, but I would have to also assume this IP is at least 2x as popular on PC as it is on Xbox, and we know the buying habits for these types of games among Xbox owners isn't high so I'm probably being really generous with the Xbox split here. Steam would account for ~ 255,300 of those other copies, and Xbox Series S/X ~ 127,650.

So I could easily see the splits as follows:

PS4/5: ~617,047
PC (Steam): ~253,300
Xbox Series S/X: ~127,650

However Steam could be as high as 3:1 over Xbox for splits, changing it to:

PS4/5: ~617,047
PC (Steam): ~287,213
Xbox Series S/X: ~95,737
It's also possible that globally PS4/5's share of the split is higher than 50%, in which case I can imagine it likely would eat more into Xbox's share than Steam's, probably at a rate of 3:1. AKA for any percentage amount you could shift from Steam's split to PS (i.e 5% Steam's split over), you could shift 3x that percentage of Xbox's split to PS (i.e 15% Xbox's split over).

.....just to put the numbers into perspective. That's my idea on what the Infinite Wealth splits likely are worldwide, because I strongly doubt SEGA give splits themselves.

Remember when IB told us Ps5 was Dead and would start selling <10K per week 😂

Some Chris clown 🤡
There was a person here saying that here.

PS5 really has done so so differently from what most people thought. Before the PS5 launched, the general consensus seemed to be that there would be a small to moderate decline in hardware and physical software, similar to what we saw happen in the PS3 to PS4 transition.

I don't think anyone predicted a noticeable increase in hardware sales and a 85%+ decrease in retail software sales.

And as far as Japan goes P3R and Infinite Wealth might as well be console exclusives, lol.

At this point that is not just applying to Japan, but also several East Asian and European countries too.

I think the biggest games for the console market in Japan for Q1 are going to be Rebirth and Dragon's Dogma 2. So its going to an excellent quarter for PlayStation.

I'm a bit worried for the state of the Japanese market after Q1 though, as the rest of the year looks mostly empty.

Well, Switch 2 is going to get it excited toward Q3/4.

I think the Xbox split is too generous. I think Japan accounts for 400K or 40% of the 1 million. 10% of those JP sales are probably PC. Out of the remaining 600K, I think Xbox is less than 5% and PC is only another 25%.

So that leads to:
PS: 760K
XB: 50K
PC: 190K

Nice work PS5.

Tekken 8 sales are quite low. Does this include digital?

Cause I know I only guy games like tekken digitally because it's something you play constantly.

Are we expecting Granblue to be big in Japan?
I think it already is on PC is if you look at the CCU numbers on Steam (9:00 - 14:00 UTC is 18:00 - 23:00 JST). Numbers started dropping when Japan (and I guess China) went to sleep.

Still curious to see how it will perform at retail though.
