Played a little offline pc, I can’t figure out if I actually have all the dynamic settings crap off. The iq just doesn’t look right. Didn’t have much time to play but the physics did feel better. Yeah it’s still forza, but the overblown loose feeling weight transfer and odd feeling grip has been traded for something that feels a lot better imo. Wish we had GT7 on pc though, ngl.

It's absolutely NOT stupid. If Microsoft is going to keep forcing Cross Play they DAMN SURE BETTER KEEP AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD!

Anyone complaining on PC about this is thinking purely selfishly.

This why I fucking hate FORCED CROSS PLAY. Give us the option or don't do it.
for racing games framerate above 60fps has like zero advantage. This isn't because of a competitive playing field, its because the devs coded the game to tie certain mechanics to framerate, which causes physics differences above 60fps on more powerful hardware. Which shows you how sloppy this game is shaping up to be, because basically no western developer does shit like that anymore for a good reason.

Game seems good, scoring in the 80s on aggregate. Most seem to enjoy it but it has a few obvious flaws.

It's a pity Forza and GT are simply not up to the standards they both set during the PS2/PS3/360 days.
I think part of it is that trackracing games are no longer a novelty that they were during those days, those games had plenty of flaws but it was something new and exciting and a great graphics benchmark. But by today we've all driven the Nurburgring a million times, we've collected and driven all those cars many times over. It's nothing fresh or new, having some better trees and spectators is not gonna blow anyone away. Games like Horizon at least have the novelty of a new map and setpiece moments but even that formula is starting to get stale.

Something going on with my GPU, performance is all over the place as its a stuttering mess with all the latest drivers, need to dig deeper

Yeh there seems to be something up, mixed reports in terms of performance on PC at the moment:

Trying to reinstall my NVidia drivers as that Benchmark showing old drivers even though I updated this morning

Hopefully the game feels good with a wheel. That has always been my main problem with Forza in the past. They have never felt good on a wheel and that's how I play my racing sims ideally.

I'm not accusing you of "shilling" in your reviews, however it's evident that if you want to stay in the good books of the people who hold the keys for your line of work a certain degree of positivity needs to be maintained (that can also come in the form of previews and general hype articles).

There's a reason why outlets like Worth a Buy (who isn't afraid to highlight all of the flaws that games have) don't get given access and are outright blacklisted in many cases.

(first 5 minutes of the video below)

General consumers who are having a chat about games on the Internet don't have such problems and don't need to have such considerations, therefore if the flaws and faults need to be discussed then so be it.

If he didn’t shill, he wouldn’t have been permed twice here on GAF.

why do people constantly lose their shit over Metacritic? the "critics recommended" on opencritic is more useful but just play the game and make your own mind up.. but of course most the people who are losing their minds in this thread will never actually play the game

Something is definitely wrong with the game on PC. It's not rendering at native resolution internally. Have to set it to 150-200% and it still doesn't look good. DLSS/DLAA don't help. Will try DSR next. I don't even mind turning RT off for a good image quality.

Have tried at both 21:9 380x1600 and 32:9 5120x1440.

Included DLSS version is 3.1.1. Replaced it with 3.5 for good measure.

Benchmark tool is kind of worthless, as sometimes the camera is behind the car and sometimes it's in front of the car, looking back.

Between figuring this out and wheel settings, it's looking like I'm going to have a long day of tweaking rather than playing.

its not that, its just the deterioration of game design. Forza's new campaign seems to try to reverse this (which i hope to see more of) but in general both franchises have lost their amazing campaigns and traded them for something not as good instead of innovating and making their formulas more fun. Horizon as well instead of improving on the progression found in FH1 will just give you supercars very quickly.

People really like driving cars on realistic tracks hence the popularity of sims like Assetto Corsa. But people also like a game that gives them a journey and an experience to work for.
if what you were saying was really true, people wouldn't be pining for the glory days of GT4 or FM4, people would just be like "oh those games were fun back then but racing games are just boring now"

Awesome, I have no interest in playing a track racing game, but I know it's going to look fantastic. Can't wait to see them.
Still hammering out some performance issues and getting through the early races (basically the tutorials) but will start taking some shots soon :)

People really expect a small studio like Turn 10 to outdo a juggernaut like PD? Unrealistic expectations.

Game should end up in the high 70s Low 80s and that's okay.
PD are a relatively small studio. They aren't some juggernaut like you stated.
Also Turn10 and PG share tech and engine, so improvement is passed on etc.

STOP IT!!! It's a good score for a racing game. The fact that it scores lower doesn't say jackshit about the game itself.

82-84 MC is now "Not a good look"

Get your fucking head sorted mate, like for real. :D :D

It's been hyped to hell as being "built from the ground up for next gen", is the first FM game in 6 years, and it's scoring 5 points worse than it's direct competitor that came out a year ago and was criticized for being cross-gen.

The disappointment is absolutely warranted. Just look at the score predictions in this very thread. It clearly didn't meet what most were expecting.

Still looking forward to playing it!

EDIT - I do see that it's at an 85 now on OpenCritic. Good to see it's more-or-less caught up to it's direct competition.

5 points? GT7 scored 87. this scored 84 (85, if we're on OpenCritic). 2-3 points isn't that much lower.

Not to mention that everyone here's ignoring the massive elephant in the room, here. The GT7 user score. It's infamously abysmal. it's been a year and it still hasn't climbed back up to an acceptable level, on both PS5 and PS4.

It was at an 82 when I looked at it earlier. An 85 is a nicer score for sure.

I'm not saying that Forza's will be higher, it could easily be worse.

What I am saying however is that Ass of Can Whooping Ass of Can Whooping should get to making 10,000 Metacritic alts for when user scores open up on Oct 10.

It's a racing game, they're fun but as someone else has pointed out in this thread there really isn't a lot of evolution or revolution in traditional racing sims. We've done all this alot with some graphical upgrades sprinkled in along the way. Seems to be reviewing solid, i will prob buy ultimate version eventually but right now not really buying games in general. Starting to feel burnt out a bit i guess.

That userscore is deserved after the always online bullshit and then having to shutdown the servers making the game unplayable. They even had to issue compensation.

I mean shit, an 85 is great as far as I'm concerned.

I was feeling a bit gloomy after seeing an 82 this morning and thinking it may continue to drop into the high 70s or something, but an 85 after the dust is settled is great.
Yeah, when I saw it, I thought something had to be wrong. No way a Forza game could end up as low as an 82 on OpenCritic.

For the full review of the game.

They did that along with forbidding any outlet from talking about the state of the last gen console versions until well after the embargo.

My view is that the only thing they should be allowed to enforce is the date and time for the review embargo, anything else should be fair game and they shouldn't need to be selective about who they do and don't give review copies to.
Now that you mention this. I remember there was a lot of review drama about Cyberpunk and trashing of reviewers because they gave it high scores and then the game came out and it was dog shit to the point where Sony had to give refunds and take it down. Yongyea I believe gave it a high score and then got swarmed on social media and then he eventually apologized and admitted he fucked up the review if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, I've never seen any game I've ever reviewed from any of the big publishers I've ever worked with to only allow B roll footage. I been doing this for over 10 years.

I believe this was a very special case scenario and a decision specifically by CDProjekt red or whoever is in charge of their PR decision. They also did the publishing, it's rare for a big studio to do self publishing as well. They don't have a traditional publisher like everyone else does.

Ive worked with a lot of AAA publisher you can think from including Bandai Namco, Sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Capcom, Activision Blizzard and the list goes on.

Game is very good now from what I heard, but it took three years.
