How much did you pay for your gaming setup?

PC with 3070, PS5, Series X, Switch, Quest 1.

I guess about 3k? Don't think it's that bad considering how much stuff I bought. Plenty of other hobbies are way more expensive

Not that much actually.

Ryzen 7 5800x RTX 3080 32GB RAM PC ~1200
27" Monitor ~500
Mouse & Keyboard ~200
PS5 + 2nd controller ~560

So 2460 base line

However If I add my home cinema gear which also gets used for gaming in the mix it gets a bit more expensive:

77" OLED ~4k
7.1 Surround System ~5k

Incomparably cheap compared to my CNC hobby :D

Ball parking on the low end...

A few thousand in drive storage

A few thousand on main components (cpu, mb, and ram)

Probably around 5 thousand on flight sim and racing peripherals

So over 10k, but it's my primary indoor hobby.

$900. PS5 digital, Switch and 1 DSE controller. Well, maybe $1130 if I add the SSD expansion for the console.

Not counting my PC, because gaming wasn't what it was primarily acquired for. Not counting my UST laser projector and screen because gaming wasn't why I bought it either. Have a $1800 PC and a $7k Qnap NAS with 96TB of storage though. But those don't count.

My wife complained once about how much I spent on gaming. I then explained to her how much my friends spent on golf. She hasn't complained since.

Exactly, and breaking golf clubs in anger are far more expensive than breaking gamepads when playing Dark Souls. heh

Never really considered this. If we mean "setup" as in all hardware on deck ready to go, I'd actually have to include a lot of old stuff, but not everything because there are still consoles in storage and duplicates. But my "setup" consists of:

NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, WiiU, Switch
Genesis, DC
PS3, PS4
360, Series X
Desktop 4690k/GTX 1060
Laptop i7/3070

So maybe it's worth about as much as one 4090?

It's a PS5 and a Switch hooked up to a cheap 1080p 50inch TV and a wireless headset. Swapping out for a bigger 4K TV this fall.

Mine will change next week. Now it's Switch + XSX + PS5

Next week it will be Switch + Series S + Pc (made a bargain brandnew Ryzen 7 5800 + 3060 Ti system for 600 Euro)

So i guess it's around 1k in total, but i might buy a Pico 4 this year.

Counting everything (PC, PS5, switch, monitor, TVs, VR headsets, steering wheel setup, and audio peripherals) I land somewhere around 13K€ :messenger_hushed:

Damn I never bothered to count, maybe I souldn't have :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Is the question about how much it’s worth or how much it cost?

Total cost for everything is too much to even want to write it out. Been gaming since early 80s and has barely sold anything at all.

Not really sure. PC setup is probably a little over $3k (obviously not all at once, plus I utilize reward programs).

Handhelds and remaining consoles Im not even sure, and to replace my game library would cost a hell of a lot of money.

Now if I still had every single piece of hardware and games I’ve purchased in the last four decades? It’d be really fucking big.

Resident Crybaby
  • Xbox Series X - $500
    • Samsung T7 1TB SSD - $80
    • Samsung T7 2TB SSD - $140
  • Playstation 5 - $500
  • Nintendo Switch - $300
  • LG C2 77" - $2500
  • Sonos Arc soundbar - $800
  • Sonos One SL surround speakers - $400
  • Logitech G Cloud streaming handheld - $250
  • Extra Xbox controllers - $180
  • Extra PS5 controller - $70
  • Extra Switch controllers - $140
  • SCUF Impact Xbox controller - $200
  • Xbox wireless gaming headset - $100
  • Charging stations and other minor accessories - $100

= $6260

Actually lower than I expected. I can live with that.

I'm just going to list the price of the "current" stuff, and not include retro consoles which I'll consider anything 2 gens prior.

LG C2 55 - $1300
Cooler Master Tempest GP27u Mini LED - $500 (though I paid $0 as I cancelled my Amazon order but they still delivered it lol).
PS5 - $500
ITX PC (3600/3060ti/16GB/2TB Gen 4 NVMe) - $1300
Switch OLED - $350
PS4 Pro 500M Edition - $500
Logitech G29 - $300

PS3 20GB BC
Halo Reach Xbox 360 S
PS2
PS2 Super Slim
PS1
PSone w/ LCD
PS Vita 1000 Black
PS Vita 2000 Light Blue/White JP Import
PSP 3000 Green

So $3750 not including the retro stuff which off the top of my head would probably go for like $1300 roughly.

Bedroom - $7k
Media/living room - $15k to $20K
(I don't have three different offices....just three office work stations I also game at)
Office1 - $5K
Office2 - $5K
Office3 - $7K

How much is it worth now? 1/4 of that easy if i were to resell. Tech has terrible resale value (well...almost all tech has terrible resale value)

Games are another story...a sad sad story and cautionary tale.
Go make friends kids.....

My surround sound is the most pricey thing I own, probably like 5k alone. Which actually appreciated in value on some things.

If I count that and all systems/wheels/gear/etc

10k

Not so subtle brag thread.

OP is probably the same guy who took pics of his switch in super expensive hotels, restaurants, etc. and tried to play it off as it being innocent.
