I was reading IGN's review on the OG Tomb Raider that was published in 1996, and the opening line gave me a chuckle

Man, the world didn't really change that much, it's just access to the internet made these opinions a bit louder than they really are. They were always there

And yet did the exact opposite and gave women a strong playable protagonist much like Jill and Claire did in Resident Evil, its almost as if people want to play as actual women and not a women acting like a "Strong" Man...

I love the Tomb Raider franchise. The first one in 1996 really grabbed me by the balls and I replayed it frequently due to how great it was. The intriquate level design and sense of exploration was something I had never seen before. But when I tried replaying it a couple of weeks ago, the oof size on those controls was legendary. It felt like Lara traversed in syrup. And the graphics... holy outdated polygon cracks, those have not aged well either. I'll stick to the Anniversary edition if I want to experience the original from now on.

A dark, terrifying vision of the future from IGN. Once they saw those pyramid polygons on the front of a game character, they knew that there was no future for gaming.

Completely agree. I remember getting my Sega Saturn and being blown away by games like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil. I had never experienced anything like them. I never completed the orignal Tomb Raider and didnt play another game in the series until the reboot in 2013 (I think I just got frustrated and then distracted by other releases at the time and just gave up on it).
