I'll have to put Standpoint on my radar. I can appreciate a good indie puzzle game.

I've been playing a bit of Ubinota and it's pretty decent so far. I'm about 4 worlds in and it's got me experimenting quite a bit. I hope I'm able to get to the end before hitting a difficulty wall.

My Let's Play of Ubinota:

There is a civilization in the clouds, made possible by using paint that can fix the clouds in space. As the levels progress you're given more and more types of paint colors that need to properly anchor to the correct fixed clouds.

It's almost like solving multiple mazes in a 3D space. Extremely relaxing and zen-like. Well executed.

As a bonus I have one Steam code (for Ubinota) to give away to some indie friends. Whoever wants it, let me know and I'll randomly select a person.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

That looks sweet, we need an OP post for it, if anyone has the time.

I don't know if this game was talked about here before, but else Heart.Break() looks promising and the visual caught my attention immediately because it seems unique, and the description plus the feature list hyped me up.

Dang it! Would have been awesome to meet y'all, and I have the new build of Shutshimi on me as well.
One day. I'd love to check out E3 and especially the indie booths at PAX. Boston's only a three hour drive away for me.

But you know, being in college and all...

Castle in the Darkness - This game pays homage to 8 bit games as you can notice by the way it looks and even in the controls cause you only use two buttons (jump and attack). In my opinion the controls are fine and work pretty well, the music may sound repetitive if you spend too much time in the same area but besides it the tracks are good. So far I'm two hours into the game but I can already say that this game rewards exploration. Recommended.

Someone ended up gifting me Plug & Play so I played that and it's super weird and super delightful. What you see is pretty much what you get, but if you're OK with the idea of a few mildly interactive vignettes doing silly things with analogous underpinnings to failed relationships, it's definitely worth checking out.

A few more words on it.

Anyone want me to check out some games at EGX Rezzed (12-14 March) that I might not already be checking out? Here's the list: http://www.egx.net/rezzed/2015/show-floor Going for all 3 days to make sure I play as much as I can.

Here is the list of games that are on my radar to play. Obviously I won't be able to play them all:

Played through Off-Peak tonight. Still trying to wrap my head around it, but I wrote a thing (I call it a review but that's probably not quite appropriate for how it turned out).

Bought Plug & Play thanks to your words. Need to give time to Off Peak, your writeup of a more cynical Jazzpunk fits great with me.

EDIT: Played Plug & Play, man that was surreal and memorable in the best way. Like an exploration on sex, love, obsession, connections. At least that's what I got out of it.

Looking over the list, I've heard of almost nothing in the leftfield collection, but they all look AWESOME. Definitely interested to hear impressions of anything there you have the time to look at.

A late Screenshot Saturday addition. Student projects are always interesting and I really like the art style here

The Right Side of Town - $3.50 (PC/Mac/Linux)
eqkm5o.jpg

http://jgwaltneiv.itch.io/the-right-side-of-town

Welcome to the future. The remnants of humanity, in the aftermath of a cataclysmic event known only as The Fall, have fled a dying homeworld to seek refuge among the colonies of the solar system.

Five hundred years later, on a decaying city orbiting Mars, an android lives in secret, passing as a human detective. When a man winds up dead in the richest district in the city, the detective and her partner find themselves taking a case where any choice could have dire consequences for humanity.

Note sure if this was mentioned or Twine games are just usually skipped, but I played and reviewed this tonight and thought it was cool enough to bring up again.
Whether as a witty cyberpunk detective tale or a deeper commentary on our tendency to conform to society’s wishes and expect the same of others,Gwaltney and Horrorshow’s Twine excursion gave me cause to think and further appreciate a genre which seems unequaled in its ability to simultaneously exist as entertaining escapism and thoughtful commentary when given to the right artist.

I was thinking about that and was worried because its apparently very short, so basically you are convincing me to buy it, alright then.

Paradise Never had popped up as one of games in Devolver's line up, but there hadn't been much info. Here's a new trailer for the game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAynnQCRF4Y

The trailer don't tell what the game is about, bunt on their site there is the explanation:

You started the revolution with hopeful intent, but it failed.

Everything you cherished, gone so quickly.

And then came the real start to your story: for reasons inscrutiable, a goddess was watching, and she has intervened. She is making you relive those three days over and over again, but with seemingly no escape.

Is it an eternal punishment, or a second chance?

Find a way to finish what you started. Or failing that: save your friends.

And a new trailer for Westerado: Double Barreled:
http://youtu.be/7ZVGfMzNXrI

Nice you can dual wield and use another weapon

Hac - Interesting concept, you start the game picking the things you need for your car trip like take a box and putting the cans inside it, picking up the car's key, putting the sleeping bags on the backseat etc. Even starting the car need more steps than mostly of the games, you need to put key, turn the key and hold the accelerator to start it. I can see a lot of promise on this game.

Now a question, did someone was successful on going through the apartment gate to the streets? Or the currently build stops there?

Eron - Beautiful art but besides it the game didn't grab me, change dimensions while you run, jump, fall throuhg platforms.

Dustoff Heli Rescue - $7.99 (WIN/MAC)

"I need a Dustoff!" became an all-too-familiar call on the airwaves of jungle wars. Now take off with your rescue helicopter and search and save the life of the wounded soldiers in the field, often under fire. If you can't, nobody else can!

Mixed reviews but it has the look of a game that I have to try.

I'm liking Castle in the Darkness eve more, some enemies have weakness to certain attacks and magics, even the bosses like the
Great White Ape, I was using the magi I found on Ruth's house but it was taking forever to kill him, so I switched back to the firrball and it became a walk in the park, I should have noticed it before, it's a ice based boss xD
.

Also the developer is evil
I fell to a pit filled with spikes but I saw a hudden entrance near the bottom, so I jumped down again and found two chests containing the troll sword and the troll armor, two item that you can't equip and there is no way back besides killing yourself on the spikes

Why did you post this nooooo - I almost have a life outside of my re-discovered love for gaming and you do this to me......

Any recommendations from previous 7drl's :p

Not going to look lol will just take up to much of my time...

Still nice challenge tho
Don't worry you still have a few days before the entries start rolling in
If you have an iDevice or Android, check out Hoplite. It's fantastic.

Quick Impressions: It literally is the mashup of Gunpoint (presentation) and Hotline Miami (mechanics). It is amazingly satisfying to play. Game requires KB&M and your aiming reticule changes based on distance + type of weapon you're using. You can go through vents and toilets sneak/evade enemies in the area. You can shut off the lights by either triggering the light switch or shooting the actual light bulb on the ceiling. There are a few ways to get the attention of the enemies. You can either quickly show yourself and then evade through the stairs, you can fire your gun within radius of the enemies or you can knock on a closed door to get their attention. It's only an alpha right now but the game feels crazy polished. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

keeper_screen803-fill-800x468.png

Quick Impressions: KeeperRL is a dungeon sim + roguelike. Technically there are two games within KeeperRL, you can either be the dungeon master or the adventurer. Going as an adventurer is basically like playing the game as a simple roguelike. The only cool twist I can think of mentioning is that after you "retire" a DM game, you can then play as an adventurer through a map that you've already completed.

The main game is all about instructing your imps to dig/cut trees to gather resources and build your dungeon. Building out areas like libraries and if they are big enough will have different monsters join your ranks. Libraries bring Orc Shamans, Training grounds bring Orcs and Ogres. Recruiting too many too fast will result in not being able to pay them in gold fast enough. You can either mine for gold or kill your enemies and take their gold. Hoarding a little gold will bring bandits to come and try to rob you. Hoarding too much gold will force one of two dragons to come and take your gold. If you cut too many trees, you'll invoke the wrath of the tree spirits.

Much like Rogue, there seems to be a tremendous amount of depth to this early access game already, but not everything is fully baked yet, like deities. For instance, you can either have your legs crushed or cut off, which will result in you limping or crawling. Likewise you can have your arm cut off and you'll visibly see that your weapon is on the ground on the map.

There is a free demo that you can try of the game, but you'll be restricted to only using the ASCII art. Additionally the game is open-source which only excludes the art/sound assets.

Highly recommended even in it's alpha state.

And there was me thinking it was a slightly slower start for March - two straight to the top of my wanted list right there :)

Deadbolt - Free alpha (PC)
tumblr_nk79636jNt1s1t3oyo1_540.gif

http://hopoo.itch.io/deadbolt

Deadbolt is a side-view action shooter made by the same developers of Risk of Rain. The best comparison that I have heard is a mix between Hotline Miami's twitch shooting and over-the-top gore along with Gunpoint's tactical traversing. You just run around and shoot things
The plan is that the more you play, the better arsenal of weapons you have. While you start with a fully loaded gun, the bullets are never enough to clear the whole building; therefore, you have to scavenge the weapons of other enemies, resulting in an almost puzzle-like gameplay of bouncing between different enemies to get ammo to kill the next.

Wow, it reminds me of an actually-playable version of one of those old Stick Death "games" that were basically QTEs (my first QTEs, come to think of it). I'll have to try that out
