Japan Raises Eruption Alert for Volcano Near Nuclear Plant

Between the earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes, maybe Japan isn't the best place for nuclear reactors... put them all in Mongolia or something.

Different volcano than the one in the OP. Sakura-jima is south of Aso.

But here is Aso when it erupted

Seeing this on a map put it into some perspective. What that map doesn't show is the hospital located at the base of the volcano for... some fucking reason...

Ladies and gentlemen, the most active volcano in Japan. 8000 eruptions in the last 50 years, over 500 in 2013 alone. Population 5000.

At first I was surprised that someone would be foolish enough to build a nuclear power plant by a volcano...but will it really be a threat 50km away?

Even less so considering a completely different volcano has erupted that is a 160km away from the nearest plant. Sendai's activity returned to normal weeks ago.
