Oh, I just remembered another one I really liked

It was that, might have been a recolor, I can't remember. But I saw the real, legitimate thing at a Chelsea art gallery and I really took a liking to it. Probably one of my favorite things from Banksy.

I'd definitely agree, but imagine a game that looks exactly like what's depicted in his work with all the weird creatures and wild colors opposed to the bleakness of the soulsborne games. This is seriously my biggest hope for their next RPG.

You should get the Taschen set. It's gorgeous. It's really pricey at MSRP, but if you wait for a good coupon on B&N.com you can get it for ~$80 - $85. I bought a copy recently and it's one of the most gorgeous books I own.

More contemporary artwork, I have fallen in love with Makoto Shinkai's work. He is a Japanese anime film director, who specializes in Background paintings. His use of light and shadow, his color palette, the amount of detail, and his phenomenally on point perspective.

There is some concept art from some of the Dark Souls games that appear to be directly influenced by his style so the influence is there by some people in the art team.

But I think a closer description of a lot of Beksinski's art is like Dark Romanticism (like Arnold Bocklin or Caspar David Friedrich) meets Surrealism (think Salvador Dali) and Fantastic Realism (Ernst Fuchs). But even that doesn't count cover all facets of his art. There is a sort of post-apocalyptic and alien weirdness that can't be compared to any of those artists and could be more likened to HR Giger.
