Looks like we'll be able to make AI generated films sooner than expected.

Seriously, I am blown away with how fast AI generation is progressing.

I haven't used this. It could be BS. But if it's as good as that video suggests, then it won't be long before anybody will be able to generate the film of their dreams.

How long do you think it'll be before we can generate full length feature films? 2 years?

Shit, I had a thread idea started but you beat me to it. My thought is even more interesting than generating full length feature films, we are about to introduce PC gaming style modding to movies and TV shows. Think the Godfather could be improved? Generate a few new scenes and replace the ones you don't like. Want Luke Skywalker to wear a Santa hat during Episode 4? Go right ahead. Thought Breaking Bad was pretty good but think it can be improved by making the entire cast a bunch of furries? The world is your oyster my friend.

Nexus Mods for video is gonna be wild.

The next great big flood will be digital. Future civilisations won't have any accurate trace of human history and ability to discern proper fact from fiction. Our grand quest to know everything is going to lead us to completely forget everything. Pretty ironic.

They sort of demonstrate that in the example video. There is a real woman walking down a street and you can use the tool to change her clothing.

I'm not sure how easy this would be with already made films. Sounds like there would be lot of copyright laws changing Star Wars so everyone is walking around naked with huge, throbbing cocks instead of lightsabers etc.

Frankly the whole AI movement is built on the back of massive copyright infringement, so if anything this will just accelerate that one court case or law that sets the stage for all future AI usage.

It's a legitimate concern. We aren't going to have any way to separate signal from noise.

It's worrying how quickly the internet has been flooded with AI-generated trash. At least the man-made trash has some charm to it.

Ever growing in knowledge but never the knowledge of the truth.

I have a suspicion that in time quite a few people will be going back to real things

Of course you'll still have the die hards with A.I girlfriends but you get the gist.

This will be fun but I doubt it will ever be long term. It's not in our core nature. Well, unless we get brain hacked.

It feels like we’ll be getting the first 90 minute feature film done completely with AI in a 2-3 years. Will it be legal ?… time will tell, but if it’s better than your average human made film Hollywood is gonna really lose their shit.

Yeah. Tech is only a tool. It should be used where it's advantageous and discarded where it makes our lives worse, or society worse. But I don’t see AI tools going anywhere, generally. The productivity gains are substantial.

This would be awesome. AI is gonna be so much fun.

I personally am benefiting a lot from AI as a business analyst at work. I can do analysis faster and work way better with SQL, etc. I even created a really nice process for testing that doesn’t give me the pains that automated QA is supposed to not make annoying.

It's the complete opposite. You'll have the die hards who will decide to not advance.
But they will be a minority. In the same way people without phones is a minority.

The bar for what "normal" is is constantly changing. Fire was strange until it became normal. Farming was strange until it became normal.
Books same thing, Radio, Movies, TVs, Computers, Internet, VR, now AI, in the future quantum technology and other crazy shit we discover.

We are fueled by nostalgia to recognise our childhood as the ideal state of the world.
Technology and advancement is only strange and scary to the generation not born with it.

The next generation will find AI normal and even integral to a normal life.

Our nature is to keep evolving.

I wonder how long it will be before we can use text prompts to create videogames

“Metroidvania 16 bit style starring Bill Bellamy on a quest to murder Brendan Fraser”

Ask me about my terrible takes on Star Trek characters
The examples people are posting on their discord aren't very convincing, but I guess they're also not using the 1.0 model.

Also concerning - they've only raised 55 million in capital according to their website. The start up I work for has gone through 4 rounds of fundraising, having raised over 100 million. After 7 years, all we have to show for it is a website that sucks dick to use as an operator and an uber rip off app. Nothing ground breaking. But we've spent twice the money as these guys, who are pursuing something revolutionary.

Waiting for AI video games. Then we'll see a whole new level of IP enforcement. 😬

In a year we've gone from blurry, stitched together images to create a horrifying video of Will Smith eating pasta, to making short Pixar like videos from using text prompts.

Making a game is a lot more complex, but with the current rate of progress I'm sure it'll be a lot sooner than expected. Which is good, because I want make my own dream RTS game and don't have the coding skills for it.

Other than porn, I think it will be mostly a novelty. Folks watch movies to be passively entertained, if they have to actively engage to design and curate the experience it becomes work.

Substitutions though, that is fire. Don't like the lead actress? Fine, replace her with AI Emilia Clarke and watch those eyebrows twitch! I wanna see Arnie in Rocky and Sly in Total Recall!

I’m now thinking about how ai would be able to completely render vr landscapes for things that wouldn’t be possible otherwise with out massive time and tech investment. Could make some really great things things

Getting closer to have a holo deck. At least AI creating interactive experiences for you. Will be limited to interacting using VR gear for a while yet however.

"Looks like we'll be able to make AI generated films sooner than expected."

At this point you can probably swap "films" out for any number of things.

The job losses are going to be crazy, even if there was a will to try and protect jobs, the idea that the legislation could move fast enough to keep up with AI's advancement is obviously a non starter.

Can't wait for franchise owners to crack down on games like Disney did with those naughty and hilarious posters. I could see Bethesda making a Fallout 6 using GenAI style tech. Or a Starfield 3. Or even a GTA meets RDR family legacy storyline.

Our current recorded history probably contains a high degree of bullshit, and curation will keep things in check somewhat, I’m optimistic AI won’t make things worse

It will be probably heavy censored like the Microsoft Bing Image Creator.

This could be a great tool for what I do in my company now. It's not easy to get food shots, etc, and this could be a game changer that will help create awesome new ads. or make it easier and cheaper.

Weirdos Online: Think of the memes!

Humans, destroying their own civilization for money and lulz.

Editing is still at thing so far. They edited the announcement video in premiere/AE. You still need to string together the shots.

I think documentary/news editing might be ok. But if this software gets taken up. It will destroy a lot of jobs in the VFX , animation, editing, modelling, depts of Foo. Companies.

It'll take some time, but yes. People will find something else to do. The main concern is that we're already flooded with content, and now there'll be even more content, and prob shit.
