This has been public information since like 1999. Nintendo’s publicly said many times that Luigi was intended for M64 and was going to be used in a sequel that they did not make.

really wish Nintendo would acknowledge the existence of Super Mario 64 DS and port it to another system. 3DS would have been perfect but come on.
