Bill Gates has been saying this for a long time; no country has ever properly prepared for a pandemic cause we assume we can't get one.

Yeah. More and more to me. Before I was concerned.. still am for people to get sick. But the longer this goes on, it's seemingly opening my eyes to it all more now. "Whatever it takes" like Reeee says. Seems to be kill off people and make people poor and miserable. Pretty wild. I don't know. Seeing that picture of Gates Dad with the Rockerfellers. Just adds to it. And then little dude and the lady with Trump at the briefings... somethings up with them it seems. I don't know. Just.. it just seems weird.
that never ceased to be a political power play to a lot of politicians and opposing parties even if people with covid-19 may/did die because of the said virus even with people who will die because of the economic collapse after this pandemic. that's the perfect moment to try to remove any political leader you don't like not matter what are the consequences because there is chaos and there is mass hysteria. no matter if one wants to break a entire country's economy by locking down everything and everyone just to make a president look bad. these are the type of people i despise the most.

Clearly I get the intent but whats racist about it? Winnie the Poo has nothing to do with Asians or mocking Asians, only 1 specific person. The chopsticks are surely associated with Chinese culture but its a giant stretch to call chopsticks racist or that would make most of the world racist since everyone uses chopsticks at least once or twice in their life.

Its like calling saying if you call Trump Orange you are racist against all white people.

I know the account is a joke, but is the video real? As a Swede it's seems a bit insane

It's real in a sense that a few people broke into a construction site, triggered the motion detectors, and the police moved in due to trespassing and potential of getting hurt.

The point is, NYC was open and functioning while we were being heavily impacted by COVID-19. We were fine. I honestly suspected this, you can find me saying as much several times, and I remain really puzzled and confused by this hysterical response.

I guess it depends on what you mean by fine. Currently you have 1800 deaths a day nationwide, which doesn’t seem like the preferred outcome.

Essential read of the day:

Now that the US is king of ventilators and Trump has more vents than his ass can handle they come out with this story, how convinent.

Ok jokes aside, just shows that we don't know much about this virus and probably all the things we have done up to this point have been wrong.

I think its more how it wasn't bat soup that started it. It was that lab it came from.

I call major BS on that smoking weakens the immune system. Don't pay attention to studies flaunted by the media, they are either quack studies or are taken way out of context

Quiting smoking lowers the immune system for a few weeks before it bounces back to normality, I know that much.

Quit a few years back, and straight afterwards I got Tuberculosis. Which was fun, literally vomiting a toilet bowl full of blood. Fully recovered now though, but was on antibiotics for 7 months and started smoking again. X-ray shows my lungs are fine, though there's a tiny bit of scaring on the top of my left lung.

Just happy I got it last year instead of this one. Could've been tragic.

Smoking dose compromise your immune system. Smoking just slowly kills you without you knowing it.

So does getting old. I never said that smoking is healthful. What I said is that quiting smoking lowers your immune system for a time until the body gets used to things again and returns back to normal. As it stands in most smokers, the body is normal, hence why it craves nicotine when smokers aren't smoking. It needs time to adapt again. When the body feels like it is lacking something people's immunity from infections especially grows weaker.

This will just drive the mortality rate even lower.

so basically what I was contemplating here couple of days ago, this disease is not massively deadlier than a flu, but insanely infectious.

The virus did a speed run of three years worth of influenza victims in a couple of months.

we saw the body piles and hospitalisations and applied influenza infection rates to them, and came to the conclusion that a much worse apocalypse is coming. Because if it’s this bad early on, it will get insanely bad once everyone gets it.

Now it seems to be turning out that everybody had it.

Unknown infection rate was our fog of war.

Saw that New York study article earlier today on Twitter...

Seems like a lot of these antibody tests are starting to show some interesting results.

3,000 random customers at supermarkets seems like a pretty sound sample... if anything, it would probably be biased toward people who don't think they have COVID-19 since they're out and about at the supermarket.

We still need a peer review on it. The standford study had some serious issues to it and these antibody tests have a high false positive/negative rate.

But as more info comes out we are starting to see that the virus is much more wide spread than many thought.
Its going to be interesting if these studies to come back and prove these results. How will the narrative change and switch.

Agreed that it needs to be peer reviewed. A lot of these anitbody studies seem to be coming up with similar results though.

Yup. Even if they aren't all accurate and peer reviewed we are seeing a pattern with the early data. And we also can look at the Diamond Princess and the Rosevelt and they had about 15-20% infection rate as well.

It will come down to density and population size etc, but I think we can look at anywhere from 5% and up.

I really think that the smarter plan would of been to lock up the old people and then go into masks and social distancing. Instead of spending trillons on loans and stimulus they could of invested in getting more work online, delivery and other tools to help with social distancing for business/retail. Still close theaters and stadiums and large gatherings. But fog of war and fear lead down this path.

I will give an exta shout out to CCP since they were the first to get it and did the lock down so everyone thought China was right and followed them, with the WHO cheerleading on the draconian solution CCP came up with.

The narrative change will be that we need to lock everyone up since everyone has it.

DHS gonna confirm sunlight kills the virus. Or severly decreases it.

Gonna mean going outside in the warm sunny weather is safer then staying inside.

It depends what band of light kills it. We know that Flu viruses are killed by far-UVC band of light; but flu still spreads pretty easily. Peer reviewed studies will show us what works.

crazy theory with this DHS news pulled from my butt

What if sunlight could have an effect on how bad the virus gets? If you look at some of the warmer states they are doing better. Old people trapped in homes all day with no sunlight are dying like flies. Younger people would ten to be outside more in the sunlight. Kids are the most likely to be out side playing in the sun, and kids are the least effected by the virus.

There has been lots of noise around Vitamin D, I know Dr. Campbell has been on it. Vitamin D as we know has to do with the sunlight.

Im not saying go in the sun and you won't get Corona. But with the DHS talking about how direct sunlight kills the virus much faster, vitamin D, people away from the sun being the most effected there is a lot to tie it all together.

Lets see where this goes, I guess its always being politicized.

Exposure to sunlight on your skin for 20 minutes a day, especially the glands under your upper cheeks, does increase the Vitamin D in your body.

I feel like if sunlight/vitamin D alone was the answer, then we wouldn't have seen the numbers we've seen in Iran.

When you lock people alive in hospitals and burn them to the ground of course you'll have high death numbers.

Its not the death rate I'm looking at; its the infections. They've had 87,026 infected...if Sunlight/Vitamin D is the virus-killer then we shouldn't logically see numbers that high. Is it a specific band of light? far-UVC worked really good at killing flu viruses but its very short wave of light so would require lamps spread around the city.

You're demanding a cure for a coronavirus, which is similar to the common cold. Which we've NEVER cured before. You're demanding the impossible, because you know it's impossible, and instead demanding a dystopian socialist "utopia" in substitution for something that's impossible to achieve. It's the same argument the Democrats in the US are making with TEST ALL 320 MILLION PEOPLE OR ELSE!

why do you post so much garbage in a thread? the fuck is your goal? Quit posting stupid shit dumbass

No. Smoking weakens your immune system period. What you described was withdrawal symptoms. Next time you get seriously ill you may not be so lucky and you will most likely die because of your smoking. So think about that next time you want to pull the ol "so dose getting old" argument out the hat. If I was you I would be worried buddy especially since you got some scar tissue now.

My theory is if you stay inside it gets worse. Also Iran is not hot and humid during Jan and Feb.

The virus still lives on surfaces and in the air. But sunlight and himidty kills it way faster. So if you sneeze on a bench out in the sun it will die and no one will get infected from touching it.

Do the same on your keyboard in your office and it lives for hours you will infected tons of people. Notice how outbreaks happen at call centers or church in SK. Or workers dorm in singapore. Or meat facotry. Or of course old age homes.

Also at night there is no sun so the virus lives longer. So even in a warm place at night that virus will live on that bench until the morning. Same for something in the shade.
Look at whose dying. Old sick people who dont go outside. I think all 3 factors play a role. Age health and then access to sunlight.

Age seems to be the primary factor; then any sort of health disability ranging from large to small. But there is a dangerous randomness to it in that we've lost folks who are fit and healthy with no conditions that aren't in the dangerous age group.

We need to put more funds into research.
