Go Go English Training.
Surely even the non-game haters can't complain about this seeing as it's getting more Japanese people to learn our language :)

Do you think Chinese or Korean Training will be popular? :)

They're a different series, meant as travel aids.
The Eigozuke title is based on a popular PC program and has more functionality.

I took into investigating the last week that the DS didn't have a game in the top 10, and I definitely got results. The DS hasn't had a week that a game wasn't in the Top 10 from the system since before it was released. The week above specifically...

Learning English in Japan is a big commodity because of business and the amount of students who want to study in English speaking countries.

When I was in L.A. there were so many schools/classes that taught Japanese students living in California on student visa english.

So it looks like English Training will be yet another million seller. Wowza. The sales estimates underestimated English Training big time ... didn't they predict like 100k first week for English Training?

This is well over double that.

I've figured out Nintendo's plan. First they get non-gamers hooked on these brain training games, then they release a game training game (teaching you how to game for real) and whoila, a whole pile of new gamers (customers).

I don't think DS could handle a Wind Waker port.

But is it really a good way to learn English, through "English Training"? How advanced does it actually get? I mean, if it's just basic English you learn I get this image in my head of numerous people in Japan suddenly talking "English Training" Engrish, only using phrases they specifically learned from the game. :p

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Poor Lost Magic and Bleach :(

Poor third party NWFC games. And I do mean "games."

Easter is over, only 6 DS games in the top 10.
Nintendo DOOMED.
Hahahaha, seriously though, Animal crossing aproching 1.8 million units on an installed base of just 6 million units.
Has something like that ever happened before?

Phrases in the game include: "Can you point me to the nearest Nintendo store?", "Can I please purchase DS games?" and "I love the Revolution!".

Combined with the Game Training Game, Nintendo takes over the world!

All I know is Sony is probably wondering what in the world they have to with the PSP in Japan.

Stupid stupid Sega.

Here is hoping that Bleach at least has a few more weeks to get the numbers up. It is a really great game.

I just saw the nintendo online magazine and it says that English Training is finished (ported) in 6 months
(the project is started at the end of July 2005)
this is just another "$$ printing machine" for Nintendo

Sega has absolutely underestimated the demand of Bleach DS
hope they can ship the next stocks ASAP

That's when I went to Japan.

Nintendo really knows how to tickle their fancies. Hope they get started on proper Korean, Chinese and German Training games, too. Those would probably sell well, too.

Name one 3rd party "non-game" on the DS

Bandai's Tamagochi - sold over 1 million.

English brain training : it's an english learning tool, for people who want to learn English. The Japanese like that sort of thing.

Didn't Brain Training 2 just come out a couple weeks ago?

Nintendo should spread out the releases of these training games a little more.

3 out of the top 10 games are training games....wow.

Well that was more of a "game" than the Brain Training games. It actually had a goal to build up your shop.

Why? Brain Training 2 actually caused the original Brain Training games to spike in sales and it hasn't deterred English Training at all.

Sales figures disagree.
Of course franchise burnout could set in but for now, doesnt look like that is happening either.

They are spread out.

The original Brain Training was released in May of last year.

You don't notice it because they sell so much every week.

Well, Yawaraka Atamajuku came out a little after Otona no DS Training, but they clearly haven't destroyed each other at all. In fact, they probably help each other's sales out.

That's still, what, 4 entries in a series in less than a year?

Holy shit ... even I forgot that. Brain Training came out the week Star Wars Episode III came out I think.

I tend to count Brain Training and Gentle Brain Training as one game though.

Yeah then Yawarka Atumajuka was released in June. Then Brain Training 2 in December and English Training in January. With more on the way in March.
