Just so people can put MPH's figure into perspective.

GCN Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes - 16,105 (MC May 23 - 29 2005)

E&N says Metroid Prime sold 43K the first week back in 2003 but Game-Science doesn't go that far back.

See? I was half-right :)

If the hardware numbers are right, the drop for NSMB is to be expected. Limited hardware supplies would lead to lower software sales.

That still leaves 7 million DS owners who didn't give a shit. :p

But seriously, wasn't the shipment figure for NSMB 1.3 million so far?

jj984jj

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Nintendo said at their meeting that NSMB sold 1.2 million so far in Japan so this number was given to us before the charts anyway.

Are there still shortages?
Good thing they upped thier output capacity.

Even though Point Blank DS is pretty low in the top 30, it does mean it's selling a couple thousand a week, right? For such a cheaply made game, it's certainly doing better than Pac 'N Roll or Dig Dug Digging Strike [hell, probably sold more than both combined now :(]

So that means that DS is tracking to sell:

35,473,291 units by the time it's been on the Japanese market as long as the PS2 has been (327 weeks). Of course, there's no way the DS could make it that far without reaching a saturation point/declining/being replaced.

Never say never. Considering you have the possibility of family members and friends getting their own DS's -- unlike PS2's, it could happen.

I honestly think that these are great numbers for NSMB.

Great debut for MPH. It is rare to see a FPS in the top ten

Honestly, the CoolTrick Is A Whiny Bitch act is getting old.

Don't you have to go jack off to fooling newbies with fake numbers?

On topic: Look at Animal Crossing go! It should definitely be able to reach 3 million.

Quick question for you chart masters out there;

1.)How many million selling games have ever appeared in the top ten at the same time.

2.)How many million sellers have appeared in the top ten for the same system?

The DS HAS 5 ****ING MILLION+SELLING GAMES IN THE TOP TEN. MARIOKART IS #11

Is that as insano as it seems, or has it been done before???

I only count 1 million-selling game in the top 10.

I'm just going to chalk that up to sarcasm that isnt funny. At all.

(If you were going for the 1million funny thing, thereare two 1 million games.)

YOU FAIL AT LIFE.

(And at sarcasm too)

That would be 6 "platinum" million+ sellers in the top 12 (half the chart) for Nintendo too.

I think the only other time this may have happened was during the Famicom/Game Boy era in Japan.

I never get to play. I wanted a go at it.

And you're just mad someone kicked your love-train before it gained any steam anyway.

I think Nintendo may have a shot at selling 30 million DS' in Japan.

I'm not sure about it getting higher than that though (like the 35 million estimate), but that would have to be some kind of new record.

I'm afraid to make ANY claims about what the upper limit of the DS might be in Japan.

Good Metroid sales. Not quite up to par with Metroid Fusion's 50K debut, but it's close to what Zero Mission did. Better than Prime 2 and a little less than the first GC game. I say it'll have longer legs than the other games, too.

Well, don't forget the Prime factor(aka FPS).

Yeah, I forgot to check what Zero Mission did its first week.

Metroid Zero Mission - 37,396 (MC May 24 - 30 2004)

Why is anyone surprised by Metroid? If anything, you should be surprised it sold that much. Unpopular franchise + FPS??

I don't see what's wrong with 350k sales in a week of Mario.

Wow - seems like they are way off on Brain Age as well. They've got it almost 500,000 below Part 2, which doesn't match at all with Media Create or Famitsu.

From here, third sales on DS and PSP:

Total DS = 4.165.000
Num. Titles = 40

Total PSP = 3.573.000
Num. Titles = 38

Thats really interesting thanks.

Anyways Bomberman Act Zero didnt top 1k in japan its debut week. WTF!!!??? its cheap i cant believe less than 1% of 360 owners would want that. Anyways does anyone have m-create # for it or do they not track that low down.

Also that list is missing MG Ass-id one sales.

I'm just beginning to experiment with keeping data in SQL and making graphs with PHP, so hopefully in the future I'll have some more interesting things that can be displayed on demand. I think the first thing I'd like to try to do is make a pie chart of weekly data that adjusts in size with the total, so a pixel one week has a value equivalent to a pixel in the next. For now I've just "pre-baked" a few pies to familiarize myself with JpGraph, which I've only been using a couple hours.

Here's a graph using the unconfirmed hardware numbers that popped up with the software numbers in the last thread. I tossed small GBA and Xbox numbers in there for now.

pie3.php

And here are links to the smallest and biggest weeks of the past year.

I thought there are more 3rd party games on PSP than DS, are you sure those charts include all titles?

LOcKY

also another thing to add is, regardless how games the 3rd party sold on each system the most important line is how much money did they make back after putting money into developement?

im sure making games on the DS is far cheaper than making games on the psp... am i rite?
