So, in the end, who is to blame?
Iwata is a smart businessman, but he seems clueless when it comes to 3rd parties.

He's referring to the part where Nintendo assumed that third parties would change their output two years in. They were wrong. Sounds like Iwata and the gang won't make that mistake again.

You forgot
Final fantasy Chocobo's Dungeon(wii): 100,423
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers 56.579

I didn't even realize this at the time, but how the bloody does a spin-off over-done port of a ds game manage to do twice the sales of a ff game with a full development cycle.

Edit:

Might as well add this in for no real reason:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time 44,188

Simple. One of them actually looks fun. The other does not.

Ducky got this one already, but it's pretty simple: One of them is really fun and the other one is dogshit.

I think the DS game was the port of the Wii version and not vice versa.

Does anybody here know the difference between Operating profit and Net profit? That has always buffled me..

Operating profit is the direct result from the respective companys core activitys (or operations). For a video game company the operating profit is obviously a measurement for how profitable their videogame business is working -- which may also include stuff like merchandising, licensing etc.
Net profit includes every other profit a company may get from other activities that do not belong to their core business, like speculation in stock.

Also, of note, with the whole DQM:BR did horribly: I think it's worthwhile to note these past sales of what could be considered a highly similar genre.

You can blame that on the PSP rather than the series itself, is the PSP version also a port of the PS2 aswell? That could be another reason.

Azalyn comments:

Users that own both Wii and PS3 are probably buing the PS3 version of Sengoku Basara 3

Most Miku buyers were women, most Basara buyers were men.

Sinobi comments

Pokemon Black / White has high preorders exceeding previous entries so far.
Release week will almost certainly be supply constrained.
It will ship 5 million at a very short period.

Battle Road and Itadaki Street aren't really similar in genre at all.

Sounds like Nintendo isn't learning from its mistakes.

What was the last main Pokemon game not to be supply constrained ?

In that case, what would be a reasonable first shipment for Pokemon Black and White?

If shipped right, I can see it surpassing Dragon Quest IX's first week.

Marvelous Entertainment’s Video Game Division Makes Money

Marvelous Entertainment’s strategy of slowing down paid off. This quarter (April 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010) their video game division booked a profit.

Marvelous made 71 million yen ($830,000) during this segment, a huge change from last year where Marvelous lost 131 million yen ($1.5 million). Sales were down sharply, though, 55% compared to the same period. Marvelous only released a Hitman Reborn game, No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, and Ikki Tousen: Xross Impact in Japan this quarter. Rising Star Games, which contributed to earnings in past quarters, now work with Marvelous under a licensing agreement.

Reduced overhead and advertising spending were attributed to this quarter’s positive results. While the profit was mainly from expense cuts, Marvelous is at least back in the black.

Ace Combat X2 Demo Downloaded 300,000 Times
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/08/10/ace_combat_x2_dnld/
Some initial indications of success for upcoming portable flight sequel Ace Combat X2 Joint Assault. Namco Bandai announced today that the PSP title's demo, released via its official site on 7/15 and PlayStation Store on 7/29, has, as of the 6th, topped the 300,000 mark. The demo's total download figure through the 8th is 324,136.

Ace Combat X2 is due for retail release on August 26. The currently available demo includes a sampling of four player multiplayer play as well as the ability to transfer data to the final retail version.
God Eater had over a million demo downloads and its at 600k copies sold so...I wouldn't count on Ace Combat X2 doing more than 150k, although that would be more than the first PSP Ace Combat that did 116k (budget re-release added another 100k so maybe that will make the new one grow a little from the first one original release total).

They have some small budget TBA titles (if they are not already cancelled) and Harvest Moon 3DS.

Harvest Moon and Fate/Extra have been their biggest successes in recent memory, and they both just came out. This is probably their ideal amount of output anyways, I think they were being a bit too ambitious in the last few years and they stepped out of their niche, which gave them some financial troubles. They basically are now scaled back to where they were before hand.

Well, more or less as predicted. Wii Party higher then expected, or, similarly, SB3 lower then expected.

Cool! First DS game is at #7, but then there are 11 DS games from 7-20. :lol

Edit:
Inazuma 11 3 is #13 in MC and #4 in Famitsu. :lol

Inazuma 11 3 is #13 and #19

Famitsu combines both versions.

An early leak? That's interesting.

This is actually the first time 4gamer is putting up sales, so they may have a special deal with Media Create to put it up at midnight Wednesday night.
