Its actually quite impressive how consistently they've gotten it wrong this year
First was the third party game show in May. Something MS hyped up - the first ever games running on next gen consoles. This was to be a huge moment. It ended up being such a disappointment MS had to apologise for mismanaging expectations
Then they had another chance in July. This game showcase was infamously mocked due to Halo and Craig but the overall event felt poorly executed and highlighted how far MSs first party was
The next event was to be September - price, features, Series S etc. Except they lost the reveal to a 1am leak. A complete disaster - and the bad thing for them is it was one of their more positive bits of news. But they really screwed up the marketing again
Otherwise, a lot of information on the platform has been released. But its scattered across social media and blogs that the actual execution and PR generated has been minimal
I think they've done great on the hardware front, but their marketing team should be looking for new jobs
