Moon Studios' No Rest For The Wicked Doesn't Require Online Connection To Play Single-Player

Moon Studios co-founder and tech and production director Gennadiy Korol has revealed the team's upcoming action-RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, which is also the game on Game Informer's cover this month, will not require an online connection to play single-player. Although, if you've read our cover story about the game, you already know this, and you also know you can play the game with up to three friends on a shared living server.

What's more, Korol says the game will feature "a rich Offline Mode" for those not interested in the game's multiplayer elements.

Korol announced this today on X (formerly Twitter), expanding on Moon's thoughts about No Rest for the Wicked as both a single-player and multiplayer game.

"Even though Wicked was built from the ground up with multiplayer in mind, we did not want offline-play to feel like a second thought and we want people to be able to play on the go when connection quality is not always ideal," Korol writes. "Our April 18th [Early Access launch on PC] will focus on the single player experience and we will be sharing more details about the Multiplayer aspect of the game later in our Early Access campaign."

Nice...i guess??!

I'm more interested in knowing how much meat there is in the early access release...

Because more often than not, the opposite is true for games like these.
It was a rethorical question. To me this feels like a "Oh these are the good guys, they care." kind of stuff. Just like CDPR did. It should be normal and we should not make a deal out of it when someone makes their game available offline. Lots of games have an offline option.

Disagree because this has become abnormal. Folks are making a big deal about it to let the devs know it appreciated. Nothing wrong with that. But if you don't want to praise postive news then that is certainly up to you.

Really hope it turns out like Deep Rock Galactic. Which was built with multiplayer in mind but they designed it so you can play solo as well.

Hope they learn from DRG's model and they aren't just bluffing and they pull a Vermintide/Darktide.

Yep, a lot of these co-op games have always online requirements. And people always say it’s not a big deal… until you get into your handheld/laptop on a plane or a hotel and shit doesn’t work.

It’s good to highlight devs that don’t do that. Last Epoch as highlighted above is another great example.

Take a look at Diablo 3 (not even going to mention 4). The game is unplayable offline on PC yet I can play it offline on the consoles. That’s annoying AF. Game is perfect for handheld sessions.

Exactly. And it is also refreshing to see a game dev who is making a game not based on the latest monetization model or chasing the latest trends in gaming. They just stripped away all that bullshit and focused on making a damn good game?

And that's really what people want. Just make good games. All we ask. Don't even listen to all the gamers out there with their demands of this and that. Just make good games that will make people smile because you know the game is fun and you don't want to put it down.

Games where you play for 30 minutes and you are hooked.
