Official September 2007 NPD Prediction Thread

I wonder what kind of barometer people will use with the 360+Halo vs Wii+Wii Sports angle when the latest NPD numbers get posted.

If the 360 failed to outsell the Wii but came very close, will that be considered a failure? What if it only outsold the Wii by the same razor thin margin? Does it need to do a home run? What's the GAf consensus on this thing?

Anything over 400k would be great for the 360.

Why dosn't everyone just copy VG Chartz or The simExchange's data? The simExchange actually has their predictions up, months in advance.
I am going to play it save and stick around their numbers. They seem to be more accurate then most other places.

P.S. No way the 360 outsells the Wii. That thing cannot be stopped!

I think Wii got more units into the channel than in recent months. 360 I think will get a bigger bump from Halo and the new SKU than conventional wisdom dictates. My guess may be high but I honestly think it will be closer than Odysseus.

Edit: some slight modifications (having second thoughts). Slight increase for NDS, and a slight decrease for PS3. Also decreased PSP numbers by 50k (don't think there was any game to push PSPs this month, unlike Japan).

Everyones sub 300k PSP makes me weep, I think I'm far offbase with 390k. :lol

The simExchange's numbers are comparable to the aggregate that Cheesemeister posts of our predictions, since they are both community derived. The other place's numbers are a bannable offense to knowingly post here.

Gotcha.. Sorry about that. But I think you are crazy to think that people don't check them before making their own predictions here. After all, there estimates are out months in advance.

I never did get this Reggie-halo3-fool thing. It was obvious that it was hyporbole. Halo 3 will move consoles, of course. Almost every game does. Somewhere, someone will buy a console for one game, no matter how shitty.

It was obvious that Reggie meant that Halo 3 won't matter (that much) in the overall and long term console war, especially the Wii VS. 360 battle in NA.
