The big question now:

Did it take the top spot based on lower sales of other titles and no real movement of its own weekly sales - good enough in its own regard, as holding steady week-on-week is positive - or did it actually increase in sales? The latter would obviously be a huge positive and very surprising given the sales pattern of other Wii U titles.

Is this the week the Splatoon bundle launched in Europe? Could that be having an effect?

Edit: I forgot this was weekly and not monthly when looking at the OP, whoops. Not as bad for it to be missing then.

But really, Nintendo seems to do so poorly here, I don't even know anyone else with a Wii U.

Warner’s ‘Batman Arkham’ series is back with a bang as the fourth instalment ‘Batman Arkham Knight’ transitions to PS4/Xbox One and becomes the new No1 (knocking Warner’s No1 from last week ‘Lego Jurassic World’ down to No2).

‘Batman Arkham Knight’ is also the week 1 best-seller for the franchise (previously held by 2011’s 2nd instalment Batman Arkham City) and also becomes the week 1 best-seller this year so far, comfortably beating previous week 1 best-seller ‘The Witcher 3’. Batman AK dev duty was handed back to Rocksteady in the UK, the lead developer for all Arkham games except the third instalment (2013’s Batman Arkham Origins) and this is also the first Arkham game to get a Tuesday ‘event’ day launch in the UK.
This is Warner’s 4th No1 this year (Dying Light, MK X, Lego Jurassic World, Batman AK) - the last time a publisher had at least 4 No1 hits in the first half of the year was back in 2012 (EA with FIFA12, Kingdoms of Amalur, SSX, Mass Effect 3 and Fifa Street). The first half of 2015 closes with a few other new releases: Nintendo’s Wii U ‘Yoshi’s Woolly World’ gets off to a great start at No4, Square Enix debut at No10 with ‘Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward’ for PS4 & PC, PQube and Milestone debut at No13 with multi-format ‘MotoGP 15’ and Bandai Namco complete the Top 40 new entries at No18 with ‘J-Stars Victory VS+’ for Sony formats.

Great debut for Batman, if it's higher than City!
Good debut for Yoshi too, and Splatoon still hangs somehow.
I wonder why, with previous decent sales of Wii U version of Lego games, they postponed the Jurassic episode, clearly hurting its sale potential.

Batman predictably off to a great start! Very glad to see Yoshi at a good position, it's a fantastic game (though I suspect it'll fall off quickly).

The real "real" question is more: how many units did Splatoon sell knowing this is a value chart and Splatoon is 40% cheaper than the competition of this chart?

I'm betting it went up units based. Lascar please?

Just out of interest what was the percentage breakdown for Elder Scrolls online on its first week?

It's a bit odd for it to be the only title in the top 10 outselling the PS4 version.

Isn't the split quite "normal" nowdays? wasn't it about the same for Witcher 3?

What I'm more curious about is how, why, and by how much ESO is selling better on the XBO.

X1 owners are too busy playing rise sony 1st parties are slacking this generation so ps4 owners are starved for games. Fire Shu!

But seriously I am beginning to think alot of the x1s sold have to be secondary consoles for these splits to be so large unless the ps4 lead is bigger than we estimate. Jim Ryan did say the lead in the UK gets bigger every month at E3.

MS marketing deals do not seem to make much difference, Witcher 3 sold better on PS4 but had a deal with MS. It also seems that when Sony do a marketing deal, they make sure they get extra content like Batman and Destiny, which must help sales.

TESO is the only exception I can think of, that has sold better on Xbox One in the UK.
