PS5/XSX/Switch COMBINED for the price of ONE RTX 4080 / RTX 4090

If you are not a complete retard like me and insist on gaming at 4K with 60+ fps all the time, you can actually get pretty decent performance / money on PC. i5 12400 and RX 6600 are really nice for 1080p gaming.

Consoles presents weep at the very presence of a a 4080/90 equipped PC. Your pathetic little boxs can barely do raytracing, 4k? Pfftttt there weak power forces them to do fauxK 😆
Mean while we can game at 4k 120fps with ease, where your feeble little boxes after to go down to a pathetic 1080p

LOL

really enjoyed reading the OP with all those gifs.

BTW, own consoles and am mainly PC gamer and there's some truth in it, at least for me.

Not gonna pay these prices and keep rocking my 2070 Super that hopefully won't fail the next two years.

You can buy a vespa, Honda civic and a kia soul for less than a Hell cat challenger too...

Whats next? Comparing a Ferrari to a Honda?

The guy’s probably rolling in a Pinto with no back seat and no window.

Oh, you car guys. You're actually providing some really good evidence to support one of OP's main points. I think the most depressing car experience of whole life has been being in a friend's brand new sports car while driving around San Francisco. I could feel that poor car. In pain. Demanding to go faster. Yearning for an open road to let it spread it's wings. And yet, nope. Stop and go. Welcome to city traffic. A great car is only as great as its circumstances. If your daily commute is dominated by driving in a populated city with lots of stop and go traffic, you might as well get the Honda. Screw the sports car. Save money on the car and the gas because your sports car will almost never get to be a sports car. It'll, effectively be relegated to being a Honda in most circumstances whether you like it or not.

Same deal with the graphics card. Check out some of OP's choice comments.

All this power and yet, consoles dictate graphical progress.

Plz come give us $1200/$1600 to come play consoles ports!

Nvidia is making hardware for games that don't exist.
PC
hasn't had a big budget AAA game that pushed graphics, in over a decade.

It's not that the card is bad. It's that it doesn't matter how good it is because the popularity of consoles will always hold it back. The best you will get is console ports with bells and whistles but not experiences tailor-made to take advantage of its strengths.

I’m a shameless scummy graphics whore who willingly sacrifices performance and framerate in favor of fidelity and prefers 30fps over 60 because it looks better and i don’t game on PC because there’s no studios pushing graphical limits on the platform.

This is sad. I should be a PC Stan.

Industry, do better.

Theyre just jealous PC has already surpassed the power of a PS6.

Kinda reminds me of when playstation gamers laugh at God of War being ported to PC. "Im not gonna wait 4 years to play this game".
While PC gamers are like. "Im not gonna wait 6 years to get the power of a PS6. I want ray tracing/dlss now"

All facts. Truth of the matter is if you want cutting edge graphics you’re better off with a PS5 and an OLED. Consoles are where BIG BUDGET AAA games that push graphics are made. Sony consoles specifically.
Have to ask have you actually seen a cutting edge PC pushing high end graphics because it doesn't sound like it

My main gaming platform is the PC. But I have to agree we are getting to stupid levels of cost on the PC side.
The PC has become a terrible place to game, unless you have large amounts of money to spend.

Assuming you NEED a RTX 4090 to play games???

What a masterpiece of a thread dude.

I would still get 4080 for that full RT + 4k + 120 fps. (With whatever needs to be dialed down).

On consoles they scale back RT and other settings quiet a bit to hit 4k 60fps.

My post was in satire, but I don't get for one option to be good the other option has to be bad.
If someone has the money and is interesting in gaming, why not get a rocket ship PC.

Horizon Forbidden West is not on PC.
Yet..

Truth is if you can afford it, you're still going to prefer pushing settings on "console games", especially now that they're all coming there. God of War is a Console game but on Ultra settings still better than what's on Console.
And there's Mods, and lots of things exclusive to the PC realm.

It would completely and undeniably worth it if more "Crysis" were coming but that ship has long sailed, even if RT settings can only really shine on PC at the moment. And you don't use your PC for games only anyway.

But sure, you can't beat value of these Consoles.

Of course I have, the games always look better on PC when it’s available on all platforms.

However my point is that there’s no games being made specifically for PC that push where graphics can go ala Crysis 2007.

It’s just really good looking console games.

We need AAA big budget PC exclusives. We aren’t getting that.

What does the OP think about the fact that you have to pay to play consoles online? Hardware is a fixed cost but a subscription is ongoing. Theoretically eventually the console would be more expensive (though by then the generation would be over, but still).

Just saying that 4k 160 with maxed out settings looks amazing and better than anything my PS5 will do by miles and for some those prices don't scare us off

thats only true if you're one of those enthusiasts that need to have the latest everything.

If you're a reasonable person who just want a good place to play good games, its great. Many of my friend are ditching consoles and jumping on PC now that stuff like RTX 2060's and 3060's are getting back to more affordable prices.

It's a necessary compromise, that will be made on pc as well.

But PC usually get a bucket load of RT settings that you can turn on that will make good use of 4080. Consoles usually get one of those settings, reflections usually which is kinda pointless.

Full RT for great accuracy or nothing, is what I prefer.

High end GPU's are about performance. It doesn't matter how many consoles you can buy for the same price, unless you can somehow combine their performance it's not really a valid comparison.
If you just want access to PC gaming you don't need the newest and most powerful GPU, you can make a build with one of 3000 series cards which will be cheaper while still offering better performance than consoles, acces to MS games day 1, increasingly more Sony games and Nintendo games if you are ok with emulation.

PC is all about multiplayer.

Look at the top 10 on steam etc. Its been like this for 10 plus years. How have you not figured this out yet?
Forget about ever seeing a AAA single player game exclusive for PC pushing tech.
Not gonna happen. Even Star Citizen is a online only game.

Or you can buy a 20 series card and a switch and have the best experience possible for all games worth playing.

No, we don't. We just need extreme framerates, IQs, inputs for the best gameplays, and minimum input lag, as always.

Gaming is a luxury. I have a PS5 and XSX but they collect dust vs. my weaker PC. I want a 4090. It looks juicy. For some of us, 3k for a pc isn't much. Did I NEED a Xbone One X and PS4 Pro? Nope. Did I get them? YES.

PC (for me at least) is all about the mods

THIS. I'm still messing around with Elden Ring, Diablo 2 Resurrected, etc, mods. A huge perk to PC gaming.

It is. But anyone NEED a 4080 to game?

By that logic, do we need any of the GPUs released in the last 20 years. Why not just stick to a Voodoo 2?
The reality is that we want better graphics, bigger game worlds, new features, etc.
The RTX 4080 seems pretty good, if it was priced at a reasonable price. But at 1200-1500 euros, it's a complete non-sense.

Because a Voodoo 2 doesn't run everything at acceptable performance (60fps+).

New to gaming? New to hardware? New to the world?

I'll use your logic. I use my PC way more than my PS5/XSX/Switch COMBINED, so it must be worth more. I mean, it's worth way more but that's besides the point.

But it did, 2 decades ago. The reason it doesn't is because we want games with much better graphics.
The same reason applies to the RTX 4000 series. We want better graphics, especially ray-tracing.

Not a voodoo, but a rtx 3060 does the job just fine. And where i live i can buy one for half the price of a new console.

But then what is the point of having new generations of hardware, if we are stuck in place with old tech? Be it CPUs, GPUs, consoles, SSDs, ram, etc...
The reality is that this generation of GPUs, NVidia pushed the price to unbelievable heights.

But the present are not 2 decades ago. I particularly don't want games with much better graphics if this means too much sacrifices in performance. Frame rate/input lag and IQ are kings.
