In November 2023, KRAFTON, the developer of the renowned battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), disclosed the ongoing development of their upcoming title, Black Budget, slated for release in the latter half of the current year, as affirmed in the company’s 3Q 2023 Earnings Results. Although Black Budget serves as a spin-off to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), adopting an “everchanging PvPvE open world,” indications suggest that the company is concurrently engaged in another project. Recent job postings disclose that PUBG Madison is actively developing a new AAA shooter IP akin to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), employing Unreal Engine 5.

The Senior Level Designer position's description states, “And that’s only the beginning: PUBG Madison is developing an exciting new IP that aims to push the shooter genre forward.”

The job listing requires a “strong knowledge of shooters, both PVP and PVE.”

Other details are included in the article. So, about time PUBG gets a little pushed over to the side in favor of something fresher. Thoughts?

Super interested to see what these guys have been noticing about multiplayer over the last 5+ years. I expect great things...though I hope they aren't just getting started.
