Putting the "J" in the RPG - Digital Antiquarian

Entertaining read, but no new information whatsoever. It seems to be written for someone who haven't read a gaming magazine or website for 30 years suddenly deciding to learn about Japanese video games.

It also seemed weird that someone purporting to be knowledgable of Japanese RPGs doesn’t know the purpose of dialog ellipsis in Japanese media.

Meh. The game‘s translation wasn’t “putrid”. I replayed it fairly recently and, apart from the most egregious lines we’ve all known for 25 years, it’s absolutely serviceable. But it’s pretty obvious that someone who writes like that would be unnecessarily harsh on the game’s English script.
