Then again. What he's been through. We are still people. He's trying. He's a caricature of a template.

Sad.

If he went through the interview without promoting his whisky or whatever I'd call it a win. The guy is a lethal fighter but he's embraced the lifestyle he crafted a bit too much.

Not on the level of the original. They leant too much on Conor while not enough on Jake being suave through juxtaposition akin to Patrick and the original. The fight scenes got carried away and didn't have that old school real feel like the original either. It's started hot and went cold for me by the end.

6.5/10.

This wasn't good but it also wasn't bad, it's mindless fun, an entertaining boys flick where you can have fun with your mates while having beers and pizza, I've seen much worse in my life...

Gyllenhaal continues to be one of the.most entertaining and best actors of his generation, I mean, you could put him In a porno or even worse, an Uwe Boll film and he would still be good and charismatic.
McGregor is literally comedic, whether this is due to the script or the lack of his acting skills (or both) I don't know but he's awful, it's like watching a cartoon character doing his schtick and gorilla walk.
Fighting scenes were A-OK and very "kinetic".

All in all, a solid 6/10 due to Gylenhaall, there's way worse on these streaming platforms - and that's unfortunately the biggest compliment I can give it.

I was pretty stoked to see this based on the trailer. It feels too slow, not enough action and doesn't have any swagger. Needed way more fighting. It was like some guy said "Let's remake Roadhouse, but it's Drive". Would love to see them learn from this and make a sequel but way better. Didn't even rip out some guy's throat.

I thought McGregor was actually one of the fun parts of the movie, the movie spent too much time focusing on being emo.

Man, the comments in that reddit post... /dead 🤣

" Connor Meth'Gregor"

" It's Morse code with his eyes"

" Watching it with no sound is even better"

"Fun fact: In this interview, Connor is blinking the word TORTURE in morse code."

"Conor has become the drugs now"

On a more serious note now, imagine being famous, a multimillionaire and...acting so unprofessional in front of.millions of viewers not to mention, fucking up your health so badly.
He's a known party animal but, between the booze, coke and roids, I'm afraid that he'll go down the way many people have gone down before him, I don't see a happy ending for the man, anyway...

I really liked it to be honest. But I’m not sure if I’ll ever watch it again. It was far less of a chore to get through than so many made for streaming movies

It mostly captures the pure nonsense attitude and spirit of the original and it had me chuckling a few times and the madness of it all

Not one to think too much about, but more just let happen and enjoy the ride 👍

Spot on. It was entertaining, which is more than i can say for most movies these days.

Just saw this. I’m torn because it’s such an odd movie.

The direction is unique, and at times it feels like it’s trying to put you directly into the action, and even has camera angles reminiscent of cinematic AAA video games, with the way it tracks behind a character or goes into first person.

Also, Jake G. does a good job with what he has, and I almost thought they were taking things in another direction when he snapped(while still maintaining the disturbing grin on his face) after killing the one guy purposefully.

They should have been bold, taken it there, and let him spiral, because what came after was just a traditional goofy action movie with fun camera angles.

I’ll give it a C I guess. I’m so thrown off by the camera work and shift in tones that at times I want to rate it higher and at times I want to rate it lower…I don’t know.

I enjoyed it too, got the feeling Conor was just being himself 😂. “Keep shooting, I do not think he has noticed the cameras 🎥… keep filming!”.

Totally. It’s like he was playing the Tasmanian devil in this movie 🤣.

I also forgot to mention they sure shot it in a pretty place. The deckchairs on the sand bar scene was pretty sweet to see 😎

6.5/10 Parts on it were fun but it’s ultimately a “made for streaming” movie. Gylenhall couldn’t carry the entire production alone and it pales in comparison to the original. McGregor’s overacting practically turned this into a comedy. The movie is something to have on in the background when reading Neogaf.

I gave it 2.5 out of 5.

A few parts were legitimately funny (loved the first fight scene at the Road House and then the aftermath), and some more could have been with a little more work. The rest of it is okay (the fight scenes could have been good but using CG to simulate the contact was a terrible choice, just use camera cuts) to terrible (Conor).

Connors walk in every scene is the beet comedy I've seen in years, it's amazing acting tbh, to be able to pretend his always carrying 2 Imaginary sheep under each arm, is top notch acting

The third act was a clusterfuck but the movie was kind of fun, at least it did the bare minimum to setup some basic plot, motivations and characterization unlike most movies nowadays

McGregor was the best part of the movie. He at least brought some life to the ****show, though the putrid script did him no favors.

Never had full upper lats have you? Then again he's slightly exaggerating as in flexing somewhat perhaps

I can see a good portion of Michael Douglas in McGregor :D

I watched it yesterday, it's the perfect kind of movie for streaming. 1:30h movie, "low" budget/small movie, 6,5/10, mindless fun.

I kind miss this kind of movie that were so common in the late 80's/90's

2 hours but yeah reminded me from the past growing up with Rocky and JCVD.

Aweseome. Loved Jake's demeanor and Connor was a great cast

Jake's character didn't care about any danger seeing he had a death wish so all his appearances to danger vocal/physical where very entertaining knowing that imho. And hey. It's a fucking fight movie. Who cares about the third act or whatever. This isn't a Kubrick movie lmao

Also that "GF" was hot AF

Man, from all the interviews that I've seen, McGregor comes off as creepy, not to mention, coked out of his mind, just a very not likeable individual...

Well. With all his succes money, drugs, broken bones and shit.. he comes across as very unstable and hence has to put on a persona that indeed gives him a scary yet genuine enthusiast vibe. It's quite something to witness indeed.
