Scottish Xbox Controller

as a scot, i think that is fucking disgusting. i get it's a tartan and green is the xbox colour but green is not a scottish colour. our flags are blue + white or less commonly red + yellow (or red, white, blue if on the Union Jack). the controller should be blue + white. i know that's Playstation colours but c'mon.

i'm not an expert at making tartan but this would be so much better...at least it would have our colours:

That's cool and all, but are there any Swedes here who remember the Swedish Game Boy (Pocket?)? That thing was cool. Never had one though, just a boring old one.

Lot of Rangers supporters in the comments here, I see.

As another Scot, and someone who knows that green absolutely does regularly feature in tartan (see the Black Watch, Abercrombie, Campbell and Gordon tartans for starters), I think it looks great.

The fact that someone actually tried to cite the colours of the Union Jack as evidence that a Scottish tartan shouldn't have green in it is breathtakingly ignorant.

There is no clan that has luminous green in its tartan.
New tartans can be registered, and there's nothing to stop people merely making them.

And imagine the minor* mess it would create if Xbox chose one actual Scottish clan over another.

*few actually give a shit

I agree, My comment has nothing to do with football though. Id prefer the saltire design personally. Union Jack aint my flag.

I liked the video of the traditional tartan specialists making it, and being a camouflage green colour of Irish Gaels I suspect the tartan choice is probably historically more common and just good fortune it aligns to Xbox. I like the idea...shame it looks like an Xbox exclusive as this would help give some strength and grip to all those tiny Nintendo pads (joycons) and give some comfort to a Pro controller.

I love the idea of adding tactility to the pad and even if not tartan green I happily take a Dualsense in tactile MGS3 tiger stripe to go beyond the tactile facebutton-micro-pattern already on the Dualsense..

Yup, I sincerely admire the guys behind Xbox controller customization. Many collectors love these things and Sony have become pretty lazy in that regard despite the new design invites selling millions of these without the need of replacing your controller/console.

The thing that probably doesn't come across well in the video because it is in Scotland - and most will know already - is the difference in feel of tartan to most other fabrics. Without holding one most gamers unfamiliar with tartan won't be able to anticipate the sensation that tartan is going to have compared to just some regular material. I'm now thinking Xbox will visit someone like John Partridge for doing an Egyptian cotton (beeswaxed water-proofed) tweed covered one for the English aficionado - beer-proofing as it would probably be described in gaming circles.

I suspect - until recently - this being the last time a great selection of household name top flight teams' players from Scotland featured in a major competition - so we've seen replays of this team for decades on BBC - I think a lot of people associate this strip as the eternal Scotland strip colours. I know I do, it is the strip in ISS Pro Evolution on PS1 and it looked amazing against the the Brazil colours, like it does here.

Isn’t that a dog?
Newfoundland and Labrador is a Canadian province. There are dog breeds with these place names. A Newfie, to me, refers to someone born in Newfoundland (slang)...though I guess dog people might refer to the dogs that way.

Though many Canadian use the term as endearment, it is becoming passe do to it's association with being used in a derogatory manner. Maybe like Mick for the Irish?
