So why is the Xbox Store such dog s***?!

I just don't understand why it's so bad, or am I missing something.

All I want to do is sort from A-Z and look at all the RPGs on offer. Or sort by Xbox OG or Xbox 360 only but there is no option for it(that I can see) I'm on my series X. Who designed this shit? I'm looking for a specific JRPG that I can't remember the name of but I can't go from A-Z so now I guess fuck me, then. I know I can sort this way on PS5. Microsoft really needs to make this more user friendly.

Doesn't solve the issue but the Web store might be able to help but they only got a rpg category and not jrpg.

Still pretty bad ux for console users.

Go to the Store and go to Top New Games box to see all the games. The default view is newest games are shown first.

Press X to Filter.

You'll see all kinds of criteria to search, including A-Z and genre etc...

I think what you're doing is choosing the manual search icon (magnifying glass icon) which is purely a hunt and peck kind of search tool.

Xbox store: crap
Playstation store: crap
Nintendo store: super crap
Steam deck store: crap

Hard to believe but you still have to visit unofficial deal sites to try to browse these databases properly.

Why is this such a problem? Why don't they hire some deal website designers? Look at https://xbdeals.net or psprices.com

They love plopping ads for these stores all over the UI (xbox in particular) but if they want people to actually shop in the store, maybe they should reconsider an experience that feels like using an ATM.

The Xbox store on console and browser are both trash. The Xbox mobile app is also trash.

Wishlist ALWAYS says I have several items on sale, yet nothing. Prices being hidden by the Game Pass label is super annoying.

Never had an issue myself, but I tend to put stuff I am curious about/interested in on the wishlist.

Also B Blade2.0 any hints or info about the jrpg you're looking for? Users here could probably help you find it :)

IMO they are all crap. I still can't figure out why every time I open the Xbox store, I have to update it. The only saving grace for me when it comes to the Xbox store is the XBSX is pretty much my Game Pass machine now so I do not have to open the store very often.

That is not what comes up on mine at all. When I go to filter it only gives me capabilities, genre, age rating, and number of players.

I love when people blame their inability to even try some filters as "the store is crap". Or you could take 2 seconds and google the game your after, "Xbox Jrpg" and you would probably find it in 10 seconds.

Yeah I find it baffling. I hadn’t had an xbox since the 360 era, which had a great ui from what I recall. Then got a seriesX about a year ago, the store is a shit show, its completely tailored towards gamespass and even that it doesn’t do a great job of.

Definitely one reason why I’ve spent over a grand on PlayStation games this year and not a penny on xbox (excluding subscriptions on both)

What really bugs me is when the stores are super slow. I think, the Xbox One had a slow store. But on Series X it is pretty fast.
The store on my PS4 Pro is frustratingly slow, but this wasn’t always like that.

I rarely have a problem with it. I can find most games I want. Navigating the bundle carp is a little annoying but not much else.

Their whole UI experience is awful. Wanna try that new Gamepass game? We may or may not have the Recently Added section inside the app, you’ll have to look at Gamepass from the dashboard for that.

Want more info like if this game has local multiplayer? We don’t do that in our description here, you have to have to go to the game on the store page for that kind of info.

Wanna see preview videos in the thumbnail? First, watch this Xbox logo on every video along with possibly other company and engine logos then we show you the game. Sike! They uploaded their reveal trailer with no gameplay.

Both Sony and MS use to have decent stores now they both are horrible.

The xbox store got really bad recently. Idk if it’s a bug or a dumb update but you use to could select games then get a submenu to the left for new games and upcoming .. ect. That seems to be gone now.

I was wondering about that too. I found the filters pressing X, but ya at some point they changed it. There were submenus on the left you could do filtering there. I was wondering where they were.

The Xbox ui and store is a clusterfuck of epic proportions it’s a horrible disconnected tangled mess of pages web portals and clunky link throughs it’s honestly shocking for a software based company.

The PS5 interface is fine and nice for me but I have to agree the store and the Ps plus extra and premier tier tabs are beyond convoluted at least it’s baked into the UI.

Steam is abhorrent disgusting store front full of useless crap and looks like it belongs in the early 2000s, in steam OS or standard mode.

The best UI I’ve experienced in modern times is the backbone ui/overlay and Apple TV (integrated with the Apple TV app - home functionality)

Don't know about their console store, but the PC store is crap.
Microsoft really need to rethink and redo their PC store. If they are incapable of doing it, then hire someone else to do it.
It's easy to feel that the pc store was an afterthought.

It's funny though that the pc store has that the Xbox dont.

Or, the game pass app. On pc you can press "what to play next" to get a game suggestion.

AFAIK you can't that on xbox.

I like it. It actually has score ratings and user reviews. Most of the time they're accurate too.

If I had to pick its probably my favorite of the 3 consoles.
Not going to lie, I hate the store reviews on Xbox, especially on game pass indie titles, as it's usually just trolls complaining about megadrive looking games.

I find it super strange that so many users go out their way to review bomb games.

I think they shouldn't allow reviews till x amount of playtime.

I did join that beta program way back to try out Discord before it released publicly. Could that have done it?
I dont know what settings I'm on, but when it comes to OS updates they happen automatically. I dont even know if you can avoid/prevent OS updates if you are hooked up online. Look into your settings and see if there is a manual option to do a system update.

The 1-5 Star feedback reviews in the Xbox store are trash. Most games have hardly any, so even for popular games it shows most gamers dont bother (I never have myself). A lot of the negative comments I see have to do with people saying the game crashes or have tons of bugs.

I find almost all games I check have no more than 3 stars too. I look at them hoping the indie game has some useful feedback. But it looks like most gamers doing them are pissed off gamers venting, while gamers who enjoy the game dont bother scoring it a 4 or 5.

Wouldn't that second part prove their point? :pie_thinking:

Not really as a Google search is definately not the same as a store search engine, nor should it be. Just saying, people like to complain for no reason.......especially in this case where the filters are there and other easier options are available. Far less time than posting here to complain.

Another Xbox ui hate thread….

Never had a problem with any recent console interface/store.

Outside of ad space on Xbox and ps, Steam is the only one that is kinda weird, because I occasionally see furry, hentai, and porn games right on the front page.

Have you ever looked at some of the weird steam games, because of threads on gaf?

Because that will skew your recommendations.

It's average I'd say, Playstation and Nintendo store aren't very good either.

Windows store is much worse.
