Source is supposed to be a recently laid off dev who has been working on the game

Despite all it's faults Ubisoft does Division well. 1/2 were bangers for me anyway.
But isn't their mobile division called Division Heartland? Couldn't this be one of the locations in it?

Did any sequel ever drop off a cliff as much as The Division 2?

I loved the first one, but despite trying several times, I just couldn’t get past a few hours of play in the second.

I think Ubi made an incredible error in judgement about why people liked the first one.

It was all about setting. Atmosphere, vibes. New York, Snow, Christmas decorations everywhere. It was aces just to walk around. D2 is terrible in that regard. It's bland, lifeless, boring.

It better be during snowy winter like Division 1.
:pie_thinking: What about constant rain instead?

You get the benefit of nice reflections and the added feeling of moody noir.

Shows stunning graphics in a "gameplay" trailer
Game comes out looking nothing like the trailer
Causes a division within the gaming community
Ubisoft profits
We will eventually reach a level of graphical fidelity where this stops being a reality, if it hasn't already (I haven't played the Avatar game to know for sure).

A change in setting and atmosphere isnt a bad thing. In fact, let D1 stand on its own instead of milking its original success. I think about how Infamous 1 was in a new york type city and then Infamous 2 was Louisiana setting which was quite successful. And I really enjoyed D2 Washington DC environments, to see all the monuments and parks be wastelands was fascinating.

Division fan but I break from the "snow best" dogma, Snow environments, don't care for 'em. Div 2 was a lot better than the first so I expect this to be even better. Unless there's snow.

When i first saw Division 1 gameplay on E3 i thought to myself it would be so amazing to have graphics like that in game like Dayz

Exactly!

It gave the same warm feeling as watching Die Hard at Christmas.

They utterly dropped the ball with the 2nd. That was akin to watching A good day to die hard whilst having the shits.

Down for Chicago with snow.

I very much enjoyed Div 2. Yea the cityscape wasn't as good as New York but I did enjoy the missions and mechanics more. Im replaying Div 1 and man its harder then Div2. But damn the setting....quite literally, the city and atmosphere sold me when I played the demo.

I also feel the expansions were better for Div 1. Div 2 was very well support and rhe expansion was awesome.

Day 1 buy for me....less they mess this up.

I’m more interested in when the game takes place in the timeline. Hopefully it takes place during the initial outbreak, would give Massive another shot at telling a similar story, but in a new locale. It’s not just about the snow, that’s just a backdrop. The outbreak itself and seeing huge queues of people waiting in lines, folks robbing others in the streets, etc is an element missing in the sequel. It makes sense that the vibe is different since in Division 2, most of the population had perished and you’re left with the survivors trying to rebuild. But it does make things feel different.

If they plan for the long term, the game should support seasonal weather changes to allow for flexibility of visual changes to go with the storytelling. Division 2 is still getting story updates but they’re in this weird state where the environment is stuck in perpetual summer but the story is slowly approaching winter.

Division 2’s upcoming Manhattan DLC in early 2025 I suspect will be a return to winter with that map having snow-filled streets. Pure speculation on my part, but it would make sense since food and energy security are major plot points with NPCs referencing upcoming winter.

Div1 had the best location, div2 had the best gunplay and enemy ia, they just need to mix the 2 games.

Not familiar with chicago but hopefully it's not as dull as div2 location.
