Would love a dark af Burton made Batman 3 but purely set in Arkham Asylum. Give me Keaton, and that comic book looking Gotham in all its glory.

So, this?

Bale's or maybe Pattinson's version would be more suited to that story.

Keaton's is perfect for Batman Beyond.

Supergirl, Nora Allen and Iris West just had my eyes glued to the screen when something ACTION wasn't happening. So beautiful!

Saw it with my son on friday..
Ezra Miller is terrible and annoying AF
Everyone else in the movie is quite good
it's a total mess, but at the same time I had fun and didn't hate it.

With this movie bombing so hard, I wonder which will show up on streaming faster, Flash or Elemental?
It feels like Flash to me.
Then again, Haunted Mansion looks so dogshit, I can see that one streaming by the end of its own release weekend.

Wow. -72%. Morbius was -74%.

Not surprising when you consider the less than stellar audience score + a mountain of negative baggage surrounding the film. DC was in a lose-lose situation no matter what. If they had just canned the film, that's a 100% loss. Releasing the film allows them to recoup some of the losses, but in no scenario was this film ever going to be profitable given the $200m+ production budget.

Steel had a bigger drop in 1997 or whenever that was.
Flash bombing means Constantine 2 is never happening. They'll take it as proof that nostalgia is overrated.

They're rebooting the entire universe... I guess more people knew about it than I surmised. It was still a really great movie, IMO.

They're not really rebooting. Peacemaker and the Waller series are connected to the DCEU while also being in Gunn's new universe.
Superman Legacy is the first movie of the new DCU but Blue Beetle is somehow part of it too. Creature Commandos is also in the new DCU but is releasing before Superman Legacy.

What a fuckin mess. WB needs to leave the characters alone for a while, so that the general public can let the DCEU behind.
But with their habit of shitty decisions, they will just rush everything.

That's not entirely fair, TBH.

It's a soft reboot with some of the same elements (like in The Flash and the MCU... Think Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or J. Jonah Jameson in OG Spider-Man and MCU Spider-Man). Hence, Waller and Peacemaker.

Creature Commandos is an animated TV show. Blue Beetle seems to be a good enough movie to have the character (and actor) be brought in to the DCU... Even if the movie bombs.

And James Gunn/Peter Safran are the heads of DC. Not execs who never picked up a comic book. I trust them MORE than I trusted Hamada.

Yes, it’s a reboot. The Flash and supposedly Aquaman 2 are the last stories set in the DCEU. Viola Davis is still playing Waller but that doesn’t mean the continuity of her carries over necessarily, this should not be confusing as they did the same thing with Judi Dench’s M in 2006 with Casino Royale.

Even if the Peacemaker series does mostly stay in continuity, reseting most things still constitutes a reboot. The New 52 kept most of Batman and Green Lantern’s continuities, but was still mostly a universe reboot.

I mean, I quickly checked the YouTube comments section on Gunn’s video, and couldn’t find any comments about being confused by how it’s supposed to work. Considering YouTube comments are basically one of the best places to quickly locate plenty of dumbasses, if they can all follow what Gunn is telling us he’s cooking, I’m not too worried.

Hell, how many times has the Halloween series pulled shit like this and still made bank?

Halloween
Halloween 2 (direct sequel)
3 (new continuity, trying to turn series into anthology films)
4 (sequel to 1 and 2)
5 and 6 (continue from 4)
7 and 8 (sequel to 1 and 2 only)
Zombie’s Halloween 1 and 2 (new continuity)
2018 film (sequel to original film only, yet named “Halloween” only like it’s a remake or reboot)
Kills and Ends (follows 2018)

Look, even if the DCU ends up under performing, it sure as shit isn’t going to be because the audience is getting confused over minor elements like Voila Davis remaining in a role.

We'll see how it all pans out soon enough. I'm not confident at all and Blue Beetle/Aquaman 2 are gonna bomb most likely (maybe the later has a chance thx to the good box office of the first movie and the Christmas period but I'm not hopeful) and this will just damage the brand even more.
I have absolutely zero faith in WB or Gunn/Safran, but I'll be more than happy to be wrong. Just give me good DC content ffs.

DeafTourette DeafTourette I fail to see how this is a full reboot when Gunn himself said it is not.

And Doom85 Doom85 you don't think the GA will be confused, but I have to disagree here. I've seen many people asking if Clooney was the new DCU Batman and here you have another example of what's to come.

Bro... I specifically said "soft reboot" ... So yeah, some things will remain (like the examples I gave) ...

2 years is enough time for people to forget the DCEU (it was never actually officially called that by anyone at WB... That was something a reporter came up with) when Superman Legacy premieres. That's why Cavill wasn't shown in The Flash. Barry isn't in his universe anymore.

I think DC is fine with having side characters played by recurring actors even if the "leads" are changing and film to film continuity is loose. Probably easier (and cheaper) to sign some actors for multi film deals in that way than have to pony up if it's actually important that they come back.

My beef with DC is that they need to focus on STORY and honor the character rather than expensive CG spectacle. Flash had about 50 mill in elaborate CG that could have definitely been done differently. MCU has drawn their line in the sand with quippy heroes and stories of little weight post endgame that are floundering under the weight of a shared universe so DC really should take heed and not let some sort of grand continuity get in the way of actual good films. I don't need a 50 hour story broken down into 25 chunks, I'd rather have episodic stories with some shared DNA built on actors that can really deliver. MCU was the power team of Downey, Evans, and Hemsworth, without them it is very hit and miss about my give a shit of some silly comic book narrative. DC had Cavill, Affleck, Gadot, and Mamoa, a really nice line up for loosely related stores IMHO.

Gunn is a story first guy... I trust him! He's the type (as evidenced by Peacemaker, The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy) to use CGI to SUPPORT the story, not supplant it.

Zaslav chose the right person. He's been a great CEO thus far. Keilar was walking CRAP!

DC is DOA unfortunally for a number of reasons :

- DCEU killed any momentum they could have. (snyderverse, black adam , cavill out of superman, etc)
- Even Marvel after endgame lost steam and people unfortunally are turning against it
- Keep things consise and clear. 1 universe only. Of the top of my head DC has 3 universes now (joker Phillips universe with the sequel coming, Batman 2 "pattinson" universe and now the Gunn Universe. For casual fans this is just horrible, marvel has this problem also with the sony movies. I´ve lost count how many times i´ve tried to explain that not all movies with the marvel logo are part of MCU to friends

For DC to have sucess it would need something very very special that i just dont see them having, like lightning in a bottle

I'm not sure the average viewer really cares if the DC films are all part of a grand story. I think so long as the ACTOR is the same, everyone is pretty happy.

I'm cool with Cavill as superman in a Black Adam movie. But I don't need to hear about it in a Superman film. Same with Shazam, it was cool when Wonder Woman showed up but I don't need a long explanation why she doesn't call out that ENTIRE TEAM of supers to help her in her film. I though The Flash hit a good balance between his story and service to a "greater world" with the extended batman intro. That kind of thing is enough for me. A cold open fun scene, then stick to the story of THAT FILM, not some sort of metanarrative over a decade. That trick worked ONCE.

Whats up with the cinema? Flops after flops.

Not everything, and when a ton of things come out at once, some things just don’t get a big audience. Doesn’t mean they were bad necessarily, for example Star Trek Beyond is probably the most well liked of the three recent ST films yet it made the least money.

Actually took my mom to see The Flash just now (my dad doesn’t care for almost all movies save a few, and my mom hates seeing movies alone), she had only seen Man of Steel in terms of the DCEU movies (she has seen pretty much all the pre-2013 Superman and Batman films, plus Lynda Carter’s WW, so she knew who these characters were), but when she saw the trailer played before Across the Spider-verse, she just thought it looked fun, and hey, she thought it was a fun movie. So basically, she was this guy minus the reveal at the very end:

I had a good time watching. I liked all the dumb cameos but every single one looked like a rubber suit. The CG on people is rough. And there is a lot of it.

Batflek in the early part looks dumb. Sounds off too.

WB OPENED UP THE DC vault for this movie.

There were some fun parts and some dumb parts. I really liked Keaton. That nostalgia is fun in one movie. I don’t think you can do it again though.

It is like you read my mind. This is exactly how I felt. Just got back, and I had a good time as well

Man I really liked this movie. Finally some great action in a comic book movie. I feel like after Snyder, everyone just phoned it in. Glad to see they picked this guy to do the next Batman movie.

Loved all the cameos. Keaton and Affleck were both great, and its a shame that Affleck will be forgotten because I honestly think he was an underrated Batman who deserved more movies. I even liked the Kara actress. No idea who she is but she was badass.

The only issue I have is that kara was too weak. She should be whopping Zod.

The final Batman cameo was hilarious. I was lmao when he said Who the fuck is that.

She did whoop Zod in their first fight and probably some of the other fights we didn’t see when young Barry never stops going back to fix things and ultimately becomes the monstrosity we see. Zod only beat her since she didn’t finish him off so he had a chance to recover.

Also, she had a bit more time to absorb sunlight compared to him, but not by a ton plus Zod was a seasoned warrior. Regardless, it wouldn’t have mattered, both her and Batman were destined to die in that fight, it wasn’t something that could have been fixed. I mean, young Barry would be getting even more control over his powers each loop, and no way could even Zod always beat Kara and an experienced Barry working together, but again the fixed event couldn’t be ultimately altered.
