The Right to Work From Home Could Be Guaranteed By Law in Germany

I retract my previous statement. This is the most ignorant statement I’ve ever seen. Also an epic strawman. No one said that government shouldn’t be involved in changing laws, rather that this particular law is idiotic and not something government should be sticking its nose into.

lmao
Welcome to germany where everything needs a regulation and everybody want it that way, because we ate proud of our rules and regulations, makes us smarter than everybody else. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Do you have any regulations for how loud you’re allowed to fart?

What twisting? Have you read the arguments of the guy I was responding to?
He said that an effective government needs to have teeth. In your answer it seemed as you interpreted it the other way around. A government with teeth is effective. That was the reason for my link to the wikipedia page.

Do germans laugh when they fart
Only when we are in the basement. Also SAUERKRAUT!!!🤤

You need to consider the context of what he was replying to. There’s an implication that indiscriminately enshrining shit into law somehow means a government isn’t toothless. It’s a really low resolution take and I could come up with endless examples of things that should not be enshrined into law just for the sake of it.

Need to stop enshrining shit into law that isn't Government's business. Did Germany learn nothing...?
Society cannot function with a toothless government.

In this regard i'm on your side

In Japan it's called telework.. i could be wrong but i actually think Shinzo Abe was actually giving advice about it during a national press conference

Trading standards aren't just an EU thing... (Are you Boris Johnson in disguise or a vegan bitter they can't sell their crap under the name of mayonnaise?)
I just don't like food destruction. My theory is, this laws were made because of the porn lobby. It makes a lot of sense. Just think about it.

Nowhere do they say the products can't be used for other purposes, the cucumber one explicitly states that it doesn't apply to processed cucumbers/gherkins. These standards exist for consumer protection and to level the playing field among producers.

The German porn industry is only responsible for the loaf size standard...

If it was really that simple; all labor issues would have been solved already. The employer holds all the cards and there aren't enough jobs that a person can just walk from one into another.

This is why Unions are critical to society.

Free market hasn't solved shit. Folks in america are working themselves to death on two jobs to pay bills; while abroad you only need one thanks to rights enshrined in law to protect the employee from exploitative employers.

Do you know any of this for a fact, or are you just talking out of your ass because you've heard this online? Go ahead and find a peer-viewed graph to prove me wrong.

The only thing the free market can't solve is for idiots not to idiot.

Wait wat?

(obviously, omit details that would identify your job/company)

But what happened?

Short of it is, except for some shipping cost, nothing about operating in Germany is attractive. Working in aftermarket medical, consumer, and telcom devices where margins are razor thin... It is foolish to operate any depot operations in Germany.

Was this your nefarious goal all along?

Rustle then run?
Mock then rock?
Troll then roll?
Tease then leave?

However will the forum recover from this sneaky tactic?
Weird, I thought NeoGAF was THE forum for shitposting

Guess people here are more sensitive than I thought? :messenger_pensive:

Don't mistake playful banter for sensitivity. What's the old saying about "you can dish it out, but you can't take it"?

It would almost seem intentional that you are throwing out bait and then immediately crumpling when anyone takes the time to respond to you.

If my shitpost gets a seriously irritated answer as a response, then yes, I'd argue "you can dish it out, but you can't take it" applies.
I just don't see value in the way this thread is unfolding, so why bother in the first place? It's clear as day that 'MURICA, FUCK YEA' is the default mentality here, there's no point in arguing.

Nah, it seems like you enjoy the freedom of throwing out hot takes but are uncomfortable when anyone expects depth out of you, while at the same time lamenting that no one should expect depth out of the thread.

Not sure if you're trolling or if you're actually trying to live up to your ironic username.

I just don't care about participating in this pointless debate when I feel like most posters here are arguing dishonestly in the first place (operating under the assumption that their view on life is correct to begin with and being too close minded to see points from the other side).
I'm responding to you because you are being sensible, and that's why I'm telling you with utmost honesty that I don't see a point and that's it. I have better things to do than waste my time discussing things that won't change anyone's mind ever.

Cool. I still don't get the tightrope walk between "I just don't care about participating" and "I'm gonna troll anyway" but you do you.

You don't? I started reading this thread, read some funny takes, thought I'd drop one of the posts so commonly seen on GAF and silently go away. Didn't think anyone would take this obvious shitpost seriously enough to respond to it, or even get offended by it.

I severely doubt Papa Papa is capable of being offended.

No one who goes out of his way to respond seriously to an obvious shitpost and then mimics the post's style is doing that because he feels happy about it. "pie_tears_joy:
I feel like we are derailing too much now though, so please guys, keep on going with that fruitful debate or PM me if you have anything to say.

First day of home office for me, basically a trial, and if it goes well, a colleague and I will probably rotate between working from home and being in the office. Someone needs to be there in case we have to go out and fix some server or network error.

I'm not in favor of enforcing everything through law, but my employer was rather hostile to remote work prior to COVID-19. I wouldn't mind if it got more difficult for US companies to insist on relocation.
