TOCA2 announced for PS2

Chopin Trusty Balls

First casualty in the war on idioticy.
Codemasters announces TOCA2 will ship for PS2 in October in Europe, online play supports up to 8 players, some new tracks and a new mode.

The PC/XB versions sold over 400K in Europe since release in April.

If your looking for a sim, yeah. PS2 version of F355 is better than Toca 2.

I thought the driving physics in Toca 2 felt too arcadey but if you just want a game with alot of cars then T2 is pretty good. You even get to race big rigs.

The simulation mode that they dropped from the Xbox version will be included, with full Driving Force Pro wheel support. :D

Press Release

ToCA Race Driver 2, already an international best-seller on the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and PC, is as realistic as racing games get. The new enhanced PlayStation 2 version will launch complete with online gameplay for up to 8 players. With brand new content exclusive to PlayStation 2, ToCA Race Driver 2 will feature a new circuit, Catalunya, and an expanded Championship structure, allowing 99 additional car and track combinations. There game also features a "Pro-Sim mode" for ultimate realism.

The PlayStation 2 edition of ToCA Race Driver 2 is constructed completely from the ground up by Codemasters' renowned ToCA development team. The game runs at 60 frames-per-second with up to 21 drivers on track at the same time.

ToCA Race Driver 2 boasts the most diverse range of motor sports ever seen in one game with 33 championships covering 15 different motor racing styles including GT Sports Car Racing, Street Racing, Rally, DTM, V8 Supercars, Global GT Lights, Rally Cross, Formula Ford, Open Wheel Grand Prix, Classic Car Racing, Super Truck racing, Stockcar Oval Racing, Ice-Racing, Convertible Racing and Performance Cars.

The game features 52 racing circuits including the world famous Laguna Seca, Surfers Paradise, Euro Speedway, Donington Park, Kyalami and Road America circuits.

With unique adaptive AI that changes to suit the player's level of racing expertise, the computer-controlled drivers will fight to hold their line, try to out-brake and out-maneuver other drivers and even carry grudges over from race to race.

ToCA Race Driver 2 features a hugely realistic damage engine and the most advanced physics ever seen in a racing game. Get too cozy with another car or a trackside barrier and it could be back to the starting grid. And there are no fake "resets" to restart drivers back on their way, "Race Over" means just that, but only for that race. The save system in ToCA Race Driver 2 saves after every event, so players only have to re-run that one race in order to progress. Gamers will also be able to save replays to relive their victories.

* The evolution of Codemasters' 5-million+ selling ToCA series, offering the most diverse range of motor sports ever in one game.

The XBox version is a quality game...great graphics, sensation of speed, and a far better feeling of weight then the previous game, though probably still slightly less then the first two games released for PC and PSX in '97 and '98. I absolutely love the Australian V8 Supercars series...the cars are so much fun to drive, and the tracks simply rock (Bathurst is just bad ass). I'd recommend it to any racing fan, unless they're looking for a super strict simulation. PS2 version looks like it'll be a near match to the XBox version visually, unlike the tragedy that was the prior version last year (the difference between the XBox and PS2 versions of Pro Race Driver 1 was absolutely stunning).

Agreed.

It's the only series worth bothering with in the game.

Looking at the pics, I like how they show only part of the course on the HUD. IMO, this makes it easier to keep track of where you and the other drivers are, as well as allows you to see the next part of the course without having to take divert your eyes too long. I think I'll give this game a go for the Xbox. It's only $29.99, so its not that much of a risk and will hold me over until GT4. Also, its too bad the Xbox doesn't have any good racing wheels; i.e. Logitech Force Feedback racing wheels.

US didnt get a PS2 CMR04 so I wouldnt expect a US PRD2. Codies hate PS2 NTSC conversion apparently. CMR3 took forever to release in the US.

That pic reminds me: Did Codemasters release that Indy F1 game today? $19.99 to boot.

Yeah, I'm interested in this game as well. It seems like a good value and its also online. I think it is coming out soon as I saw an ad for it in this months XBN magazine.
