Also I find it astounding at the amount of chivalrous internet knights in this thread who have come to defend Jade's honor, meanwhile try to slam SA. Do some of you not understand that there was nobody at SA who created the comic (or additional photoshopped porno picture), and it was just forum users who posted those images in a thread there? The idiots in this whole situation (besides you chivalrous internet knights) is Ubisoft's legal team, for not understanding how these sorts of things work.

Though it is quite amusing having to see the Games forum refer to AC as "THAT GAME" from now on.

I paid the $10, and its been well worth it. Its a nice deterrent to keep (the grand majority) of idiots out. When the idiots do pay their $10 as well, its quite comical to watch them pout and whine about wasting their $10.

Some people are just better suited as lurkers.

I care about the future of the industry as well, but let's be real - of all the things that could damage it, this is the least of our worries, between attacks from Congress, uninspired sequels, and other forms of entertainment vying for attention. I'm in the industry, and frankly, I don't see how we're actively hostile towards women at all. If you're talking about random childish posters, you get that on any Internet board. Also, I think other industries are far worse - rap music has been known to be far more misogynistic, and yet it hasn't affected their sales from female fans. The fashion industry itself exploits women. I think the comic was crass and unfair towards Jade, but I disagree with everything else you said.

You know, I want to feel sorry for Jade, I really do. It's pretty sad that a good looking woman can't work in the business without everyone slobbering all over her.

On the other hand, she and Ubi both are extremely guilty of taking this particular ball and running with it for their benefit, so it's pretty hard to feel bad for Ubi/Jade.

In times of difficult moral quandary, I like to just say fuck it and throw rocks at the neighbourhood kids instead. So, I'm heading out to the balcony.

Actually in case you people don't realize, it's the news sites that have been requesting face-to-face interviews with the producer MUCH more than usual (another example, Kojima Productions wanting to do an interview with her and Patrice, and Ryan and Ken mentioning how everyone in the industry over there was talking about the fact that a female was a producer on a big video game, which was unheard of over there).

Ubisoft didn't "use" Jade, they have been getting flooded with requests for interviews. No news site gave a damn about interviewing some nerdy-looking fat male producer on some other game projects at E3, but they all wanted to get their own Jade-interviews. You can't blame her or Ubisoft for not rejecting the interview requests. The blame is entirely on the immature gamers here.

So we aren't going to consider that Jade and Ubi have used this to increase visibility on Assassin's Creed, and we aren't going to consider that gaming media have used this to their advantage, but we are going to blame gamers for finding her sexually attractive and wanting to see more of her? Why stop the buck-passing there? It's not their fault, it's their hormones! It's not the hormones' fault, it's their cells! It's not the cells' fault, it's the atom's!

No one in this situation can go home with clean hands vis-a-vis using Jade's attractiveness in some way or another. Which is fine, as I don't think anyone really loses much sleep over it, but for Ubisoft to turn around and act offended at the result of a monster they helped to create looks a bit silly.

What a nice spin! There's a difference between saying she's hot and making mock-up porn pictures and comics where she's giving blowjobs. The gaming media have requested more interviews, and that's fine, whatever the reasons may be. Ubisoft of course is going to give them the interviews. There was no problem there. Yes she was getting more attention than your average dev, but that's not the media, Jade, or Ubisoft's problem. The fact is it remained a professional relation in all cases. But saying that Ubisoft used her and that she whored herself out? That's bullshit. The media WANTED to give her more attention, but at the same time they kept it professional and game related. Period.

It's the immature and insulting comments and actions that are responsible for this, not the media or Ubisoft. Nice spin attempt tho.

It's no spin. You can't make an argument at all if you're allowing for certain use/abuse of her attractiveness and not others. Well, you can, but it wouldn't be a very solid argument.

Not that that has ever bothered you, I suppose.

Oh, and I never said she whored herself out. That would imply an exchange of money for sexual favours, and I sincerely doubt she would need to resort to that.

I think the whole thing, all sides included, are whipping up a tempest in a teapot. Ubisoft's lawyers started and Lowtax threw meat to the SA Forum posters, and then it got bought here, and now it's on G4TV, because some guy suggested visually that Jade Raymond gave head to people for good reviews. I've seen that sentiment expressed verbally on a dozen differnt forums in varieties from the subtle to the gross, so why does making a picture of it suddenly make gamers and forum posters any more repulsive than when they were posting animated Gifs of Ken Kutaragi getting fucked in the ass by Reggie?

I think the whole thing kind of snowballed out of control. The thread essentially goes:

-"Nasty comic about Jade Raymond"
-"That's pretty jacked up. Who'd do that"
-"Lol, Lowtax"
-"Yeah, that's pretty messed up"
-"It's not so bad, you guys are pussies"
-"Man, eff SA. Right in the A"
-"Man this is messed-- wait, did that guy say it WASN'T messed up? What's wrong with you, man?!"

-"This thread sux. What are we even arguing about?"

Most people seem to be incensed, that other people aren't as outraged about the comic as they are. As for me, the comic's not all that well executed, OR all that funny. I do think that there's a lot of undue pining directed at Jade, not because of her merits as a developer, but because she's cute (though, I don't really think so, personally). Conversely, there seems to be just as much animosity both towards her, and towards said piners for the same reason.

No offense, but that has to be the dumbest logical jump I've ever read. Women shouldn't be in movies, or music, or anything then? This bit on Jade is far from the worst I've seen.

I've seen some truly twisted stuff about Paris Hilton, Margaret Thatcher, hell any woman in anything ever. Guys get just as bad of treatment. The problem here isn't that this comic got made. No, if you're in the limelight you have to deal with this crap regardless.

The problem is people making a big deal out of it. The idiots, chauvanists, just all around fucktards will always exist. They will always be doing this same kind of crap. You can't stop them, no one can.

The only thing that can be done, is ignoring them. Because they won't go away. As time goes on, and more and more women make it big in the industry, this crap will continue.

Spotlight = mocking. By those that are jealous, those that are all around stupid. Deal with it, or stay out of the spotlight. Jade can deal. Just like every other woman and man in that spotlight must.

You think Tom Cruise lets all the gay jokes get to him? No, he just lathers up and hops into his tub of philipino men.
