Yeah I just picked up the Vans sampler CD when I was shopping at Hot Topic and am super psyched for it

Fuck current warped tour

Been ages since I've been to a festival. Warped was never my thing lineup wise, but I do love the venue they use in WA state, which is the Gorge. Beautiful desert with the main stage right at the edge of the Gorge that overlooks the Columbia River. I need to go back there. So fun to camp out with buddies and sit around shooting the shit with everybody else at the campgrounds. Boo to overpriced everything including 10 dollar water but that's par for the course at these events.

I think I've heard of two of those on there, but I don't know a single thing about either of them.

Can't say I'd be interested in it if I lived over there, from what I've heard the last ten years or so have been pretty terrible.

How do they coordinate all those bands in all those cities in that short of time? How do all those bands play on a single day?

Bands commit to Warped Tour and travel like they would on any other tour. Instead of heading to a gig downtown, they head to the stage they're playing at whenever they're scheduled for.

I think Warped Tour as a company has a massive crew that travels to each location to set up tents and stages every morning, and sell merch all day.

I know H2O, Motion City Soundtrack, and Senses Fail off that list. Not sure if any are worth trying to get a day off work for. Pretty sure all three have seen better days.

Ehh, probably not this year as I am already taking time off to attend Bonnaroo. I did attend Warped last year and had an amazing time, despite most of the music not exactly being up my alley...the mosh pit during Breathe Carolina's set was incredible. Enjoy dude!

I know two bands in that entire list. What happened to the warp tour I knew in 90's?

Summer tours have pretty much died.

Big name acts realized it was much more profitable and much more comfortable to play a few 6-7 music two-day music festivals (Coachella, Bonaroo, etc) than it is to try and keep up with a breakneck 7-days-a-week tour that goes all summer long.

Only band I ever listened to on that list was New Year's Day, and that was back in my early high-school years when I listened to emo-pop-rock stuff. I remember listening to their Mechanical Heart EP and thinking that if they tightened up their sound and ditched the cheesy love-song lyrics, they could actually be a pretty good band instead of an average Evanescence clone.

I outgrew that phase before they released their next album, and never found out. Maybe I'll look them up again.
