Account membership on NeoGAF involves creating a mandatory username for the purposes of identification and cataloguing. But for those of us who have been on this forum for a long time, we’re accustomed to seeing the same people on a daily basis, we attach fond memories and interactions whenever we see those usernames and thus this thread came to be.

You can choose multiple usernames except your own for submission and the reasons can vary from sounding cool, being funny or stirring intrigue. I would like to mention that although I’m not against people submitting friend’s usernames, the purpose of this thread is to highlight the name itself above all else.

Punished Miku

This one is equal parts amusing and fascinating. I’m not sure what a “Miku” is, I’m going to assume it’s one of those hentai terms. And what is he so punished about when he’s swimming in that NeoGAF Golddddd?

Well, Corpsepyre is the name of the very first band me and a friend formed around 2002. Played death metal with some doom thrown in some tracks. Recorded two demos, played a handful of shows here in Pakistan, and had fun. Broke up around 2005.

Regarding OP, I don't think Punished Miku had that name coming into GAF. There was a point where like 2 or three times he requested a ban and E.L. kept denying it. If I remember, the original name was Miku Miku with a Gunm (Battle Angel) avatar. He changed it to 'Punished' because he's like the only guy I've seen request a ban and be denied. Shortly after was when I noticed he changed his name to Punished Miku.

ahem... well I was watching Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei many years ago. One episode ended where a character was going on a rant and the translation ended up mentioning a manfestival.I thought it was funny and needed a username for GAF. The rest was history.

I've mentioned it before but my buddy Joe came up with it years ago. He was filling out some registration form on his computer and put the name of his city as Fart Town, it was just so dumb and juvenile that we couldn't stop laughing.

edit- Why I chose that as my name for GAF, I have no idea. Back in 2009 GAF was intimidating, probably at the height of it's power. Being a junior member back then was intense!! lol.
