I watched some of it while I was doing some packing and other various things around the house tonight...
..You know, I heard from a very reliable source (father's friend that works for another Comcast network who shall remain nameless) that G4 isn't doing all that well, and rumor has it they're going to turn it into a sports network at the rate things are going. Gee, with GREAT STUFF LIKE G-PHORIA, I WONDER WHY? They need to keep ICONS, Attack of The Show, X-Play, and Electric Playground, and dump everything else.

I think they'd probably just turn into a generic entertainment network that just has a wider focus on games. Which is pretty much what they are now, and yeah that is pathetic they are resorting to old cancelled trash like Fastlane. If they want to dig up old shit, they could at least license some old game cartoons, damn G4!

I tuned out when I didn't really understand what I was watching. Even The Sess couldn't save that mess.
Games have a long way to go to become "respected," but if the industry would like to take a logical short cut, then just have the industry award shows televised. G4 and Spike assume we want Mountain Dew to produce a video game awards show and I think they're underestimating gamers, especially when the average age of a game player is 29.
The industry really needs to televise things like the Game Developers Choice Awards, to show that the people who create these things are serious workers, designers and artists.

I remember hearing a while back G4 actually did try airing one of the award ceremonies and it was so boring even the people who bitch about G-phoria admitted they turned after like 10 minutes. I think what they need to do is get a good mix of seriousness and fun in their presentation each year and drop those awful celebs, they add nothing to the show at all. I feel like I'm going to puke if I see one more clueless celeb bring up his old Atari favorites again.
Now? G4 has had pornstars as actual guests on some of their shows and looking at how they've been getting more and more sexual with their marketing, you might just have some hosting some shows too.
