Thanks, AnimeGaf! I'm glad you guys enjoyed the CC/Conan series as much as I did!
Hm...that's a very good question.
I was younger (obviously) at the time, and I think I ate up eating anything that Toonami gave me. I was introduced into the whole Anime scene through DBZ in fact, and I remember Gundam reaffirming my interest in the medium.
I loved everything about the shows though. I loved the action and drama from DBZ, DB, Gundam, and others. Then I loved the weirdness and sexual friction of something like Kenshin Muyo or Inuyasha. I loved the different style of Lupin the 3rd or Case Closed. Obviously there were more reasons to love each of these shows, but these were some hard points I remember. Shoot, I even would watch Sailor Moon even though it was fairly cheesy in most aspects.
Then, Toonami died out, and I got older. I remember one Anime....damn you guys are going to want to kill me for this...it was something about this wandering red haird swordsman....he was like ridiculously good with a sword. (You all are screaming the name at the screen at this point.)
That was the last Anime I remember ever thinking (Okay, it's on at 5pm, so I have to watch that shit then.) but slowly that faded away. I kind of slowly faded away from enjoying TV all together, and so my enjoyment of Anime followed.
So I think it was a mixture of things:
1.) Toonami was dying, and thus the only real connection I had with these shows was going along with it.
2.) I was getting to that phase where watching Anime/Cartoons wasn't cool...dude. (Not saying that was right; in fact, saying it was stupid to ever think that way.)
3.) Didn't have the free time I used to.
I think if a show was to come on at a decent time, I would give it a shot, but who am I to say? I don't watch that much TV anymore, but isn't that the beautiful thing about the internet? Even if you've missed a show's episode or entire series, you can find them online, whether it be through Youtube or what not.
Hell, I watch some of the most deplorable and boring content on TV nearly every week in wrestling. I've always loved wrestling because of some things it had in common with that Toonami anime. Big characters, big storylines, everything is overblown, usually to a stupid point, but you love it. You love that everything is settled honorable, or some crazy shenanigans go down and the bad guy wins/gets away.
Too be honest, if I were to ever start watching some Anime again, I would have no idea where to even start. I was thinking about buying some of the DBZ Blu-Rays, or possibly watch GT, since I never had in the past. I've also been contemplating getting back into Case Closed (thanks to a Gaffer, you know who you are [: ).
College is busy, but I think the best thing to do is let go of some steam by yourself sometimes. I've always thought balance was a good motto for life. It's nice to go out and party with friends, but then it's nice to sit at home and play some games by yourself. Anyways, all I'm saying is that I've been contemplating watching some shows again, but I have no idea where to start, or with what.
Holy shit, I bet you didn't want a WALL-O-TEXT reply like that, haha. Sorry! Hope you get an answer out of that incoherent rambling I just did.
