Actually I said it once even before that : P.
But yeah, I love the Skies of Arcadia feel.
It really gives some kind of nostalgic feeling.

Did someone else got Skies of Arcadia vibes after watching the trailer? Like, some scenes in the sky on some sort of... city, and the generic anime look.
Except it's a traditional RPG which means we saw nothing from the world. From another thread:
Graphically, it is on par with XCX, so they're not developing new technology for much more capable hardware like from Wii -> Wii U. This is seemingly a single-player focus so no need to incorporate online functionality. There's also no flying mechs here for traversal. Now, these things may be added or are already in the game, but all of this was shown off in the reveal trailer in XCX and there's none of that here.
Also, this is their third crack at making a game like this. The world from what we see here isn't crazier than XCX either.

If it's as "big" as the first one, we're far far away from knowing what the world actually really looks like.
It's a teaser with no monster/NPC/system, it's bare bones. And I'm pretty sure we're seeing at most 2 cities and 1 big place (one of the city is certainly already in that place, like the Colony 9 in Xenoblade), presumably the beginning ?
This is 2017 like Zelda was 2015.
Characters, lighting and shaders are miles ahead than XCX and even grass seems to look better. Switch has a lot more RAM than Wii U so it shouldn't be surprising if textures end up being better as well, while animations look about the same. Can't really draw any conclusion about other stuff like shadows, lod etc since we've seen so little (in fact i don't how drawing any conclusion about the world ), but no doubt this already looks better than its predecessor graphically. Not that it should come as a surprise considering it's running on better, more modern hardware, and it's also the second HD title by Monolith so they also have more experience now. From another thread:

The grass tells otherwise : P.What we saw from the first Monado trailer and the first XCX trailer spoke exactly to what those games were, and as it stands right now, this game isn't any more technically impressive than XCX
XB2 looks miles better than XBX
Mechs isn't more or less ambitious, just different
XBX world crazy? lol it was five areas on a alien planet, wow so crazy versus a giant world on the top of two warring titans.
i never used online functionality, (not even confirmed or denied anyway so everything you said is based on nothing)
It's just the character design. You can take the best looking actors in the world, give them shit text and they'll look ridiculous.I hate to sound negative, but as someone who adored the first Xenoblade this doesn't look anything like it. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this game and any other hundred JRPGs based on the screenshots given. The environment is pedestrian to say the least, and suddenly the characters are bog standard anime heroes?
Beginning more and more to think Xenoblade was lightning in a bottle and the team behind it won't be able to replicate what made it so great.
Soraya Saga also said 2017. Believe!
Wrong !It isn't about the concept. XBX had a massive open world with no load times that you could traverse with both horizontally and vertically. That's a huge undertaking.
Until Xenoblade X 2 comes out.Now that Xenoblade 2 is a thing, we can finally pretend Xenoblade X does not exist.
Wrong !
That's just a different way of building things.
I'd actually thing Open World is the step back as it forces you to create a tiny world.
You don't have the time to build a really big world if it has to be seamless like this.
If you divide areas in big (not huge) places with really quick loading times you can show planets with many areas and cities. Now try to get that in seamless Open World.
But now, let's say you could do it... then in the meantime you can create an even bigger divided world. It's not better/worse, it's a different way of creating a world.
You may like one more, it doesn't make the other better. It makes it different as an experience.
Now that Xenoblade 2 is a thing, we can finally pretend Xenoblade X does not exist.
Ok I see. What are you saying? I like the first Xenoblade and its structure more. I'm saying XCX was more technically impressive (it had stronger hardware, but still).
Not big enough. And yes, you cant build a really big world and make it seamless. We've seen examples of that this gen and last gen already.
I can't decided what I'm most excited for BOTW, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2. There are some seriously amazing games coming out
Ok I see.
But then I come back to the "does it need to be more impressive technically ?"
Even if it's still to early to say.
What do yo mean by "it had stronger hardware" ?
You think the Wii U is stronger than the Switch or are you comparing X with Wii Xenoblade ?
Not big enough.
It just feels big because of the time it takes to get from one end to the other.
But I'm talking about the supposed distance that is covered.
Xenoblade X is a really big Open World still it covered an extremely small piece of land.
It feels really little compared to Xenoblade.
Not as pure distance but how big the whole world "seem to be" or "is shown".
Nope, just those 3

It just feels weird that you seem already convinced it's not as impressive.I'm saying Wii U was stronger than Wii. That allowed them to do some unbelievable things with traversal in Xenoblade X. And no, it doesn't need to be more technically impressive than XCX, and I don't know how someone would come to that conclusion.
I'm one of these people who eitherWas it just me or was the frame rate just horrible during parts of the trailer?
I hope he gets the "part" Shimomura was working on.Mitsuda. Suddenly hyped.
What if Mario is just more or less finished and they keep it for holiday as a big selling title while Xenoblade doesn't have this strength at all.If they can confidently say Super Mario Odyssey is Holiday, but can't give a solid period for this, I cannot see it making the year.

Though it seems they held up a lot at the same time so it's hard to say.The Xeno team is notorious for taking their time, which is why most here don't believe this is 2017. I wouldn't focus on the frame rate at this time as its clear they needed announcements for this event.

I understand that. Xenoblade numbered (if it's a thing) don't have this Xeno feeling X has.I don't know...
I was blown out of the water when the first trailer from Xenoblade Chronicles X also graphic wise came out. It reminded me of my favorite game Xenogears.I really felt at that time we would get a masterpiece game like xenogears(especially story wise) and man was I dissapointed.
When I watched the trailer of Xenoblade 2 yesterday it just didn't feel the same. Think it has to do too with the main character looking like a kid.
In the end I'm happy with Xenoblade 2 because it means will be story focused.
