EA Sports UFC |OT| Bigger than FIFA

Man, fuck Jones. Finally work my ass off to get to title shot and he just 1 hit KO's me every time. Guard head, instant liver shot. Guard body, instant head shot. Grrr....

Playing against the champions in this game really does suck. I was working Jones with Machida for an entire round, then the guy got the first 2 consecutive hits off and KO'ed me :(

I've had about 50 or so fights against the CPU so far. I'm playing on normal and I can't for the life of me understand why takedowns are impossible. I try doubles, singles, from the clinch on the fence etc. 1 out of 100 attempts actually works.

My god is the career mode shallow.. Goes to show how much better and more complex Undisputed 3 was.

And getting knocked out by Cain with a showtime kick.. excuse me while I laugh!

I felt like I finished Career mode way too fast. Maybe it was because I did it on "Normal"...

There is also no way see fight history like in Undisputed 3 which sucks because the game also doesn't remember re-matches like Undisputed 3 did for Career mode.

Hopefully the harder modes will make Career last longer.

I love this game but as I play more...I find little things missing which made Undisputed 3 great.

There was a previous EA MMA game. It had Bas Ruten and tire tossing.

So far I'm quite impressed. I admit that I got it mostly for the visuals and because I like UFC (plus the guys look nice...ehr...I mean...cool!). But I am enjoying the game a lot more than expected. Controls do take some time to get used to; but it's part of it.

Going to focus on using Uncle Creepy at the moment.

The game still sucks. I don't think you get a free pass because it's your first UFC game.

There are so many mind blowingly bad design decisions in this game. They really need to scrap he whole thing and start from scratch next year.

It's funny that when you're in between fights in career mode you can see people sparring in the gym with some short animation and it looks so much better than the way fighting looks in the actual game.

I agree that there are massive flaws with the game. I was bringing it up because of people mentioning the lack of features, THQ had 3 games to build content.

Damn TESCO suck. They dispatched my copy Monday and it's still not arrived. Only ordered from them since I got it for £31.

Got through the Bruce Lee DLC code so redeemed that, is Royce Gracie unlockable or only obtainable through purchasing on the store?

Career on Pro for Royce.

Just went Unranked had alot of fun, but not much competition there yet. Gotta go Ranked soon.

I said fuck it last not and picked this up along with MK8.

Was hoping for Sandstorm, Sail and Shipping to Boston. The game kiiinda plays like UFC 3, which is great, but lacks something. Its like comparing the Aki wrestling games to the DoR series on the GC

I wish people would realize this. They laid a great foundation to be improved upon with future iterations in the series. I look forward to what the team does with the next one.

From the couple hours I played ladt night it kind of feels like Undisputed 2.5 but the knock outs feel more earned and the fights are longer and more entertaining. I feel like striking is almost there, the ground game feels oddly simple and I haven't played much or enough submission yet to judge.

Only done career to about four fights into my UFC career after retrying a bunch of TUF fights, now 4-0.

Three drawn out wars, one of which I finished with 6 seconds left in the third round and my first UFC fight I won in the first minute.

Have to admit it seems like a solid start to EA's new MMA efforts.

Got it THX.

What does iirc mean?

You don't tap up, you hold up to maintain full posture. Elbows can interrupt transitions, work on transition blocking with a friend from different positions, recognizing animations, it's the best way to learn. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Here's a video of my last 3 fights online.
I'll be doing a purple belt series over the next week.

Not the same developer though.

Ah, okay. Didn't know they switched devs and/or didn't build on the previous game in this iteration. May have read it at some point, but I forget a lot.

Just won via the Twister online within a minute of the 1st round. I could tell my opponent had no idea how the submission system work haha.

I have the difficulty set to hard in career and have lost my first two fights. Even when I'm being super careful parrying, dodging, and generally picking my shots carefully, I end up losing. Frustrating.

It's nice to get the level up bonuses even on a loss, but did anyone beat career mode on hard or above undefeated?

Managed to break the Top 10 on psn.

Overall, it's an enjoyable game. It's good if you want to have have fun. When you take a closer look at it you can see the flaws.

Things I do like:
Perks are nice
I'm lovin the sub system
When you find someone that wants to play realistic, it can be fun.

Things I dont like:
* Random stance switching - It's frustrating when you throw a strike only to do a strike you didnt mean to because your fighter randomly switched stances.
* Ground Game
- Camera Angles, it would seem the controls are attached to the camera angle which gets annoying
-Transitions are too fast. Ground fighting just usually ends up being who can transition on their stick the fastest.
-Ground and Pound is so weak. There isn't even a ground striking offense stat. So I guess we can assume it's affected by standing punches or all fighters have the same hidden value for it?
* The general randomness of the game - I can rock a guy 4x and knock him down, I get rocked once and get hit while rocked and it's a KO.
* Fighting Styles - They mean absolutely nothing when making a caf. Maybe they affect stance, but that's it. A boxer can still have max kicks, etc.
* The movesets suck. All fighters having the same move, especially the takedowns, suck. When making a caf, looking at the moveset is laughable. Most choices for a strike are a regular version and a "power version" that looks the same as the regular version. I went into CAF thinkin im gonna spend at least an hour choosing all these moves for my guy. Went to a strike and saw only 2 options to choose from, lol.
* Online is basically just parry spam atm
* No rematch button in rivalry mode
* The stamina system needs work
-- Getting KO'd by a guy with no stamina when your full shouldnt happen
*Being able to spam body hooks with no real risk stamina wise is dumb
* Not being able to look at the stats/perks of the guy you are about to use online
* Landing the big strikes like head kicks/overhand rights arent really rewarding. The strikes are very slow and very risky. Online is just a hook spam because of this.
* Parry needs to be toned down. You can just hit two buttons to parry all high or low strikes.

That's off the top of my head. Hopefully EA UFC 2 will have more diversity when it comes to movesets and things of that nature.

You pretty much hit all the high points that need to be addressed. Few points in response.

- Ground and pound is weak per-say, if you hold posture up and hold L1 and R1, you'll throw elbows, which are the only strikes I throw on the ground, no reason to ever throw punches (at least that's my strategy).

-I still don't understand the controls when the camera angles switch. I wish EA would explain it.

- I've been 1 hit Ko'ed from a leg kick to the body to start a fight. Randomness is just there.

- EA decided if a fighter was physically able to perform a move, they should have it in the game. TERRIBLE decision. If everyone is special, then no one is. It takes away any uniqueness and strategy when picking your fighter.

- Parrying should be 25% chance, not 50% (Players should be required to press the same button that they are being struck with, Square for left punch, x for left kick, triangle for right punch etc to successfully parry). The High or Low 50% makes stand up a ninja/matrix fest.

-And yep, Throw hooks. anything else is a waste of time.

You can just mash the high and low parry buttons to parry everything?????

Yep. You can just press R2/RT + one of the punch buttons to block all strikes not matter what side or typer (including head kicks). R2/RT + one of the kick buttons blocks all low strikes.

- Yea, I've sat in mount and hit a guy 10-14 times(while postured) and no rock or ko. Just overall weak strikes.
- Camera angles are a nightmare when transitioning. So you not only have to learn the transition, but learn which way to do it when at
certain camper angles. I've gotten ok with it but it's still meh.
- Yep
- Yea that was a bad decision.
- It's so funny to see a guy just spamming parry like crazy, I usually just go for the takedown lol.

I've played nothing but unranked matches online so far.... it's fun but man this is not going to be the first or last time I complain about that BS WWF slam.

can't they just take that move out? is that too much to ask? I would think not.

just take the move out and replace it in the move set for everyone with something else.

I don't understand who in the development staff was fine with this, and how it flew under the radar to release with the game. Did some EA Suit just override every dev who complained about this?

it is so stupid.
to try comprehend why it's in the game, just hurts my head. This is still going to be worth bitching about for the next 18 months. :/

besides that I don't like how easy it is to go for takedowns..buuuut it does leave your head exposed to overly try to defend it, so I think that is realistic in itself. I just wish knees could work against those takedown attempts. Certain kicks to the body stops them, but sometimes the fighter will get through and a hold of your leg...which does happen in real life. I'm going to try different low strikes.

so that all being said, if one of the main complaints is some BS WWF slam, and some little things here and there....I think that's a credit to EA Canada. I think they did a real good job for their first time. So, so far I'm enjoying it and i'm constantly playing matches over and over as quick as I can. I wish they would've added an option after the fight for a quick rematch (if the other player wanted) or a quick search function from there...instead of going back to the menu.

So apparently your opponent is allowed to pause the game and quit no harm done? I didn't get credit for a win just now because of it.

Looks like I'm never gonna lose again lol.

I've come here and written out a full post about bad aspects about this game only to not post it because I can't pin why I don't like this game in a coherent thought. I just think it sucks. I'm not find of dominating only to get hit with 2 punches and go out cold.

EA claims that players who have a high %DNF percentage will only be matched with other players who have a high %DNF. But with 21k plus people online, that would take months to finally sort itself out. Especially since we don't know what that percentage threshold is, and we don't even get to see a players disconnect rate before facing them. Not getting credit for victory when an opponent quits is unacceptable and HAS to be the first thing they work on. If TKO/KO's and Subs get you 3 points, and Decision's get you 1 point, forcing a player to quit should get you a 2 point decision victory. Such a gross oversight.

Just had a fight with me as Alex Davis and some guy as Ronda.

I had 88 signifcant strikes, with my opponent with 0. 169 total strikes versus 85. Rocked him three times in the body, once with the head, and staggered him with leg kicks two times. In the second round he throws one body kick that tko's me. -_- You can't even tko with legs kicks, its literally impossible, this dude blocked NOTHING and still beat me.

The game is fun when bullshit like that doesnt happen

The damage and stamina system makes no sense at all.

You can attack the legs for 5 rounds and all that happens is it gets red and they might stumble at some point. Meanwhile if you attack the head and body real fast you can get a KO or flash KO.

I really wish they would have followed the EA MMA and Undisputed damage system where the body part you target keeps getting more and more damaged and only slightly recovers in between rounds.

It's retarded to chop someones leg down and when it gets red, you back off and it heals up like nothing ever happened.

The game can but it needs serious work.

It feels like none of the devs were actually mma fans. Nothing feels authentic.

It feels like they watched a YouTube highlight of the coolest moves ever done in MMA and made a fighting game out of it. It's closer to Virtua Fighter than it is to MMA.

A move down one time in the history (Showtime kick) of MMA should not be a move that everyone in the game has and is thrown at will. Not to mention all of the slams and suplexes.

I know, I didn't even back off and this guy was blocking his legs at all so the only thing that happened when repeatedly kicking when the leg is flashing is that the leg slowly healed.. lol. I don't know how they made an oversight like that, or maybe they don't watch mma. Vicious leg kicks change fights. The only thing it seems good for is a possible decision win. People can even do power fucking slams off a lead leg that is injured, makes no sense at all.

However I did just get a very satisfying knockout so I'm feeling a bit better lol

In a way I'm kind of ok with it, in the sense that, you can tell from the Bruce Lee Marketing, that this game has heavy regard for the "casual" mma fan or someone with passive interest in mma. when it comes to control sets, the balance of the ground game (you're stood up if you stay in any position for more than 3 seconds :p ) etc. Their goal was to sell as many copies as possible and in the end, that's all we can hope for, since we won't be seeing a new mma game for 2 + years.

Jesus jet-skiing christ.. I just fought Rory Macdonald, and it said before the fight "Ground and pound specialst". Yeah. He did 63 takedown attempts, in one and a half rounds. Sigh..
And at the start of each round, he would dive for a takedown the first thing he did, meaning he tried to take me down from across the octagon.

One good thing about this game though is that you can have absolute wars and not know who wins at the end of it. I like that

So I pre-ordered this via psn and was all excited to fight as bruce lee. That's when I noticed he's locked and requires me to purchase him in the store. It says on my ps4 that I've downloaded and installed the packs and they're ready for us so I don't even know what the fuck. If I go to the in-game store the bundles show as not downloaded but clicking on them to download takes me to a screen that says no content found. It seems pretty broken to me.

I got it digitally as well and it did the same. He unlocked after I restarted the game (close application) so maybe try that or restarting the console?

They really should have put a practice mode in, doesn't help that the controls are ridiculous they give you no proper way to learn them.

Someone just had me in the muai tai plum and kneed me to death and I couldn't get out... :/
