One thing that keeps me hoping is that we only have three unlockables left - Jigglypuff, Bowser Jr., and R.O.B. - and none of them are surprising characters. Well, Jr. is kind of, but it's not a "HOLY SHIT WHAT" character as much as R.O.B., Ness, Sonic, and Game & Watch were. Chorus Kids fill that role quite comfortably - so does Mewtwo (in terms of shock value).
