GTA V : Getting Ready for the Next Generation in Los Santos

You misunderstand me. I played a ton of GTA Online on last-gen, that isn't the issue.

But fair enough. I'm not talking about penalising people; being able to port your character to next-gen was never a given (and the 100 hours you spent for paid off when you played the game on last-gen, because that's why you did it). I genuinely think everyone would have more fun if they got to keep their XP (and everything that comes with that, like missions and weapons) but started from a relative ground floor in terms of money and vehicles. A lot of rebalancing has happened with GTA:O's missions, and the heists are on the way. It seems like a shame to me if people don't have the incentive to do missions and importantly heists because their accounts are packed with millions. Not that they won't be fun on their own, but I think the tension of wanting a large payout because having millions is a rare thing will be lost.

In any case have they confirmed your money transfers over? That was tied to your GTA account, but I've only heard that you can port a character. We'll see, in any case.

Returning Players

Character Transfer
You will need a Rockstar Games Social Club account linked to the console accounts used when previously playing GTA Online.

When entering GTA Online, you will be given the option to transfer your previous GTA Online character and progression data. Once you have chosen to transfer your previous character and progression data, the transferable in-game money, RP and Rank of all previous characters will be displayed. These are the characters that will be transferred to the PlayStation®4 or Xbox One. Once the transfer has completed, you will be prompted to choose a character and enter GTA Online.

You will still be able to play your existing characters on PlayStation®3 and/or Xbox 360, however any progress made with versions of the characters on those systems after a transfer will remain on those systems only. Any existing PlayStation®4 or Xbox One GTA Online character and progression data will be replaced by the previous character and progression data during the transfer, except for any existing in-game money, which will be combined with your transferred balance.

All earned in-game money will transfer. Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will only transfer within a console family (e.g. PlayStation®3 to PlayStation®4).

guys who played GTAO on last gen consoles and haven't returned to play for awhile check and see if you have all your cash and cars if not submit a ticket to R* and they will compensate your loss with cash. If you got rid of the game on last gen but want to check your gtao characters vehicles and money log into the www.rockstarsocialclub.com and check.

Eh... where is all the traffic? It's like a wasteland in downtown Los Santos.

I'm fairly alarmed here.

everything should transfer but if you log on the game or check the website and see you have stuff missing submit a ticket and they will compensate you.

I had no idea you could see owned cars and money on website. I've just checked and all my cars appear to be there but only $17k is not right not at all.

What about my apartment do I have to buy a new one or is my old one still mine?

I'll be so sad if my apartment doesn't transfer over :(

I understand that and I disagree that everyone would have more fun because I would not. I don't want to have to play another 100+ hours just to get the vehicles I already have now. I would not find that fun and I don't care if everyone was reset as well, that wouldn't really make it better. And I'm glad rockstar is not doing what you propose.

And no one is stopping you from just starting over yourself if you want more motivation to play. With them adding stuff in I still have goals to work for so I really don't need them resetting me to give me goals and if I did I could just start a new character

Picking this up on launch day, looking forward to getting back into it. Is there an active GAF GTA Online crew?
There is indeed a Gaf crew. And an OT for Online, also! If you are playing on Playstation, and want in the crew send me (BaronVonBeans, no spaces there) a FR on the R* Social Club Site with a note that has your Gaf name. I'll send you an invite to the crew, which you can accept either in game or on the Social Club.

The PS Crew is growing...let's keep 'em comin guys and gals! We need to have a strong number of active users! Last gen faltered out, but this time we *can* make a difference! Yes we can! Yes we can!

Did they split up gta online in auto aim and without again? And how populated are they on last gen?
Yes, servers are split between assisted aim, GTA aim, and free aim. You can only change those settings in Single Player, and it transfers to Online.

Depending on the time of day, you will find a variety of populations. Every time I've booted it up over the past few weeks in free aim I get full lobbies, every single time. If they are not full, they fill up quickly. Your mileage will vary, again, depending on your time zone and play times.

Here is a "little" something I wrote in March for some co workers that were wanting to get into GTA:Online. Discalimer - This was written for people I work with that were JUST getting in to GTA, some don't play games all that often. You may know almost everything on here, but I was still learning new tricks hundreds of hours in, so you may too. This was written for PS3 players, but I tried to make additions to include 360ers and Xboners as well. Also, despite it being written originally back in March, some info might be out dated, and I updated it as best as I could. But that is why I left comments on, because I *know* there are likely mistakes there. I haven't really done much in my Google Drive, so I hope this all works as it should. Enjoy!

GTA: Online tips for the new and old alike :D

Cool. Sent you a FR.
Awesome, will take care of you soon!

Is there any way I can get the hatchet without 'transferring my character' from the PS3 version, as I have already sold my PS3 copy?? I really want the hatchet and the other additional stuff.

I have a decision to make, so far I've bought every Xbox One game I own digitally as I hate swapping discs and I like the fact that everything's on the hard drive, however if I buy the disc version of GTA V I can get it delivered tomorrow and it'll be cheaper.

If you were going to have a disc that stays in your console for the foreseeable future, GTA V seems like a good pick.
