Interesting to see xbox doing so-so in most of the world but absolutely adored in the U.S.

Straight from the Xbox, and especially with the 360, almost every marketing move MS made was to appease a North American demographic.

This makes absolutely zero sense. Games don't download any faster on PSN than XBL. And the big complaint about the Xbox One is how slowly games install from disc, which given your logic means they would see more digital sales.

It is a little bit crazy hearing some people suggesting that Sony should drop the price of the PS4 and go into panic mode... I know its a bit of a "Sony need to react they lost Nov/Dev" but they ultimately won the year in the USA and basically outsold the XBO worldwide.

I'm sure after the PS3 debacle, they won't even mind if MS take a slight lead in 2015 in the USA, because last gen it was what over 12m difference (cannot remember the exact number).

They have lots of games out in the first half of the year, and I am sure they have some good stuff coming, there is really no need to panic.

I think it's really smart of Microsoft to share the news of $349 on the day of NPD where they win and sustain w/e momentum them have. I think Sony is also wise to send out the PR where they say they are the best selling console in U.S and globally in 2014 right after that.

Aggregate was weirdly low this month. I thought I was being pretty conservative at 500K, I don't think 550K was really that out there.

The 100 grand bar trailed off from a quote referring to December 2012 though (460K), so if I'm reading it right the number will probably be closer to your estimate than 600K.

Well the holiday promotion I suspect ACU and BF were included in nearly all those bundles as COD and SO units sold out so I bet ACU did fine, with Rogue wouldnt have helped it either.

~15-25% is not a small percentage. From various insiders hinting at digital download rates. Note that I'm not agreeing with the person you responded to, but I believe digital downloads are a fair portion of total game sales, and shouldn't be discounted.

I don't think Sony needs to drop price, but I do think they need to do something a little aggressive to keep attention on them. The whole reason they are so far ahead right now is not only because MS made dummy decisions, but because Sony rubbed their noses in it. MS has pretty much wiped away most ill will, and is by all accounts a competitive piece of hardware, so Sony should figure something out to stay the good guys.
